FORD F-150 LIGHTNING - FORD CHARGE STATION PRO INSTALLATION - IS IT WORTH IT?

The new ford f-150 lightning came with the option of a lightning extended range, or lightning standard range battery. With choosing the extended range for the 2022 ford f-150 lightning model year, you would also receive a "free" ford charge station pro with your new electric f-150 lightning. The charge station pro offers many benefits over a conventional level 2 charger, but the main one we will talk about in this video is charge speed. The ford charge station pro dropped charging time on this f150 lightning XLT ER by about 50% of the time that I was seeing with the ford charger that would plug into the stove 240 outlet, or 110 outlet. This got us from our 10 hour 50% charge at , to about 4 hours for a 50% charge.

Wish would have shown where getting power and conduit run . I am looking for a video of this with the intelligence back up .

The first question I have is why does it have the DC connections? Then I realized that is how you power your house from your truck, V2L. If you don't have the 80 amps to send to it, I would probably use a less expensive 48 or 32-amp charger. I have a 48 amp Emporia.

Hey there, they are 24" dub Swerves, 305/35/24 I believe. I recently hit a hole and exploded the right rear wheel unfortunately. Looking for a replacement, as I love this style of wheel on the truck... But they are discontinued.

I've owned my lightning for over a year now and I'm finally getting the charging installed. However, it was definitely not a few hundred bucks. I didn't see a quote under $10,000 due to having my electrical being under ground where I live as well as having to upgrade my panel and move it to meet code. My only saving Grace was that the Christy box was only a few ft away from my property. If it was across the street the price would have been way more

Why are there unused DC pins on the connector? This makes it incompatible with J1772 vehicles which do not have CCS. I believe an 80A Enphase (Clipper Creek) unit has a standard J1772 plug.

Question for you, I was under the impression that you could power your house with this alone as well if it was installed a certain way, without the Intelligent Backup Pro? Although not as much power to the home, but enough to get things powered. Am I wrong in assuming that?
@AtlanticBuilt
@AtlanticBuilt Год назад
Honestly I'm not sure on that, and haven't looked too far into it, I thought you needed the home integration system for it to work, but here in Canada they haven't offered it yet as far as I know. As usual though I'm sure there's "more than one way to skin a cat." For this! I'm going to start reading into it!
@EddieBecker05

@@AtlanticBuilt In talking to others you only need to install a 30amp transfer switch to utilize the 30amp circuit in the bed of the truck. You won’t get the full 9.6kW that you could from the truck using the Sun Run Intelligent Power Backup system, but you’ll get 7.4kW which is more than enough to power most items in the home, including an AC, Washer, Dryer, Fridge. Maybe not all of those at the same time. Curious to see what you come up with. Following for more info
@turnersinsurance8656
@turnersinsurance8656 Год назад
ProPower output is the ability to push DC POWER(battery power) back out of the CCS hose and into your Home's INVERTER, which then power the home thru the breaker panel: this will not be possible without the ProPower AND the ProCharger. Now, if you are like most of us, those with or even WITHOUT ProPower, you can ALWAYS access the 30amp outlet in the bed, if you have ProPower, or the 20amp outlets, otherwise. It's up to you how you provide that power to the home.

it will charge anything up to the max output IF that vehicle can ACCEPT that much amperage - most don't... otherwise it would just provide the maximum the vehicle allows - some are 16amp, others 32amps, etc.

Lightning can bidirectionally charge (can power the house as a battery backup with the HIS. But that’s another $15k). The 511a Lariat and Platinum come with the 80a charger included but HIS is extra for V2H

Did your charger actually have a rubber gasket? Mine has a slot but no gasket. You have me wondering if something got left off. Install price depends ... my install had a wire run over 120 feet, 70ft. in conduit - $900 in wire + sub panel + electrician labor = $3K for a "Free" $1,300 charger. Good deal. Well worth it for the convenience.
@AtlanticBuilt

Between the two parts of the. Black pieces it has a little rope type gasket pressed into the one part, can't remember if it's the front of the back side... The grey facade/cover on the front of mine has no gasket though.

What is the cost of charging out east ? Was it worth switching from gas?
@AtlanticBuilt
@AtlanticBuilt 10 месяцев назад
The cost of purchase and operating this truck per month is leaps and bounds cheaper than a gas version. We have a 5.0 F-150 as well, and basically what we were spending in gas per month, covers the new truck. (Or very close to) We usually only charge at home, not aure public charging would be worth making the switch. Seems to be about 60-70 dollar a month on our electric bill. Truck now has about 27,000km on it.
@Failfast0
@Failfast0 10 месяцев назад
@@AtlanticBuilt that is my thinking as well. My monthly gas cost is almost the same as the truck payment. Makes even more sense out east with the price you guys pay. Plus, it is only going to get more expensive to buy fuel over the next few years. Thanks for the reply!

66% of 131 KW is 86.4 KW over 9 hours that is just over 9kw. at 80 amps you should be pulling 19kw. at 48 amp's you can pull 11kw and you were only pulling 9.+. I've seen several vids like this and they never get the full 80 amps delivered.

How is a vehicle taking up space in a room in your house where it is supposed to be? Garage's are for vehicles, not stuff. I will never understand people who put maybe $5-10k worth of stuff in a garage and a 2 or more $40k and up items out in the elements.
@AtlanticBuilt

My garage is for tools, and tinkering with vehicles and or things, not parking the drivers. Also, much more convenient just having it outside ready to jump in and go. Different strokes for different folks.
@gs-pd5ox

@@AtlanticBuilt i know most people do it. I just don’t understand it. I had one vehicle get damn near totaled by hail. I can’t control what happens when I’m out and about but when I’m home my $47k truck is in the garage. I still have room for a rack for tools and stuff. Making money in a garage is one thing but a $1000 tv and couch and fridge while the bmw is outside blows my mind. 80% of my neighborhood is like that.
