Ford Ranger 2.3 O2 Locations & Bank 1 Sensor 2 (Downstream) Replacement

Vehicle is a 1995 Mazda B2300 2.3 Liter SOHC (Same as Ford Ranger), code P0138. I am demonstrating how to remove an O2 sensor, also showing the locations for both senors. The exhaust pipe close to the first cylinder is bank 1. To find out which sensor is 1 or 2, the 1st sensor is located after the catalytic converter, and the 2nd is before it. Hope this helps. The first sensor (upstream) is close to the exhaust manifold outlet and before the catalytic converter. The second O2 sensor (downstream) is after the catalytic converter and toward the tail pipe. You have these backward in your video. Exhaust starts in the engine, moves through the exhaust manifold, into the exhaust pipe, then catalytic converter and on to the muffler and tailpipe.

Good Video! Are the upstream and downstream sensors identical? I can only find upstream sensors for sale.

No, they are not the same. Have you tried your local auto parts store (O'Reilly's, Autozone, PepBoys, Napa, Advanced Auto, etc)? If so, try RockAuto they have most make and models on their website.

98 ranger 2.5. P0141 bank 1 sensor 2 is the same one you replaced in this video ?

So sensor 2 is the one furthest to the rear of the vehicle?

@@FelixElGato007 thanks My issue, upon further inspection, is different. The drive shaft dampener ring came off and has damaged the wire before the connection. So, bigger issues.

if both these are bad whats could be the symptoms. im having a rough idle in my 2.5 ranger :)

If your engine is running rough, it could be a vacuum leak, bad fuel injectors, spark plugs, o2 sensors, and etc. If I were you, I'd try to go with the easy stuff first vacuum leaks is probably the easiest. Also, check for any codes if you have any. For fuel injector cleaning try a can of seafoam or some Marvel Mystery oil and pour some inside the gas tank, see if it helps. (:

@@FelixElGato007 my code reader said bank 1 and bank 2 solenoids are bad, plus a couple other codes. ill probably replace sensors first and go from there, thx for the response and video man

@@hunteralan2165 Sorry, I thought you were talking about my other video. If these are bad, your car or truck can indicate lean or rich fuel mixture, either the voltages could be high or low, depending on the code. Both solendoids are bad you say, I would check the voltages on both sensors. You would need to replace them. That could be the cause for your rough idle.
