Welcome back to The Empty Garage! Today we dive into the incredible Mustang GTD. Enjoy and be sure to subscribe for more great content on your favorite rides.
Yes sir, I've already applied for ownership of the GTD days after it's announcement a couple months ago. I've just started the second phase of my ownership. It's a hurry up and wait process, I've got my fingers crossed, wish me luck. My 22 gt500 carbon is a beast on the track easily beating exotics twice it's price. The GTD should be a straight up destroyer of supercars if everything is true to form. I can't wait.
You must have a dame good job to afford 2 nice cars a gt500 ate nothing to sniz 😊 at. So if this G.T.D. is mostly made of carbon fiber it most be North of 100k 😢. Well good luck to you Mr. money bags.
@@scottstudebaker2959 Closer to 300k for the GTD, I've owned a trucking company since 96 and a construction company since 05. I do okay, no where close to the 1% but I'm able to afford a nice toy every now and then, besides you can't take it with you. As my wife says, the only difference between men and boys are the price of their toys. (Says the woman with more shoes than I care to count)
Anyone complaining about the price of this Mustang isn’t a Mustang fanatic. Price is no option for a car like this. If I had the scratch I would get it It’s a must have for any Stang lover. This is Fing engineering art. All I’ll be able to afford is the 1:18 scale. But I’m not mad. I’m just glad Ford has put this kind of love and dedication behind the Mustang. I’ve owned four Mustangs. And I’ve loved them all.
It seems Ford is sooooooo close to recreating the Hoonicorn Mustang for us. I agree with the twin turbo comment over the supercharger. All wheel drive...Ken Block lay'd it down for Ford to pick up. This might also create the stability required to get the Mustang invited back to "Cars and Coffee".
Ford and Jim Farley would you please allow Scott Mclaughlin to drive this amazing car and make our dreams come true. In my opinion the best driver ford has had in many many years ???
You could drive the 2025 Ford GTD to the Trans Am racing event while entering and taking the win, then drive away from the event, with repeating this through the entire Tans Am series. Just because it has liceince plates for the street does not mean it is not a qualified Trans Am series contender
That won't happen. The current Mustang used in Trans Am has as much if not more HP and is plenty strong. The GTD is the street version of the Mustang GT3 used in SCCA road racing. The GTD has equipment and technology that excludes it from SCCA road racing. It is really a street version of the GT3 Mustang.
Hey all, thanks so much for checking out what we're up to here at The Empty Garage! We're having a blast creating this content and are looking for some feedback on what kind of cars, trucks, SUVs, EVs, or otherwise that you'd like to see us review? We're aiming to dive deep on some of the more obscure details that make all these vehicles so interesting, but would like to make sure YOU find them interesting too! So let us know - thanks!
It is still a little tall, big and heavy for a GT3 so Ford gave it 800 hp.This is great for taller drivers in the road car. Unfortunately, the IMSA and WEC track car was forced to be naturally aspirated and given 250 less hp.So it is slower on the turns than the other GT3`s and not allowed to have the blazing straight line speed where it would kick ass. The only way it will win a race is if the other cars break down, make mistakes or the BOP is changed somehow by the officials, Ha.It`s weird that the homologated road car would beat the race car on track.
When did “torques” become a unit of measurement for torque? And “NORburgring” out of Nürburgring? And “bronze color magnesium wheels”? No…they are magnesium color.
I am Khaled from kingdom of Bahrain 🇧🇭 ford GT in ford GTD lover 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸best in best car in the world 🌎 perfect in perfect car in all this world 💜💜💜🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸GTD beautiful name D💙🇺🇸GTD🇺🇸💜💙🇺🇸💜💙🇺🇸💜💙
Actually, the track car is the Mustang GT3, and this GTD car is a racer born just for the street, as it won't qualify for any road racing class due to its supercharger and some other mods. The 2nd. gen. Ford GT had the same restriction.
@@JoseLopez-vp8vu I could honestly care less hahaha, I wouldn’t want a family name that people talk about the unreliability of a product I make. Ford has been unreliable and junk for years and years. I love Ford fan boys getting butt hurt about someone’s opinions. You made my day.. THANKS! 😉
Not sure why you got 2 thumbs up. Considering Ford was the ones who produced the assembly line so we could have choices. After 100+ yrs….they’re still around.
I will like to ask ford ceo what is so great or awesom about a car that the majority of average hard working americans can't afford people dont get impressed with something they can't never have or enjoy this is not the ultimate machine it is the ultimate booshit.
Lots of fact checking needed in this video. Images of 2000 R when referencing the terminator? The GT350 Voodoo was a 5.2, not 5.4 News to me! Your garage is going to STAY empty if this is the content you are pushing.
@doingcarthings thanks for the call out and clarification. Both errors we should have caught before this one went live. We are looking to get better with each video and sincerely respect the need for detail accuracy when it comes to cool rides on this channel. Have a good one.
@theemptygarage I highly respect your ability to take accountability and overly harsh criticism and reply respectfully and accept the critiques. Props and I look forward to your success 👍
@@TheCdM1981 they are aiming a sub 7minute lap time we don’t if it’s 6:59 or 6:50. Just like they did with the last GT500 they said 700+hp which then turns out 760hp
@@TheCdM1981 - And where did you see "advertised times."? The car has yet to be built! As a matter of fact, Jim Farley has targeted the Porsche GT3 and the Mercedes Black series with this beast!
I like it a lot but I don't love it. I would buy a more prestigious sports car for $300k. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Some of these prestigious brands with a price tag of $300k may not be as fast but you won't look like a backyard hot fodder. For example, back in the 1990s in Redondo Beach, California a Mustang Saleen was ignored when a Ferrari 308 GTS arrived at the scene. The Mustang Saleen is faster but the Ferrari is no slouch in curves with the blondes. 😂😂😂😂.
@@theemptygarage- Don't be too quick to diss it on a drag strip as it's 345 rear tires, better weight balance and much lighter anticipated weight should be enough to dispatch the Challenger on the strip!
@HarryElliott - You heard wrong me boy! Ford just announced that they will offer a supercharged V8 until at least 2028, and it sure won't be powering any SUVs or Transit Vans!
@ChrisPBacon198 - Coolness doesn't dictate a high price. Being literally hand built at Multimatic and using first class materials like billet aluminum and carbon fiber, along with superb engineering does! Like the 3rd. gen Ford GT, nothing was spared in designing and building this super Mustang!
You really made this statement regarding the rear wing flexing or bending? Obviously you haven't watched world class super cars found in IMSA turning laps at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. (The “swan-neck” rear wing is another distinctive feature-this configuration has been en vogue in GT and sports prototype racing for the past decade). Current GT3 cars uses a similar Swan-Neck wing minus the active part. The GTD uses an active rear wing and suspension that raises and lowers the Mustang's wing and suspension during laps adjusting the aerodynamics. The active wing certainly isn't going to bend. Do some research. By the way. Try to build this car for half the price it's listed using it's special Multimatic active suspension, carbon fiber body panels, 8 speed transverse DCT. A 5.2 supercharged Dry sump performance engine, Titanium exhaust system and it's 20-inch lightweight magnesium wheels, with Michelin R-compound tires measuring 345 in front and 375 in the rear for the stickiest street-legal race-spec tire Ford could get for a road car. When the 2017 Gen 2 Ford GT Supercar was introduced at $500,000. Many people like yourself complained about the price until it started starting bringing 1 million dollars at auctions. Like the Ford GT. I believe the limited production GTD will also become sn investment Super Car.
@jd6356 - Suggest you read up on the virtues of carbon fiber son..... it's far lighter and 10 times stronger than steel. That wing will absolutely not flex under load! F1 cars are made with carbon fiber and titanium for extreme stress absorption under load.
pffft. An American built 5.2 smallblock that blows all you simple minded Europeans off. We own road course racing. Always have, always will. This car will reestablish our dominance.
Yeahhhhh, but what anybody,or anyone fails to realize is that you just can't plain flat out buy one! You gotta go through all kinds of change if you want one, especially for a Black Person, no matter what if it' Male, or Female that's of any Melanin Decent Skin Tone,."WE WON'T BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE! Period,Point, Blank!" Unless you have some DAMN Good Kneepads.
@paxtongay5703 - Don't tell Willy T. Ribbs that! The qualifications for purchasing this car have nothing whatsoever to do with ethnicity! Look them up if you want to know what Ford is looking for in prospective buyers.
@Mcr705 - I must disagree with you, and back the millions of fans who think it is off the wall gorgeous! As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and some people are just not good at beholding!! LOL
