Even if it's now almost three years since the introduction of the Rally1 class as the top level of the world rally championship, the heart of many fans still remained at the glorious WRC Plus, which made their debut back in 2017, with cars such as the Yaris, the i20, the C3 and the Fiesta that became proper rocketships, with crazy speeds compared to the previous 1.6 l WRC cars, setting incredible times and taking the memory of the fans to the glorious Group B era
This video in particular is focused on the Ford Fiesta WRC Plus, which I've been lucky enough to see in many occasion in the past years
Designed by M-Sport in 2016, the Fiesta WRC Plus received just minor helps from Ford, being highly developed by the British team of Malcum Wilson
The Ford Fiesta WRC Plus made its debut in the Monte-Carlo rally in 2017, winning immediately with Seb Ogier and Julien Ingrassia. The car got eight other wins between 2017 and 2018, clinching also a Constructors' Championship and two Drivers' Championships, both of them with the duo Ogier-Ingrassia, before losing competitiveness thanks to the low effort that Ford put into this project, ending its life in WRC in Monza 2021 without getting other race wins
