How do you measure the torque effort when measuring for the 100 ftlb of torque or less measurement?

I used to drive them on the highway when my wrecker broke and man o man everyone was allover the road, scary! Had a E350 van that did the same crap too

is there a replacement gear that works right every time? seems like the reman stuff is hit and miss after not many miles

Can we turn top Allen adjustment on steering box ??

Have the same issue on a 2003 Chevy 2500 HD . Had front end aligned, adjusted steering wheel play nut...no cigar. I’ll check ball joint and steering linkage Torque. Any other suggestions ? Thank you!

I haven't worked on a gear box like that in a long time. Older VW's had similar... is it the balls or the channels that get pitted and jam. Can't believe I've forgotten this... I'm not that old (I think).

Most shops want to set the caster to 3 3.5 degrees ... The truck needs 6 or more degrees .. The caster pulls the wheel to center ...

My 96 explorer had bad memory steer one day and it turned out to be the steering shaft universal. Sprayed a 1/2 a can of fluid film on it and its good for months now. The boot ripped and the joint dried out.

Yep, had to replace my steering gear on my SuperDuty at around 160,000 miles with Cardone unit. But there is still a little bit of wandering and steering wheel has about a 10 degree slop to it. New stabilizer added at same time as steering gear.

I have a 2010 lexus es 350 my steering wheel wont return to center. Recently i got driver side axle replaced and it was broken in half smh. Dealership sold it to me like that found out it wasn't even inspected. They shifted the cross member to fix caster issue machine showed it was in the green . Im having handling issue mostly when turning like trying to park its noticable. What could it be at first I thought it was off tracking

I started to work in a Garage, they have pretty much good business but I never see using Torque Wrench but always they use more long leverage to tighten Nuts & Bolts. It's a bit confusing if proper Torque is very necessary which is, then why they don't have come backs often or Vehicles in the US are pretty System Conscious. I also very often to see that we are bypassing many systems to just keep running a vehicle because Emissions Test not being held here even AC referigent we let go in open Atmosphere.

Redhead makes custom made steering boxes for Fords that eliminate the steering wonder. Steering becomes like being on a rail.

My 2001 f250 has the same issue. Steering knuckles are free, new steering stabilizer and two Napa reman steering boxes. Still no luck. Alignment perfect. Any ideas?

What's it run to get this fixed? Looking to buy a 2002 F250 with um "super steering" basically the steering doesn't come back on its own. REALLY easy to steer left to right and stays on track but once you turn you have to manually turn it back again. Steering gear. Got it. Amongst other things. Grrrr...

My 2014 f250 dose something like this. Only when it’s driven hard or for long distances with lots of turns and bumps. It is not death wobble for a fact. I know that all to well. Trust me nobody will ever have a issue diagnosing death wobble. If you have experienced death wobble you know immediately that is the dreaded death wobble. When this happens I can’t center my steering wheel bc it seems to skip from left to right when I try to correct the steering. It will continue until I slam on the brakes or until going down hill when it makes a strange noise and the steering goes back to a normal feel. The steering gets loose feeling before the issue happens. This truck is used and was used for DOT training of heavy trainer hauling and then as a fleet truck. Any help is much appreciated. I’m so bummed out with my recently purchased 2018 F250 with o my 35k miles. The steering feels so flimsy and I get death wobble. I wish I would have never bought it now.

If your computer is in the can than you can do it while your in the can. Just remember the jobs not done till the paperwork is done. nuff said..

Let me guess, front u joints? Now ill watch and find out... Well , dang. 4wd s ive had to replace u joints on several 99- 05 or so ,doing the same thing. Steering wont go neutral on level ground... Good stuff...

Yup did all that ...tie rod check ...alignment check ..everything after 2 gear boxes im done with these damm fords

LMFAO he's working on 3 Fords...i was at my buddies shop a few months ago. He has 5 lifts in his shop and was working on 5 fords...gtfo Ford damn

Damn. I have a e350 ford econoline van. I changed the gear box. Adjusted the casters and tow. And I'm still having the same problem. Doesn't go back to center and feels a bit rough to turn. Not smooth. But the power steering still works. I don't know what else to do. My van is in great condition, almost new. But boone can figure it out for me.
