Ford Transit Headlight Upgrade to LED Bulb 

Thanks. Did you go with the Pro9000 or step up to pro9100 that just came out? Not huge differences but slightly smaller and slightly brighter with new model.

I will look into those. I tried Philips and Sylvania and they gave hyperflash. I also tried the Sylvania Zevo series which were supposed to eliminate hyperflash but they still did. I’m willing to give these a go though if they seem decent. It would help complete the look. Thanks

Lights are still going strong. No error codes. The fog lights are the overall winner between the two as far as brightness goes. The Ultinon Pro 9000 series, which are the headlights, aren’t significantly brighter over stock but are a cleaner light. Since we have reflector style headlights, we have the problem that most of the bright bulbs will just be super bright and scatter light everywhere which is dangerous for other drivers and us in rain or fog conditions. My bulbs do produce a focused hotspot and then the side to side spread has a clear cut off line vertically. No driver has flashed their lights at me indicating that I’m blinding them. Also the really bright LEDS get hot, which is why all have fans or fins in the back to dissipate. Really bright ones will dim the longer you use them to help reduce heat, but the Pro 9000s haven’t dimmed on me yet and I’ve used them up to maybe 4 hours continuous.

@@jtbrv23 thanks for the info. So if I was going to prioritize, you would recommend starting with the fog lights?

@wesrc Yes, biggest bang for buck with fogs. Headlights for me complete the picture and might be best option that stays close to road legal.

I actually don’t run DRL. When I first got the van I didn’t think I had DRL because they didn’t come on with autolamp. I learned after I got LED headlights that there is a setting in the dash menu to enable if equipped. I haven’t verified if I do have it or not. At this point I just leave it alone because I’ve read that the reduced power could damage some LED bulbs.

My DRL will be on only if I shift to D gear when autolamp. You might want to check if that’s the case for you too. Mine is 2022.

@dcflin yeah that’s what I tried at first but nothing came on so I assumed I didn’t have them. There is a driver settings menu from the steering wheel controls that can enable DRL. I haven’t looked to see if I have that option but I imagine I do and it’s just not enabled.

If you are in the US, they will have to be ordered from Europe. Mine came from Austria I think, but I ordered on a eBay store. There is a new company called LEDPerf US that I would have taken a chance with. Looks like shipping is free to US and they have a newer version, the 9100’s.

Yeah, around $200. Looks like the newer version, the 9100 Pro, go for $175 right now.

It does seem high when you go to purchase. If you look at the halogens I put in the high beam spot they are 40-50 dollars. Their lifespan is 150 hours and warranty is 1year. The Philips are 5 year warranty and 5000 hours. So the idea is that as long as you get quality led bulbs they should pay for themselves in longevity.

It’s definitely not. It’s basically no different than standard beam pattern. It’s gives a whiter more “crisp” light. It also has a clear cut off line and is able to aimed. So no,It does not blind other drivers. That’s why I specifically wanted these.
