The ringland of the piston in cylinder 2 was damaged due to LSPI in our 1.5 ecoboost focus. The short block had to be replaced under warranty. To all the owners, I suggest you use the highest octane fuel you can get. In my case its 100 octane now. Change the oil every 6 months with a SN Plus rated oil. Use some fuel cleaner like techron to clean the carbon off the piston maybe every oil change. And don’t push the engine hard for long periods of time.
Africa Sideways around 17,000Km. It was only 1 and half year old. Right now its running pretty good with the new engine. The Ford dealer said they updated the ecu software and changed the PCV system. No issues now so far.
@@GreatGrandmasterWang damn my previous 2016 1.0 focus ecoboost sedan got to 110 000 kms before any issues. i had it dyno tuned regularly for the injectors as i was skeptical about direct fuel ejection design, but ya i have to say the ecoboost engines are quite finicky when problems surface and pricey to change due to the layout of the engine which pushes labour prices up. i wish ford supplied an old school 2.0 naturally aspirated engine in these as an option and kept the under the hood design simple im pretty sure i could have gotten way more mileage before getting rid of it. You are right about oil change, they don't mention that on the documentation. also good idea to double check the cooling system, some of them here in South Africa use the same cooling systems of the kugas that were recalled a few years back.
İ have 2017 At 1.5 turbo and I'm Telling u guys so good car I change my car put on RS spoiler 19 inch rims car looks very sexy .. and the corners ooh god really really good suspension car make me very surprised .. I wish they have here manual
Nice, do you have a picture of your car with the upgrades?.Black rims would be mint. It does not feel that much slower than the ST. That 6 speed manual is ace. Thanks for watching.
+Africa Sideways Hah yes well my Previous car was a Focus St with the 2.5turbo and prior to that was a Mondeo ST220 but Sadly the fuel became ridiculous and it needed a fair amount of money on it , At the time I wanted Something bigger than the focus and all the bells and whistles . So on a Spur of the moment I bought a tit X ecoboost Mondeo with the mind set to remap it . I Nearly bought a tangerine scream the other day. But I'm not with the right insurance company to swap them over So I put off and Mrs talked me out of it . But you know it would be nice if ford offered a Sporty Looking 1.5 Tittanium instead of forcing you towards the thirsty ST.
got mine new in 2017, best car ive ever owned, shame ford has discontinued these in australia,,,,base model here is now the st....$$$$ just not value anymore. shame on you FORD. you had a winning car and you take it away. silly silly move.
