Fools and their money....easily parted.....locals own 4wd as a necessity....tourists save up,spend oodles put all sorts of trinkets on the 4wd,travel halfway across the country to trash in some sort of dick swingjng contest
I would love to give this a go on my may 2015 cape trip but unfortunately judging by the video's and talk going around this one isn't "do-able". On one of 4wd actions recent dvd's Grahame was saying that its not passable unless you're in a comp truck these days. Mate of mine did the cape this year and he reckons its literally an 8-10 vert wall drop off. Kind of a sphincter tightening drop off , especially when you're thousands of kay from home. Seen a few vids of this over the years and it also shits me to see that amongst the great people that are happy to help others with negotiating correct lines or crossing creeks and rivers, attaching snatch straps etc, you still get the fucktards standing on the sidelines sporting a beer telling you to "you'll be right mate its fine get on in just to see you fuck up. Always walk your rivers and creeks and only tackle things you believe is safe for you and your vehicle and you'll be right.
Hi George, this video was taken in 2012, I could imagine that they would be a bit worse off now. But my suggestion is to make the decision when you get there, we had heard a lot of talk on our way up that we wouldn't be able to get down it, but we got there and knew we could get down there. Yes a lot of planning was done before hand with snatch straps & having another car down the bottom ready to go incase something went wrong. We also stayed behind to help the next bloke through. They also told us that we wouldn't get across Nolans Brooke (56 cars had already been flooded that season) but 1.5hr of walking the bottom and deciding the best path we got 7 cars through one after another
Is that a diesel ranger ? We never got diesel rangers in America. I had a 93 and a 04 ranger and they were great off road trucks. I got 300,000 out of my last one on original drive train before I got rid of it.
What an insane !!! These guys play game to drive through rough terrain. Look at some mountainous country who really suffer the natural road terrain for their daily needs and drive through those dangerous terrain. Better let these guys drive over there in natural conditions than just a fake drive.
Remember the Mr Majestyk movie when they had this guy in an F100 leaping from rock to rock and doing jumps and stuff showing how tough the Fords were. I was told they used lots of F100s to film that. When we jumped our F100 once it broke the chassis. Pretty easy welding job to fix it. I told Steve not to brake hard on the drop, but would he listen? A luxy with raised suspension would do this easy.
you need 5" lift,35x12.5 tires at least,& a dana 44 solid front would help.with lunchbox locker,mine has that,but all 8 stud axles,d60 rear.'78 rear leafs,2" higher.ZF 5sp..OR,,just buy a 1975 highboy,f250,cut it to swb.locker front,job done.mine is 26" to the sill..std..
Interesting question mate. What I find even more interesting is that you apparently watched a video on Gunshot just to complain about people doing Gunshot. Isn't that somewhat counterproductive?
I'm hoping to get a 2007 hilux for my first car and my mate wants the same hilux and he wants to go to gunshot creek I said fuck that maybe a couple years
holly shit,shit,no,for fk sake,dont get a hilux.there prone to rolling,even today,s.too narrow,too high.if,you do get a hilux,fit the biggest wheels you can,[have to change diff ratios too,].really,best 2 vehicles to buy,are,80 series,or,gu nissan.id get the nissan,as it has a transmision brake.but,both are around 12k,ish..it has to be a 6 cyl turbo..4 cyls are no fkn good..save up.or get a loan..i like my u.s 4b,s.cheap,shit loads of parts,reliable.all parts from 1965 interchange.petrol/diesel.but..its your pear pressure choice..DO NOT,EVER EVER,BUY IFS.!
