I bought this Curt hitch off Amazon for $104, the first hitch I received was bent due to shipping. Amazon was very helpful in sending me a new one the same day I returned the bent one to UPS.
I feel like I owe you a beer. You saved me a ton in installation fees, and it only took me about 20 minutes to completely install the new hitch. The tip about loosening instead of removing the back bolt is a real timesaver.
I put on a Reese hitch. My instructions had the back metal plate going between the frame and the hitch. This seemed to be perfect as there is a small gap there. Be sure to check your instructions and make sure that it doesn't go between the two instead of on the outside like in this video. Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Yes you are correct. There is a void on his where he didn't put the square spacer between the frame and the hitch but if it hasn't fallen off by now it probably won't.
Good info, I will be installing one today. Thanks Just an FYI...the forward mount, 2nd square spacer goes between hitch & the frame. (per instructions).
Been pulling my trailers with the bumper hitch but have an adjustable Reese I got from my son. Bought an impact recently for my hangar bearing, so this should be easy work. Thanks for the look, I crawl under these days but it's just tough getting back out😉
I am glad I watched this those other bumper screws that hold the hitch in the place I was struggling to install my hitch by myself you justed saved me a lot of Tylenol!. Thanks
I used to install hitches at uhaul. Not sure its kosher but I used to bend hitches back all the time. Most common way is I would stick the bent ear into the slot in the ramps used to raise the truck. Then pull on the hitch till it was straight. Idk if that weakens anything? Just what I did.
massey quick request. Can you go over how to remove and replace your back and front bumper? I know you don't have to replace yours but it would be nice to have a guide when I do it to my 97 ranger.
Pure muscle and, if needed, a little heat. Regularly bend 1" steel here. Heat is the key. But that steel that was bent looks like 3/8 max. I have enough weight/strength to put that in a vise and bend it.
Man i put a beand new reese towpower hitxh on my truck a week ago an today i was towing 3000 pounds of tile which is way to much for a ranger any way lol and i actualy bent my frame about a quarter inch.. Lol dont tow 3000 pounds!!!!!!! Bad idea! (Just sayin)
