About to do this. Very thorough. I knew you all had to have a video on this and sure enough you did. You all are an awesome resource for these cars and we all appreciate it!
Glad you guys got the camera out for this Danny, I commented on your brothers channel that I hope you guys film the install of the return style fuel system, I want to do the same to my car. 👍
I once again a excellent video! I’ve had that fuel tank out of my car one time to do the PPRV mod and change the gas filter at the same time I need to think about fuel system and larger pumps as well if I decide to go with a larger supercharger thanks again for the video!
I drove all my lines from the front of my car and then mounted them like a pro along my stiffler fit system i machined some really nice billet caps that bolt in and bolt the fuel lines and factory steel lines that are under my car, it’s a nice set up and looks clean and woohooo
Great video! Why is the boost a pump no longer needed? I understood that it was needed unless a return style fuel system alleviates the need for a boost a pump.
Does the fuel get warm with pumps running all the time or did you install a hobbs switch or something? I saw some thing you guys mounted in the trunk. I guess that tells the other pump to come on at boost right?
@@dy-no-mite9365 yes, the fuel will be warmer having traveled to the engine and back. There is a boost line that signals an increase of fuel pressure when it senses boost (which is why you must attach it to a boost vacuum line. Some people put it on a regular vacuum line and ran lean
Always come back to your vids my guy you always have good stuff, do you have a link for this setup? Lethal seems to have many options, im currently running an Eaton but would like to get everything set up for a W 2.9, if you wouldnt mind letting me know which fuel system id need from lethal and injectors to run a 2.9, please and thank you good sir!!
The kind of fuel is the key. E85 needs more fuel flow. In this case we are doing pump gas so we didn’t need much. For 800 hp it is most likely you will need E85. I would go one step bigger on the kit with the feed line (this kit uses the stock feed line and then adds a return line). You’ll also want bigger injectors. A 3rd pump may not be necessary, but I’ve seen people add a 3rd that comes on only when needed
This is a very good video is this the same way is using a non cobra tank? I’m kinda thinking I should just buy a cobra tank and just buy a fore fuel pump and get my own lines and fittings, I am good with lines and fitting AN that is i work for a company that uses them hydro and what not
Would love you know the best way to remove the one pita bolt when dropping the fuel tank on my 04 cobra on the driver side hardly any room for anything to fit on that bolt and to get it out!! Any advice or tricks would be appreciated.
Hey Danny I just had my cobra dyno tuned and found out that one of my pumps is dead. Im going to put this same setup on and was wondering if you uploaded the video after this part. Could you let me know if the rest of the install is self explanatory or if I just need to follow the remaining instructions that would be a big help. THANKS!!!
Danny, who is your distributor/seller for these Fore components? Are you a dealer? The Fore MSRP is pretty pricey for this system. The Fore rep indicated to me that a better price can be found through their dealers, BUT I've not been able to find any dealers. Help.
No, my brother called fore and they put together the kit he would need. They saved him money telling him what he would or would not need for his setup.
For the pump strainers is there a specific way they have to face? I purchased a cobra fuel tank for the baffle system but what is that little tube that makes a square shape?
I got a L2 and it didn't come with the fuel pump controller. My guy didn't order it with the kit...just ordered the pigtails. Have you seen anyone set it up with just the pigtails or should I buy the pump controller?
Did you have any issues with the ecu throwing codes for the fuel pump module? Mine works fine, but I’m getting a check engine light for fuel pump driver module
Danny, when you have this type of return fuel system in your cobra, the fuel pumps will run constantly when you turn the key to run mode(not start). Is this correct? I ask because I am unsure about my newly bought cobra's fuel system, but I do know that when powered up the pumps run uninterrupted. The stock setup puts the pumps into a limp mode after a few seconds in "run" until you actually start the car up. This is why I think my car has an upgraded fuel system.
Yes, precisely. The fuel pump driver module (fpdm you saw removed) typically controls the pumps when you first turn the key. You hear a small prime and that’s all. With the return fuel system it will make the prime sound but not stop since the pumps are flowing from that moment on. Some people keep the fpdm to override that, but it would need to be tuned by someone who knows how to make that all work.
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I also have the same type of fuel regulator setup you showed next to my supercharger above the fuel rail with a pressure gauge on top of it so I suspected there is an upgraded system. Whether it's a return system or not I am unsure. I'll have my mechanic check to be sure. I found out about the pumps when I was running a diablo i3 tuner and when I tried to load an upgrade the tune failed because the constant running pumps had drained all the power from my battery! So now in order to do anything like that again I would need to disconnect #14 fuse(box under the hood) for the pumps so they are off when loading a tune. I am in no rush to mess with the present tune though because the car is running great and it already has all the engine mods I wanted in the car and the tuning was done by a very highly rated group...ProDyno out of South Carolina, so...don't mess with success! lol Great video Danny.
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Follow up...After some closer scrutiny, I've have been able to confirm that my upgraded fuel system is indeed a full return setup. Makes sense since all the required components are there. I just had to confirm the return line which runs off the regulator. Now I understand why my Cobra runs so well! lol Love your videos Danny!
The benefit is more fuel flow with less trouble. By comparison my cobra is at 600rwhp on stock pumps with a boost a pump. It does ok, but it’s not perfect with the pprv valve, and managing the returnless off and on signals. Where the car in the video is 650rwhp with a bigger supercharger and more room to grow, it’s just a better, more simple setup. He also went with 80 pound/hr injectors
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I'm currently sitting stock (power wise) and as such don't face many of the issues you guys who are making more power do. Knowing my obsessiveness with my car once I start adding power I won't stop till it becomes pretty darn unreliable. *crazy smile* I'm currently working on suspension and braking mods before I even get into adding power. Cars gotta be able to handle the power and stop it right....lol. I like to watch you and your brother and couple select other Cobra guys for advice, I trust y'all. I bought it 4 years ago from the original owner with only 6k miles on it. I'm done babying it now so time to have some fun. I'm kinda curious about the boost-a-pumo...useful when stock?
You take off the stock fuel rail pressure sensor and replace it with the new system's fuel pressure regulator. It's also very common to have a fuel pressure gauge installed on the new regulator so that's why you sometimes also see a fuel pressure gauge there.
Yeah, I still need to edit it. It’s pretty simple. Replace the fuel rail pressure sensor with the regulator, make sure the screw in the bottom is in with some pipe sealant and won’t leak, thread the other fittings just like in this video, and usually they have the regulator already set for pressure. You want to make sure the vacuum line goes to a boosted vacuum line so it will have the pumps give more fuel with boost. If not it won’t know enough to increase fuel pressure
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage God i hate the frps. Its the only thing in my cobra I worry about. Blow one every two years or so even with the kennebell disc. Might have to look into this system.
