thanks for the video. it's pretty crazy how many issues all the different vans in this class have. Ford seems to be slightly better than the rest.

Thanks for this. Really interesting. I was looking for a possible battery drainage problem. I have a Ford Transit Connect and while I've sorted the issue of the front lights being on all the time while the doors are open, which I think drained the battery, but I'm still trying to find out how to turn off the interior light that stays on while the doors are open.

I'm shopping for a van and am glad to have come across this information about the Ford Transit Connect. This seems like quite a bit of recalls or maybe that's just me. Considering all of these things having gotten repaired would you recommend this van?
@CrunchyTire
@CrunchyTire Год назад
These dont all apply to one model of the van though. Most places selling them used have a VIN visible and you can check open recalls online. So far the 2 connects I looked at have 0 open recalls. That doesn't mean something wasn't already fixed, but who cares by that point lol.
@stevew7964
@stevew7964 Год назад
The Van itself is just "ok". But there are a lot of issues and failures that will cause your maintenance bills over time to be high. I've replaced almost the whole suspension over the last year and a half in my 2016 with 100K miles. I had to perform the shifter cable bushing "recall" myself because my vehicle was literally disabled with this issue and my dealership wouldn't send their tow truck to pick it up and bring it in without charging me like $300. (I live less than 2 miles away). The HVAC system sucks in this vehicle- it does NOT have enough output to adequately cool the vehicle in a reasonable time- that's bad engineering. Overall, there are things to like about the van, but I would not buy another one and I think I'm going to avoid Ford in the future based on the bad ownership and dealer experience with this one.

@@stevew7964 Whoa that is good to know! Unfortunately soon after I posted my previous comment I purchased a 2016 Transit Connect with 112k miles about a month ago. Hopefully it turns out to be an ok purchase decision but I can certainly understand your concerns and unfortunate circumstances with your 2016 TC. Thanks for the heads up. Oh and I thought that its possible that my AC may need more freon or something because I find that I have to nearly keep it on close to max output for decent output of cool air. Interesting... thanks again.
@stevew7964
@stevew7964 Год назад
@Sci-Fi_Fan296 yeah unfortunately not on the AC. It just doesnt have enough air flow output. Huge windows and a lot of cabin airspace
@rocketj7449

@stevew7964 is yours the cargo or passenger? If its cargo, then you would need to add a partition to separate the cab from cargo and cooling would be sufficient

honestly, mine's been good. Its a 2016 with the 2.5L duratec. If you're looking at one of these, those 2.5L engines are pretty bulletproof. If you take care of it, it will go for hundreds of thousands of miles. They were originally used on the Ford Ranger trucks back in 1996ish on until they discontinued making those trucks. The biggest thing is you can't overload them. They aren't forgiving. But the Cargo van is 3/4 ton capacity (1500#). That's what I drive.

hmm🤔I don't think I like the idea of recalls to fix the previously fixed recall, but that's just me. NOT a mechanic. 🤔Wait, how good are the Ford mechanics that fix the previously fixed recall? Too much confusion.

hey sorry super off topic question, i have a 2001 Toyota camry. is there anything i can do like turbo it for a budget of 1000$?
@ditto2265
@ditto2265 Год назад
No, unless you're a great welder and tuner. You probably could for around $2000-$3000. However as someone that turbod my miata, a budget turbo set up can really hamper reliability. I spent about $1500 on my turbo set up and really regret not spending more on quality parts and ESPECIALLY a quality tune afterwards. If you want your car to be faster, best thing you could do is improve your driving skills. With $1000, i would get some really sticky sport/summer tires and a set of lowering springs, and signing up for your local autocross where you can push your car to its limit. If you want a little drama, get a sport muffler welded on at your local exhaust shop or there may be a bolt on catback exhaust for your car. Most important thing at the end of the day is to have fun with your car, and to do what you want with it. If you want to turbo it, do it, just expect a higher cost.
