Ford Focus Engine Vibration Fix 

we have a ford windstar 2000 with a perfect service record. Our transmission went out at 122,000 miles. The transmission shop said we needed a new motor mount (which was a recall item in 2002) , so we had them put one on with our new rebuilt transmission. Total $2200. When we drove home from the shop the dash and passenger side door and seat started vibrating. Never had noise coming from the vehicle before. I even ran the vehicle after the transmission went out at home to listen to the engine and we laughed about how great the vehicle sounded. Now we have all this vibration from the shop...it is crazy.

Just bought a 2005 with 100 thousand for my daughters first car. Car is in great shape except it vibrates a little and being a girl she has to have that fixed. Your video couldn't be better. Very clear and precise. Even a rookie like me can pull this one off with these instructions. Thanks for the great video.

In my experience "the bottom stabalizer" the tq strut goes bad in a year like clockwork. Rock auto has it for 8 bucks. The bracket (atleast on the 2.3) is discontinued. Had to build one. They break super easy. Yes aftermarket mounts are pretty much all crap.

when replacing the transmission mount put the floor jack under the trans pan with the piece of would but just jack up slightly not to much or you will crush the pan . change all 3 at one time . i have the 03 with the 2.3 doc

I had a 02 and it had vibration at 40 thousand and in 07 I got a new focus and at 40 thousand same thing. Thanks I will do the mounts my self nice show

Hi again, the shop said top motor mounts are fine, they did put a new transmission mount, but the car still has vibration to it. What else could this be. Just thought you might have some ideas on this problem I am having with this. Thank you,

I was looking at it a believe it called the fan belt. Its right next to the anti freeze. It's like a pulley kinda looks like it broke.the rim thing around it looks like it's missing a piece

Thank you for your informative video but please don't ever get underneath a car when it is only supported by a jack. Always use axle stands or something similar, just in case your jack should fail, or if it should slip when using force to undo stubborn bolts.

Just came across this video. Excellent job of not only showing us where the mounts are, but in replacing them shade-tree mechanic style. I bought a 2000 with the 2.0l SPI for my granddaughter, and we've replaced a lot of stuff on it in the last few years. I bought her another vehicle to take to college (5 hours away), and I've been driving the Focus on weekends. (My wife calls it my "sports car". 😄 Well, compared to my truck, it is a fun little car.) The problem is that I've got 114K on it, and I've been getting intermittent P0303 codes (Cyl 3 Misfire), and I've run Lucas Injector Cleaner through it, and that seemed to work for a while. I have new injectors to install, but I learned of the dreaded Valve Seat Drop, and I fear that's on the horizon. Can anyone provide any insight, other than selling the car before this engine destroys itself? Thanks.

When you pulled the air cleaner box and then pointed out the "motor" mount I have to tell you that when buying these parts that is not the motor mount it is the transmission mount.

I've been wanting to do this, but I don't know how comfortable I feel putting a jack under the oil pan, even with a board.

I had a 2003 Focus. I went to merge on a highway and i heard a clunk and i didnt lose power when i was on the highway but then i got off of it and parked. I went maybe 6 hours later, because i was at work, and i started it. Then it wouldnt stay idling. It also vibrated hard. Trim pieces started unclipping themselves. Could I have thrown a rod? It started burning oil.

I have a 2011 Ford focus and when I accelerate, there's a good amount of fluttering from the engine​. it tend to happen more when I do a lot of stop and go as well as when there is 1 quarter of gas left. someone said it's due to air to gas ratios and it's trying to catch up. of that makes sense. what is your opinion on this? I told the dealership and they see no issue with the engine. Maybe it's my driving​ style?

HI, I have this 2000 ford focus just like yours, same engine, I just got it back today, they put a new transmission mount, and had a bad front driver side inner tire. Its not vibrating like it was or that knock sound under it, but I did notice when you crank it up, and sitting idle, it still has vibration, man there at carmart told me that is normal for a ford focus, they do have some vibration, its not bad like it was, there mecanic said the motor mounts was fine. What else do you think it is, or do you think it is the top motor mounts. Please let me know as soon as you get this message. Thank you very much.

i have a 05 zx3 with lots of vibration mostly while driving not so much when in nuetral. Tends to go away when i let off the gas or put it in nutral while moving. Im thinking its the passenger side motor mount.

Sorry, I want to ask a question about vibration in my 2006 Ford Focus it has 135,000.miles on it. . I got all 3 mounts changed still vibrating. They told the Harmonic Balancer was bad and was cause some vibration. They changed that and still vibrating. And in the past year I changed the tires, strut's, and the shocks on the back too. Still doing it. It vibrates in the seat, steering wheel, and dash. When it's in "N" sitting still it worse. "HELP" Thanks Tim

good video... BUT if you never jacked up the engine - you wouldn't have to remove the brackets - you would simply bush the engine forward as the dog bone does not bear much vertical load... That's the way I removed mine... very easy!

just bought an 08 focus 5 speed, it vibrates but not to much, My grandma has a focus and my uncle and they both also vibrate lmao common focus thing but it doesn’t rlly affect anything

I did this and there is still excessive vibration at all times except when some sensor clicks and it smooths out somewhat.

Even my 2015 Focus still does that. Love the car don't get me wrong but it's super annoying. Thankfully I drive mostly on the highway with minimal traffic

Thanks for the video, but an "easy" job is relative to where you live. If you live where they salt the roads when it snows, not so easy. PB Blaster helps a little and so does a 1,000 ft pounds torque wrench ;) The underside of the car in this video looks like it's never seen a grain of salt.

You pay for what you get. I'm tired of my 2008 focus. It's so noisy, it vibrates a lot. I haven't had any problems with it, but the fact it vibrates so much is bothering me a lot. Seriously, any girl can orgasm on the seats of my car. That's how bad it is. I'm buying an Infinity 2015.

That split port engine is shite. They drop valve rings after 150k

Usually the upper mount goes out at 30-45k, and the lower at 50k-85k. You don't have to replace all of them at 35K. The aftermarket ones are just as good as the OEM, which is not saying much lol. The OEMs are also garbage and only good for 35K
