Next time you don't need to check wires. Look at the back of the speaker with plug on. The + and - are 99% always the same out of the back of any cone from the coil of the speaker. So simply place new speakers and old speaker next to each other. Magnet up. The unmarked factory speaker terminal is the exact same as the marked new speaker. As far as the + and - go. Easy way to remember.
Another helpful video from you, So ya, thanks for all of em, I got my 2008 Ranger with lots of new parts with all your help!! You Da Man!! Love the flags on the back!! Thank you for your service to out great country!!!
I just installed a pair of this babies on my 09 miata, noise proof the doors, plus put some baffles and the resoult is amazing! Sometimes is not about the brand, but about the correct way of installing speakers.
One thing you can do also is buy baffles to fill in the speaker hole prior to installing the speaker. Helps with bass and will also keep the speaker clean. I used Infinity Reference speakers both front and rear of my 04 Ranger Edge, added an Alpine 4 channel amp and she sounds sweet as can be.
Sorta cracks me up, wanted to upgrade speakers because I’m assuming he’s a music fan. But didn’t notice there were no back speakers. Which are ironically placed right against the seat back, so you wouldn’t hear them anyway. 😂
Under the vynle under the driver seat is the wiring harness to the rear speakers that are missing. The truck is wired for them!!! find the wiring diagram online. Feel for the harness cut into the floor and find your rear speaker colors to tap into and toss in the rear speakers. I did this and just adjusted all my speaker volume away from the side doors by fading max to the rear.
you have to keep in mind that the ford ranger was made to be a poor man's work truck. they were built to be rugged reliable work horses so luxuries like fancy stereos and power windows were after thoughts, so if you wanted those things you had to get them as ad ons.
They sell harnesses so you don't have to cut any wires. About 5 bux a pair off eBay, Amazon or Walmart. Search "2003 Ford Ranger Speaker Harness" and change the year, make and model to yours. '98-Up Fords is Metra 72-5600. Buy two kits for 4 speaker sound. You can cut if you want, but crimping on connectors sounds less appetizing then plugging in correct harnesses. (thumbs up)
thanks for this. just got a 02 ford like this and was about to start looking for speakers with a connector to make it easy. now i wont be limited thank you
I believe those are 6x8 . i have 6x9 gonna use my jigsaw and some zipscrews got the pionner 3 way speakers for 5 each at the pull it yard gonna make a video real soon thanx for your vid now i can door the door panel.
why didnt you spend the 5 bucks to get the OE speaker connector ? would have saved time. I just did mine with some Kicker 6x8 took 10 min per door, sounds way better.
I have a ranger to I saw the connectors when I was looking for speakers, considering they are about $8 each it's just as easy and FREE to use the wires the speaker comes with and cut off the connectors
I have to do the same thing on my 2008 Ford Ranger XL standard cab 4 cylinder , My speakers are starting to crackle, There was a good deal on some Polk Audio speakers, The original wires should be good, I would hate to have to dig under the dash board to put thicker speaker wires in,
@massey706 What exactly did you do at 7:59? Like after you stripped the factory wire? I just got brand new speakers but I can't find any speaker harness/adapters that fit my 2011 ford ranger particular, so, I am going to have do it the way you did it at 7:59
I have a 2011 ranger too .look at crutchfield.com they have the speaker harness part number 72-5601 metra for 99and up ford ranger $12.99 the company is out of Charlottesville, Virginia they will hook you up im doing the same thing to my ranger im doing all kenwood system.
Please use lock washers on the spk mounting bolts as they will loosen over time from vibration and then it will vibrate from bass! u shoulda give us a demo w/ the door shut. OK.
First off those speakers are a waste of time I bought them thinking it was an improvement. If you don’t plan on upgrading, most likely your not replacing to begin with. Plan to toss if you add an amp. They bottom out with low wattage.
+massey706 did you ever end up hooking those other two speakers in the empty slots in the back? I just bought two speakers and the same amp sub that you installed. wanting to go all out and get two more speakers for the back but im not sure how hard the install will be since there's no wiring. suppose i should wait until i get everything installed and see how it sounds first
+grappler7343 Still don't have speakers back there, but plan on doing a video soon on how to set those up if the truck never had those speakers to begin with
Mazda 2006 B2300. I put these on my Mazda. Best thing I ever did. Done back in 2014. Still working good. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XWG7R2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Harbor freight tools, harbor fright speakers. Stay clear these speakers are garbage. I bought four and they can’t handle any amp, they clip strictly factory radio.
