In this video I find the donor 8.8 axle in the junkyard. Bring it back to the garage and disassemble it in prep for installing into the ranger.

FWIW: If you want a drop in 8.8 31 spline rearend for your Ranger, find one out of a 2002 FX4 Off Road, or a 2003 FX4 Level II. They both came with 31 spline axles and Torsen differentials.

That is very true, except they wont have disc brakes :(

Why remove the sway bar ? It’s a drastic improvement to the handling, at least in my opinion. I don’t understand why no one ever uses it ?

I agree. It makes a big difference on handling.

In minute 6:21 looks so easy to remove C-clips, My question is what prevents them from coming out while it is running?
@paule01
@paule01 28 дней назад
@@javieraranda2952 The c-clips are unable to be removed while the centre pin is installed. The centre pin doesnt allow the axles to have any slack in them to gain access to the clips. You can kind of see when I remove the pin the axles shaft can be moved towards the centre of the diff. Hope that makes sense

@@paule01 Sorry, last question, I promess. What is the torque for the bolt in the center pin?
@paule01
@paule01 27 дней назад
@@javieraranda2952 no problem, I believe the manual says 15-30 ft-lbs. I did 20 and used some loc-tite as well for extra safety

@paule01

I believe this was a 1998 Ford explorer and it had the 4.0L engine

For the ignorant - why are you doing this?
@paule01
@paule01 11 месяцев назад
Thats a great question and now that I think of it I probably should of explained in the video. The 8.8 rear end has disc brakes, limited slip differential and stronger axles. My Ranger came factory with a 7.5 rear end, drum brakes and a open differential.
