Here is our ford custom 2019 lwb completed build walk around. with wet room shower and front lounge with side rear Kitchen and full of grid power System. 200wat sola and 300amp power with 1kw pure sine wave Inverter,
Wonderfull, I completely agree that the Ford Customs are extremely good looking, they have such a lovely automotive streamline shape. I was obsessed with the Wellhouse Terrier xl lux high top converstions a few years ago. From memory none of the various configurations had a full bathroom, just a toilet. As an extra you could upgrade to a shower, cold water only, not sure if its still in production. I think your conversation is much more superior. You have really made use of every inch. Congratulations on your masterpiece. I will be rewatching over and over thank you 👍
Absolutely cracking looking van. Totally agree that it's much nicer than the VW. Great craftsmanship on the build, well thought out and brilliantly executed. You have convinced me that the Ford Transit Custom is the vehicle for me. Thanks for the video.
Clever layout, great build...thanks for sharing! I also fitted a transverse bed in our Custom - we took a 10 day trip to Spain last summer and slept absoluely fine. And as for the workmanship - well you can also spend 20k on a "professional" job and have some horrible bodges hidden away! Looks very tidy to me.
We all build them to our own specifications. We had a vw for 11 years and did not want the vw lay out its old hat now. This one works fantastic, you can stay in bed in the morning and still use the toilet shower and make breakfast in bed. Thanks for your lovley comment. Hope you gave us a thumbs up. Stay safe
A genius design. This is perfect for one or two people as you don't need swivel seats and it does away with the normal rear seating taking up all that space at the back. Very practical. I love the shower/wc room, brilliant.
Thanks glad you like it we took a lot of time planning the lay out, people are amazed when they see it and call it the TARDIS lol. Its perfect for two adults. And very warm and cosy when away in him,👍
@@LeeLeesAdventures It was a real pleasure meeting you and your brother today and having an interesting chat. You are the first RU-vidr I've met irl, thanks for doing our little clip. 👍👍
Excellent design well thought out. I have a Ford Transit custom Devon Firefly hightop automatic swb, I got it because I wanted easy access to the loo at night being 2 single beds, , but your bed is so easy to set up in comparison.
I know the van you mean. Yes we did look at that lay out as well plus lots of others and decided to go for this on based on the caravan design, but it still allows access to the bathroom and kitchen when set up. We have been looking about and haven’t seen this lay out being used yet. We love it, thanks for your comment. 👍
Many thanks it was a passion of love build. 5.5 mts I am amazed how much I got in it. but love it to bits it just works well. Thanks fir looking glad you enjoyed the video. Stay safe 👍
Nice conversion. I converted a transit custom myself last year so I appreciate the cost and effort you put into this. I'm not too sure I could sacrifice so much storage though to put all that in there personally, but each to their own I guess. Good job anyway.
Thanks for looking yes we wanted a full off grid camper and it’s ticking all the boxes so far we did have to give up a bit storage but the pros out-way the cons. As it saves a fortune with off grid camping and camp sites. On our S/E coast pool trip total holiday cost was £220 that’s for 10 days away. Stay safe happy travels send us some van pics would love to see what you have done many thanks 👍
James Stringer thanks we are away in it now and it’s just working fantastic. The one thing is to get the van completely level as it makes the bed give a better nights sleep best van I have built so far. Many thanks for your comment. Stay safe
Thanks Greg it was a lot hard work and planning. I have made some changes from the video and we have been out in the van it all works great and the van is so comfy.
*Greetings from a 'Former Colony'* (At least you still have Canada!) *You did a spectacular 'job well done' on your van!* *You can't even buy something like yours anywhere in the U.S. and even $80K models don't offer what your 'Camper' does which is to be 'fully self-contained'* *If this 'Caravan' were mine I'd have a garage built just for the vehicle!* *If you went anywhere in America with this and showed-up at a Campground...people would be throwing money at you to have one just like it!* (seriously, people really would offer you 'cash-on-the-spot' to have a vehicle like yours!) *You have enough 'on-board' power to 'out-last WW-3' and the 'Apocalypse' combined!* *I LIKE IT!* (maybe a 'pop-up' for more headroom, perhaps? Just a thought)
Many thanks Garry glad you like my camper van. We do have lots of RU-vid people we follow in the USA and Canada you might know vanlife what’s up weirdos lol 😂 I am hoping to do a fresh walk through video of the van this weekend look out for it. There has been a lot changes. The van is fully off grid and can boom dock anywhere. Stay safe subscribe and give us a thumbs up for more adventures coming soon 🇬🇧 👍
Great build think this is more practical then the normal side conversion with rock roll bed. I would like to do something similar when funds allow but I am 5ft 10 so would need to have rethink on how to make it fit for me and wife. Could the toilet be made smaller so could get 6 foot by 4 foot bed in length ways. Thanks
Thanks for watching the video and glad you like the build. It was designed with three vans in mind giving the corner kitchen and the shower wet room. Yes you could make the bathroom about 1 foot smaller. At 5.10 you head would brush the roof as I managed the height at 5.9. Hope you can get to build one soon and if so please keep us informed. Stay safe many thanks 👍
I'm curious what's the dimensions for the wet room? I'm thinking about getting a high room custom myself and would love to have a wet room similar to this but maybe only have space for shower/sink and have a portable toilet stored elsewhere.
Nice to see someone else doing a custom done a nice job there can't wait till mines done I tried the link for the front blinds did not work could you please assist You got a lot in there

Thanks jan we are Planning to go to the eu when all this covid goes. and i retire in 2half years we are planning most of the eu in the van, so will pop buy and say hi when we do come your way. Thanks for your lovely comment and stay safe.
Amazing van! Was there any difficulty in fixing the Seitz windows to the slightly curved panels of the van? I’ve got hold of a slightly bigger window and I’m now worried that this curvature might cause problems. Most of the vans I’ve seen these windows on are the larger panel vans and I assume have slightly less curvature. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
These windows where the largest ones to fit the aperture inside as the door would stop you fitting a larger window. The curve on the van is not a problem as when you fasten it up it will pull tight and as you have put mastic it will seal the very slight gap if there is one. Just make sure the van is on flat ground when you measure and cut the hole. The larger glass window is completely different as you cut the complete section out then stick the glass window in. But you then don’t get the insulation blinds and fly screen with a sliding window. Let me know how you get on where are you located in the world 🤔

It works a treat. Hope this helps you
Wish I have seen this layout earlier on in the year!! I've got the same size van. Just bought a Thule 12v step and hope to get it fitted early in the new year. Was it ok to fit on yours?? We've had a look under our van (2015 spec) and can't really see where the fixing mount should go. Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes you bolt it through the sill lip and use ally angle bracket that drops down from the under van floor to support the rack of the step. The cable will then go up into the van behind the passenger seat floor to feed the 12v via a fuze box
I have put up the bed size but from memory it’s 5.8” long and 4.8” wide the van hight inside is 5.9” we are both 5.8” so it’s great for us but any one 6” and large framed it won’t work. Thanks for your comments stay safe

Search for remo blinds ford transit. They did stop doing them but if you get the 2019 model you do have to make a slight modification cutting them at the cup holder on the dash board.
Yes it’s turned out better than we planned and it all works great. I have made some slight changes in the van that makes it even better. Thanks for your lovely comment. Stay safe

Hi Bernard it’s the three mtr and I used the flat brackets and drilled through into the ridges and put plates on bolting it up. A tip is use sticky back insulation to stop the bracket sitting on the van metal. And put sicaflex around the holes b4 placing the bracket. It’s solid a a rock then. Let me know how you get on 👍 thanks for looking glad you like it.
Very nice job sir! Can you help, I have a F45s awning and cant find the correct brackets to fit it to the side of the high roof like you have. Its currently perched at the top corner sticking 4" above the roof - looks terrible! Do you know the correct bracket type. Thanks in advance.
Yes I can help thanks for popping in they are flat so you do need to seal behind them when you bolt them through the van. Don’t worry about the slight curve the awning goes on lovely and remember to run some draft tape behind the awning to help seal it to the body and stop water dripping in. These are the ones i used let me know how you get one good luck stay safe 👍🫶 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372619911491
Hi - great video. I'm buying an L2H2 transit custom for conversion. How did you source and fit the roof headliner? I can't find anyone who sells an L2H2 headliner. Do I have to make one myself? Thanks
Hi Mike thanks for looking yes you make them your self with ply board. Make it out of 4 bits covered in carpet with self drilling metal screws with plastic caps it works great to be able to remove the roof for access. Let me know how you get on if you need any other advice or help. The L2H2 is the best van size being 5.5mts and depending on your lay out you can get lots in it 👍
The bed sleeps two lovely we sleep heads at the sliding door as that section is wider than the seat section as its the full size of the sliding door and a bit. As long as you are not large framed and under 6 ft it works great,
Hey fantastic build! I was wondering what is the standing height. The Ford website shows 1778mm and I'm 172cm so I would have 5 cm to spare. How tall are you and how thick is your floor and roof paneling? Can you comfortably stand upright or is your head touching the ceiling
Bonnie's MoTo-Ranch thanks for your lovely comment we are both 5,8 the hight is 5,9 on the floor I used sticky back sound proof and insulation all in one. Then marine ply on top of that being quarter inch thick. With Vinal floor times on it. The roof is the same insulation and then ply board cut into sections and screwed to the support struts and carpeted. This gives 5,9 in the full length of the van.
@@LeeLeesAdventures thanks mate! I was only looking at renualt traffics because they are about 20cm taller but that should actually do for me too. Definitely gonna take it into consideration for looks and reliability!
Very nice well done. Take a.look at my Ford van I did a video but I paid for me to be done well most of it. Hope to see you on the road. Oh where did you get the pop up front screen and the side blinds
Off the net I have given the info in a previous post have a look it’s some where. Yes would love to see you out some where give us a pip if you see me. Do you have a link to your build video. Stay safe

Alright fella, great build and nice layout. Everything under one roof. I’ve got a short L1 H2 van and want to fit a awning. Struggling to find the correct brackets for the custom as most companies say you can only fit to the roof. I’ve seen a few now with the awnings on the side. Do you have the details for the brackets please. Cheers Lee.
Hi Daz thanks for the lovely comment. I used these brackets i have the fiamma 45s and you bolt them through the high part between the support posts. You have to measure up then drill. I have one bracket above the sliding door section and the other above the rear wheel arch. @@LeeLeesAdventures Hi mate! Absolutely love the van! I came here to ask the very same question. The link you posted on the last comment isn’t working anymore. Cheers! Joe
@@joestringer3811 hi Jo you get the fiamma flat van brackets I have looked and can’t find them now. But I am sure they where for the early transit or I iveco van just search fiamma brackets and get the flat van side ones. @@LeeLeesAdventures Hi mate! Thanks so much for looking. Hi there i got the fiamma iveco flat side kit. The curve on the van is not a problem you mount one bracket above the sliding door Handel and one above the rear tyre. How do you get 6'? On spec there is only 1778mm interior height which is ~5'10 then you would minus floor and ceiling insulation so...? Help me understand what I'm missing?
We are both 5.8 and have at least 2” clearance it depends on what wood you use on floor I used 1/4” Marine board on the roof I used thin ply board. covers in carpet and used 4 sections and used self tapping screws to fasten to the support struts that uses minimal space. the ply sits off the roof about the thickness of a pencil giving more hight. then stuck vinyl tiles on the floor the thickness is as thick as a rubber including the soundproof and insulation. Hope this helps. I have just fitted a sliding door and cut it two 69cm then had to install sliding channels top and bottom so the spec you got must be wrong as I am standing in the van with a tape and it all fits 😁
They dont do them for the 2019 model yet the company supplyes them for the ford custom 2015-2018 and you have to modify them slightley, they stilll look great here is the ebay ref number, take a look 233570956323
Hello Marriott, thinking to buy the same van, how are your impressions after some month? want to ask you wich material is the grey moquette of the wall? it is adesive?? Thankyou
Hi jordi its just the gray stretch carpet on ply board with spray glue. The van is amazing drives like a car, and with it being the LWB is 5,5mts perfect as a camper with just enough room, for my design layout. We have only managed a couple of short trips but it all worked great, even the shower.
Yes if you are careful on the floor and head lining you get 5,9 full length thats what we have even in the bathroom. Thanks for commenting stay safe buddy come say hi if you see us out and about
That wheel arch in the shower will eventually rust when the silicone splits. The whole area with the tiles just ruins it for me. Also the cheap bits of pine in the internal cupboards is a bit shoddy
Frankiez220 thank for your comment. But the wet room has been tanked as you do the one in the home. Ply board with waterproofing then taped edges then waterproofed again, then used bathroom plastic sheets for the walls. The floor has bathroom non slip tiles, as we did not want slippy plastic shower tray. The wood affect in the bathroom is vinyl stick on bathroom tiles. Its all been coated with clear lacker. The wood in the cupboards is ply with bracing struts, then carpet, it was done like that to save weight and space, all in all i works great, thanks for your input stay safe.
Hi Stephen it’s the fiamma 45s 3mts it fits great on the L2H2 I posted a reply to another enquiry with the brackets and listings. look back and find it there is lots of good info. Let me know how you get on and what layout you are having. Thanks for making a comment stay safe 👍

@@LeeLeesAdventures I thought I had checked all the comments before asking but it seems I missed the one about the cost. It was hidden in the replies of an irrelevant comment. However, I couldn't locate the bed dimensions anywhere. I mean neither "The bed sleeps two lovely" nor "As long as you are not large framed and under 6 ft it works great" can count as dimension... But thanks anyway for the reply.
Spiros Zaharakis sorry the actual dimensions are not there only estimated size the actual size is 68’ long and 48’ wide. So you are right you need to under 5.8’ and slim to medium build large frame would not work. Hope this helps 👍
The total build fit out not including the cost of the van would be in the range of 15k depending how lush you want to make it. And that is if you build it yourself. Hope this answered your question. Thanks for posting 🫶

carpenter165 the fit out cost me about £1500 but its fully loaded. If a company did it they wanted about £2700 and 7-8 months to do the work, so save me £1700 But company’s never do the little tings you want doing that make it personal to you, hope this helps
Lol I have an inflatable paddle board but I get what you mean it’s a fine line with camper to van. You could fit a roof top box but you then give up the solar. Hi Simon i used ply board carpet lined it then used self taping screws with plastic black caps to finish the look. Total hight in side is 5,9 we are both 5,8 so it works good. Let me know how you get on, thanks for you lovely comment stay safe
Cut them myself just three oblong cuts measure width including the roof bow and them measure from the front ridge to the door ridge cut it then test fit. Then just repeat. When all done carpet then screw fit

Thanks for sharing the video it is much appreciated as I have a Custom L2 H2 ... but ... I'm sorry as I don't agree with the majority of people here, but to spend that much on the vehicle for such poor quality finishing is a shame. I'm sure it works for you and the wife but I was cringing at the extremely poor quality of the work and finishing. The van deserved much better. I do thank you for sharing though as at least people can see what is possible ... or not.
David Dunlop thanks David out of hundreds comments and people seeing the van in the flesh YOU are the only one saying how poor the finish is. Even the ford garage wanted the van in display and asked if I would take orders for them. I thanked them and said it’s a one off as it’s just for me and the wife. I don’t know where you are pointing at but thanks for your comment we all have our opinions and you are by your self with yours. Stay safe thanks

How much did you spend on the conversion? Thanks
Ok if you’ve got 40k to spend had few campers ok for a few nights but cheap hotels are more cost effective and more comfortable but nice van total waste of space toilet shower ask any traveler no body is gonna shite in such a small space go outside and look at the stars much better good vid though
Thanks john its not build to live in its a holiday van for two, the bathroom is not small and you can poo in it very comfortable, and shower we do go away in the winter so its nice to have all the lush stuff when away, the van is built to be totally self sufficient so you can be parked anywhere, its the 5.5 mts lwb van, same size as the vw T6 as restricted parking at home. and you can go into the towns with no hassle. we are planning to go to Europe after covid goes away for some weeks traveling, we did build it to our spec and requirements, as every one dose, thanks for looking at the video and stay safe. And Thanks
I would say you are generalizing. He built it for what he wants to do. Not what you want to do. There are a lot of people that want to travel and live off road off grid whatever you want to call it like this. If you want stay at a resort then have at it. This is meant for traveling and having a sort of mini home wherever you go. Something that feels sort of like a camp. You can buy a camp but it's always going to be in that one spot. With this you can go almost anywhere you want. And yes RV's and motorhomes are much bigger and more luxurious but they also can be a pain to drive on back roads and in thick traffic.
Ok its not everyone’s design but it works for us it was a choice of three vans. And it all works great for two adults. What is it you think doesn’t work or you don’t like in particular ?
