I got my 2013 Ford Fusion 2.0 AWD Ecoboost Titanium in the winter of 2012. I have 86,000 miles on it and no major problems so far . The best things I like about this car is the style, ride, tech and how damn comfortable it is inside. The car truly is a looker and almost 10 years it still holds up . Its just a damn good good looking car. Some things I dont like about it and its a big one. When the engine is cold the shifts are really noticible to the point that I dont have confidence the trans will last to 110,000 miles. I love almost everything about this car and have had it for almost a decade but the transmission at least in mine is super iffy. It rips on sport mode though It pulls like a V6.
I had the 2010 fusion sport AWD with the 3.5 and it was nice but traded it in for the 2019 titanium eco boost AWD and it feels just as powerful. Definitely linking the fusion line from Ford. I'm a little iffy about the trans as well because of the turn knob instead of the gear shit selector. Hopefully it will last...but either way I'm loving the new ride.
Solid review! I have a 13' SE 1.6 Ecotech with 175,000 miles. Most reliable car I've ever owned. Aside from 7500 mile Mobil One changes and tires the only thing it's needed was a evap purge valve around 60k (covered under warranty), a spring on the gas door (also warranty), and a battery at 160k. Love the ecoboost low end torque. Car is happy to climb hills in 6th gear doing 70+ and turning 2500 RPMs. I'll be passing it down to my son at 200k with a used 19' or 20' Hybrid Titanium.
I just got a 2017 SE with 6 spoke wheels and it's an awesome little car. Came with 50k, rolled it over to 51k today and I can honestly say it's the best car I've owned.
Rob I have to say your video sold me..... great vid!!!!! Just got a 2016 Titanium with cooled seats and all the options and I couldn't be happier thus far - Thank you!!!!
The Bad: The 6-Speed 6F35 Automatic transmission. I had to replace mine at just 101,000 miles. I like everything else about the car, especially the body style. Even after more than 7 years, it still looks great. It has aged very well. While Toyota, Honda, Kia and Chevy 2013 model-year sedans look outdated, the Fusion still turns heads. Of course, mine has a few minor mods (steeda lowering springs, Chipecko Side Body Moldings, modified front grille) but they make a big difference.
@@claudiocerezo1644 I bought one on ebay that had 60,000 miles for $850 (including shipping to shop of my choice). Plus $550 to have it installed at a reliable transmission shop. Getting the transmission fully rebuilt would have set me back $3,400 with a one year full warranty. I was in between jobs, so that price was out of my budget, but I still needed the car. As you know, buying used car parts is a bit on a gamble, but if you check up on the selling company, you can confirm they're dependable. Oh, and don't try to buy one of the so-called remanufactured transmissions. Most are super shady according the online reviews. And they cost no less than $3,000. Good luck, man. If you have the money, know of a good trans repair shop and plan to keep the car for a long time, rebuild it.
Replaced my 6F35 at 110,000 miles with a remanufactured transmission with 3 year warranty. (and 500,000 miles!) as if. Much tighter shifts than the old one when it was working. $5400 installed. (California)
From an owners perspective. My grandma leased a 2016 Ford Fusion SE in ruby red paint exterior with tinted windows and has the technology package with sync 2 touchscreen and rear sensing system and Sirius XM radio. Has the built in blind spot ford mirrors and the turn signal mirrors. Has the 16 inch alloy wheels and the ruby red paint looks so good and pretty on it. My grandma got this at 120miles on the odometer brand new and this car sat at a dealership for 4 months before it was bought. This also has the normal 2.5L and averaged 25.0 MPG throughout the 3 years of the ownership. My grandma is turning this in tomorrow. Has about 44,000 miles and got inspected today. She only has to pay for the excess mileage and no damage done to the vehicle so far. It’s been a great car and my grandma replaced it with a brand new 2019 Nissan Rogue SL with the premium package. Has the rear sensors. Back up camera with around view monitor. Has the gunmetal gray exterior with the panoramic sunroof and the premium package. Has fog lights and LED lights. Has cameras on the mirrors, windshield and the rear. Has the push to start, remote start and power tailgate. It has all the new safety features and it’s very loaded and it’s the top of the line SL and has every single option except for the AWD and the ambient lighting. Was a $34,620 SUV and she got a 3 year lease on it. Has the heated steering wheel and heated seats. Also has navigation Sirius XM radio and Bose audio system . Black leather interior. Carbon fiber door handles. Has the 18 inch alloy wheels with the new Nissan spokes. Has steering assist, blind spot monitoring. Brake assist, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection. Rear automatic braking system. And a foot activated power tailgate. This car is some much more nicer than her fusion. She loves her fusion but she wanted an SUV and something different and she got one now. I forgot to say that the her Nissan Rogue gets better gas mileage to. Gets 27.0 average. Has an ECO mode and sport mode. ECO mode helps it get better gas mileage. When I drove it a few times I liked this Rogue and it’s got the d cut steering wheel and it’s a very sporty and higher up SUV and it’s nicer to drive it because it’s fully loaded and it’s nice. Has the 2.5L with 170HP. I think this Rogue is faster than her fusion IMO because when I drive her fusion it’s peppy but it isn’t as fast off the line compared to my 2010 Toyota Camry LE with the 169HP 2.5L I4 with dual VVT-I and SMPI. My Camry would still beat her Rogue but her Rogue is 2-3 seconds faster than her fusion.
Just traded in my 2008 Cobalt(manual everything inc trans) for a 2016 Fusion Titanium last month, very impressed so far. Thanks for teaching me I can lock the door by pressing on those lines, heh.
Michael J agreed! And unless you own a Fusion you don’t even really notice a difference between a base model or a higher end trim. And as usual right after I purchased it I started seeing Fusions everywhere haha
There's a *reason* there are so many on the road. It's a genuinely good car. It looks good, it goes good, it's freaking comfortable, and it will actually handle twisty roads good, and it even gets good gas mileage.
Mine has 60.000 miles. I brought it to ford dealer to change the oil. They asked me to change something. Actually my car still runs good.I’m thinking about those. Does Anyone gives me recommend.
They're not getting rid of the fusion, ford decided that the fusion will stay, but not in a sedan form. The next fusion will be based off the mondeo sport wagon to compete against subaru's outback.
Nice review. I have a 2018 SE with the Tech Package and it's hands down the best car I've ever owned. The only real complaint I have is I didn't get the 2.0 Ecoboost lol, but the 1.5 Eco has plenty of pep. Much more than I expected.
Hi Rob, being a proud Fusion owner myself, I would like to say that Ford Fusion has been one of the best cars manufactured till date. I have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE AWD, with 18" rims. I remember you saying that you switched to Michelin tires, but could you please give me few more options to consider , for the tires? I am in Colorado.
I have Firestone Weathergrip tires on mine and they are an amazing value. I live in Wisconsin and they work well all year round ( which is the point) seem to wear well also.
Just decided look up Ford Fusion reviews because I got my driving lesson tmr and want to know a little bit more abt these cars and how nice/ bad they were and it seems it’s a damn nice car for what it is
I bought a first production 2013 SE model and unfortunately my car was a bit of a lemon, by 50,000 km (not miles!!!!) I had used my factory warranty for 7 visits, issues with the capless gas tank, issues with turbo turbines, leaking moonroof, and so on with recall upon recall for safety and other features 😭 All that said - I would totally buy the 2018 which seems to have fixed so many issues, the fusion fit my lifestyle, was a good size (bit big for downtown Toronto driving, but you get used to it after a little while if you’re used to smaller cars), and Ford’s ‘pick and choose’ of options made it so easy to optimize and customize it to me.
So..... Let me start by Saying, I love my 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium, Gray! 3yrs 63,000 miles. Love everything about it. EXCEPT!!! My car transmission sucks, had trouble with lagging when shifting. My car had sensors replaced, purge valve and now the transmission. I'm forever sad, idk if I got a bad car. This all happen within the last 4 months, so I'm paying for a car that keeps going back to the dealership for repairs or recalls!.They should totally recall the car for the transmission. Thank God for my extended warranty with the purchase of GAP insurance. Trade in or re-sale value it really devalues this car! My heart hurts to having to let go of my dream car because Ford let me down! Have your transmission check!!!!
Great review, great car, people complaining about Ford getting pretty much out of the car business, look around no one is buying cars anymore it’s all about SUV’s and Pickup Trucks. In 2017 I bought an F150 powered by the 2.7 ecoboost, it’s a rocket ship that is comfortable, quiet and for what it is gets great fuel economy! As soon as the Star Bucks crowd goes back to cars Ford will be back in the car business.
FYI that may be useful. The screen froze on my 2017 Platinum in Feb 2020. Had 31 months of ownership, with 14,000 miles. No screen functions worked, but the starting and drivability were not affected. I researched and found the a APIM was the probable culprit. The dealer replicated my complaint and replaced the APIM under warranty. The problem is completely fixed and actually is better than it was brand new. I don’t know if it as a software update or an updated part but it added an orange color and a series of radar looking lines that make the clearance next to objects and behind, much easier to back up safely. Everything turns off immediately, when I exit the car. When new, it took about 30 seconds for the screen to turn off. I read somewhere that someone was quoted $ 800 for the repair, by their dealer. Love this car. Glad I got the Platinum. Want to keep it forever.
Hey man, I watch a lot of RU-vid, like a fuckton of RU-vid. And I have to say, You sir have a fine video. Mean that. Not just from a review stand point but also editing, sound, narration. Good job 👍 With that out of the way, I was looking at this car so I'm glad I stumbled onto your video, you included the cons. Great review man.
@@fernandoramirez8822 Still nothing because the ones I found for a great price are gone and waiting for the next opportunity. Being that this is taking longer than expected I guess because the Corona virus), I may go for a 2010 to 2012 Fusion SPORT trim instead.
CR dropped reliability ratings of 2017 from above average to the lowest rating? Electrical issues. Could the window bounce back issue be causing this? I had this problem. Dealer played dumb. I found five tech bulletins. Demanded they be followed. Problem solved. Mine is 2017 Platinum. Fine car. Great ride. One year in. No other problems. As you say, I still like looking at it. People walk over and just stare at it.
The biggest problem the 2017 models had was the battery drain issue. Early production models had an issue with the ACM (audio control module) causing the battery to drain. I'd be a bit weary of CR's reliability ratings. Although the ratings are based on actual, verified owners of the vehicle and legitimate concerns, they also factor in trivial complaints by people.
GianMaria Volonte I agree. Also, per CR, over 3% issues causes a bad reliability rating. It’s a comparison to all new cars. That means 96 % of owners could be problem free, and it is still rated unreliable. Mine is one year old next week. I’m still amazed how everything works so well.
Hey Rob, new subscriber here. Great video. I just traded in my 2005 F250 6.0 about 4 days ago for a 2015 1.5 Fusion SE with 70K on it. Really like it so far. They had to replace an emission sensor and spark plugs as it had a misfire reading and there was also 2 safety recalls on it which Ford took care of. It is good to hear for the most part the positive feedback you give. I have always done most of my own maintenance and was surprised to find out these do not have a way to check the transmission fluid and they don't have a filter. What is your view on this matter? The reason I am asking is I have always changed the fluid and filters every 50K. Have a great day. One more thing, I noticed my instrument panel is different from your. Mine has a tach on the left and speedometer on the right.
Does anyone have a problem with the transmission?! Mine is Titanium 2017 and it shifts hard going from the 2nd gear to the 3rd gear. Also my friend has the same problem in a 2014.
Osama Habeeb, my mechanic had it serviced for the hard shift by ford under warranty around 60k. I can't recall what they did but I never noticed much difference. Its most notable if im pulling up my driveway (which is a hill), and I accelerate just enough to cause a 1-2 shift. Otherwise it's not too noticeable day to day.
Got the 2017 Platinum. Wanted all the safety features including AWD. Self parking is practical where I live. Awesome. I think the Ceramic whitish seats made the difference. It lightens up the whole car. Resale value? Difference of a few thousand, big deal. My understanding is that the Platinum model will be discontinued after 2018. Was cannibalizing Lincoln MKS sales. Identical inside to loaded MKS. Think MKS has better engine options. Scraped my 19 inch wheel. Over $1000 to replace. $500 for refurbished one using my core. One problem area. Window bounce back issue. Took it in. Lousy fix. Problem started again. I researched and Ford has 5 technical bulletins on window bounce back for the 2017 Fusion. Printed it, told dealer I wanted the bulletin followed. Problem solved. Great ride. I still turn around and love the styling. Incredible ride. With AWD, about 19 mpg, all local. Rumors of Ford discontinuing most sedans. Sure. Right after Toyota and Honda discontinue Camry and Accord.
Paul Stein hear ya with the wheels.. I have a '13 se. Black/chrome. Had those ugly 17s on it, some reason I thought buying used titanium 19s from Ford was a good idea.. after finding a decent tire I was almost 3k into swapping wheels.. I felt like a dumbass, but adding the window tint with those wheels really set the whole car off. I now do that turn around thing when leaving my car.
800 for rear brakes sounds like you got taken. You should not have to replace the rotors at less than 100k miles unless something weird is going on. If you need new pads, they can re-surface the rotors and get more life out of them. Rotors can be resurfaced at least once without going under the minimum thickness and needing replacement.
I thought the same thing but the brakes were pulsing really badly which rotors will do if they are below spec. I’m probably going to have to replace the front pads soon so we’ll see how those rotors are looking.
If rotors are pulsing they are out of spec - out of round - and should be resurfaced. There's usually enough material to cut them down once during their lives. There's no additional labor to put a new one in but there's a big incentive for them to sell you a new pair. Your service department might have just been lazy and wanted to make that sale & put new ones in. Of course there's no way for us consumers to know for sure. This is what is bad about car service. Also if your rotors were really pulsing badly at a fairly young mileage I wonder if there's something wrong or you are just driving hard. I've had 2 Ford Mustangs and Ford's rotors were better than GM's, never warped.
I recently changed my own brakes and rotors and I purchased a set for $200 on Amazon. Honestly just do them yourself. This was the first time I ever changed brakes myself and it's so much easier than it looks.
Mine dropped the moitor and tranny at 106k. luckily i found a wrecked one with 36k miles oin it to replace them with rather than buying new from ford. cost me $5300 installed with parts and labor.
i know this question might sound a little dumd but im not really an autohop type of a guy im more of a cyber guy . but do you have to shift in sports mode on these cars. Edit nvm I own the car now you dont have to
Im currently leasing a 2016 Fusion Sport Fully Loaded basically a Titanium but with SE badging. My lease ends in 9 months and I wanted your opinion on whether its a good investment to buy this car out?? Great Channel and wonderful work on the video, actual quality content.
That’s awesome - I was going to get a loaded SE with AWD but once I saw the 19s I had to get a Titanium. The SE 18” rims look good too though and I could’ve always purchased aftermarket wheels later on. My Fusion has been very reliable so I think it’s a good buy. It’s hard to say if it’s a good investment with the way cars depreciate but you’ve paid a lot of the depreciation already so if you like it and want to keep it I would buy your current one rather than leasing another Fusion. That’s just my opinion though
Awesome dude definitely will take your opinion into consideration I as well believe buying it out will be a good option! Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Juan Garcia damn bro where do you drive? I bet you deliver in it or drive for Uber and Lyft while making long road trips from Cali to NY and back every week, lol. That’s some serious mileage and I thought I had put a lot of miles on mine. I’ve had my SE 1.5 ecoboost for almost 2 years (in November) I bought her with 32K and as of this moment she has 74,622.3 on the odometer. So I what 44k on it in less than 2 years. You’re doing that in less than a year. How’s yours holding up?
Deucealive75 As of Nov. 25 2018 Not even 2 weeks after you left your comment I was rear ended while sitting at a traffic light and USAA went ahead and totaled her out. Smh! After 2 months with a rental and waiting for my claim to be settled and have the remaining $13K on my loan paid off I went and looked at some Fusions, even made an offer on one but ultimately at the last minute I found myself test driving a 2017 NISSAN Maxima SL with 17K miles and decided to buy it. Sooo Unfortunately No more Fusion For Me! I miss having a bunch of space in the Fusion. I miss the tuxedo Black speckled paint, also how beautiful she looked with the 19” black 5 spoke rims on her. She was beautiful I can’t say it enough. Today is Feb 12, 2019 and I’ve had my new Maxima for about a month now and it’s a really nice car, quick as hell too. I’m happy with it but I should’ve waited a bit and went with a Fusion I could’ve gotten a brand new 2018 or even 2019 for what I paid for the Maxima.
Definitely comfortable seats 😴 one of my very own first cars, I have the SE AWD, its 6yo. With almost 165,0000 on it, still drives like a kitten, engine sounds like a tractor motor lol definitely has some roar under that hood 👍
Have a 15' fusion that the rear lights stay on remove battery.... Its computer detected that rear lights were on decreasing speeds when there wereat 50+mph so it slows down vechicle.. We have that problem is now fixed.. From a rely
just got one Mainly based on all the reviews that I’ve seen :edit: it was total crap. Within three days the electronic steering brakes and throttle control all failed at the same time wile doing 75 on the interstate. The car almost killed my entire family. Ended out being faulty coding in the control modules for all three. This was a brand new car just rolled off the transporter.
I have the 2014 Fusion Hybrid SE, built in September 2013. Today I managed 48 MPG, but I did reach a peak of 54 MPG on a longer trip. The tires and brake pads are still factory original, and the ONLY parts changed are the oil and filter, done one a year for $42. I can do that myself but this Fusion had a large underbody plastic cover held with nine bolts, and requires a lift which I don't have. So, the annual oil changes are done by my dealer. Nothing else has been needed, not even coolant or any other fluids changed. I spend less than $60 a year in gasoline (the tank only holds 11 gallons for over 450 miles of range), plus the $42 oil and filter change, so I have spend only $400 in four years!! No other vehicle can claim a lesser cost unless it is electric.
Your Hf35 Hybrid transmission is known to go bad by 80-100k. Get transmission oil change ASAP. Get extended warranty if you dont plan to get rid of it.
I have the same exact one, we have the tecarotta (idk how to spell it) package, which gives those rims for Titanium trims instead of those multi spoke 18 inches. But the 19 inch i have and ur car has are much nicer. Only difference we have is mine is black
"Decarb Service" That's the killer strike against buying this car or any turbo charged DGI engine. Scotty Kilmer is right. These engines are badly engineered and too expensive to maintain over time. I'm buying a 2020 Avalon instead.
I have had a 2014 Ford Fusion has a 1.5L Ecoboost with 95k miles, ive had it since December and its been great so far, just needs some plastics on the inside and need the antenna replaced, i also want to get a tune eventually.
@@kirrus4781 good just replaced my satellite antenna which was a pain in the ass but everything else is good, if you get a fusion id recommended getting the 2.0T because it has the most power, 181hp in a 3500lb sedan is a little underpowered.
@@lethargicstove2024 that's the thing, I bought before doing my research. I've always liked this Fusion design and I saw one for a decent price and I bought it. Started doing research about it after and I read allot of bad things about the 1.5 and there transmission. But the car drives good so far did all the fluid change and spark plugs as I always do when I buy a used car and everything checked out good. Mines has 86.5k on it we'll see what happens. Going to drive it like all my cars with love and hopefully it will last me 1 year or 2 that's how long I keep my card for usually. It's also my 2nd car, I have my F-150 but I don't like driving it all the time. Time will tell, thank you so much for the info brother 👍
@@kirrus4781 it's my first car, I tried to talk my parents into getting one with either the 2.5 or 2.0T but mine was in very good shape, it's been good so far
@@lethargicstove2024as a owner of a 2013 titanium who’s had it over a year. It’s been fair. I love the design and color but my AC constantly gives me problems at least 5x in under a year I’ve gone to a mechanic.
Does your ford fusion ever jerk form 2nd to 3rd gear, I have a 2013 ford fusion titanium and it jerks from 2nd to 3rd, do you think it's a transmission fluid thing or I should be concerned?
Make sure they check your transmission check for leaks or messed up coolant sensor. I'm having my transmission replaced right now! My extended warranty is covering it. Kept going back to the dealership for the same issue. 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium
Do you know the ground clearance of the car? The front end looks low, i have underground parking, i wouldn't want to take the nose off of it. thinking of getting 2014 fusion titanium.
Let's talk tires. My 15 Fusion Hybrid is great all around. (I do wish it was a regular drivetrain such as the 2.0, but the MPG, insanely smooth, quite and comfortable ride makes up for it.) However the skinny Michelin MPG Assurance tires are a joke. They will squill around slow turns, and completely take away from the sedans great cornering. All for what? Another 1 MPG? I've been working rather eagerly to kill these tires so I can get some normal tires, but they last forever with the hard rubber compound.
Please tell me how much miles or kilometers you can do with a Fusion? I love the car, but seems it has a very small engine. It would last 1MM kilometers? Merdeces Benz wil do for sure! But Fusion?...Thanks!
In theory you’re right, but low profile tires have a softer compound and leave more rubber on the road. I have 19” wheels on my X5 as well but it’s an SUV tire with a much bigger sidewall and harder compound so they tend to last longer.
Rim size doesnt always effect tire hieght. Tires with 17" and 19" rims have same height. Both fill the wheel wells. The 19's have a larger rim but less height on the sidewall. The 17 has smaller rim but taller sidewall. Thats why cars with bigger rims have harsh ride because that lack of sidewalls reduces amount of suspension and noise reduction.
Not really, that’s just how it is with the 19s since they are low profile tires. If you get a Fusion with 18s or 17s the tires should last significantly longer.
