A local contractor broke a tractor in half from the lateral forces of a side mounted packer: they had the packer on a swing arm, which could swing to either side, while using a 4f reversible plough at the back. You need a beefy subframe extending from the front 3pt to the rear axle in order to keep a tractor a single piece, just like modern front loaders have.
All this talk about breaking the tractor in half. The purpose of the landside is to take the lateral force so the plow will (or push) straight. Besides, the beam would bend before it hurt the tractor.
