It's important to remember these guys are a freighter crew. It's not a warship and they aren't explorers (it's not Star Trek). It's just a job you do for the paycheck, which is why people are asking to be paid extra for extra duty doing something weird.
(*sees the thumbnail, gasps*) "They did NOT do that movie!!" I always love hearing Hela's creative guesses as to what's about to happen. It makes me wonder what a movie written by her would be like. If we get spaceships, Chi should be a captain. People who found the eggs would be like, "There's biological alien life down here. ... hello, is anyone there?" as Chi has the ship already half of the way back to Earth. 16:00 to 16:45 - I'm laughing too much, haha. You two are great.
You guys: "I hope there are jump scares. " Us: "Okay, you asked for it!" When the alien burst from Kane's chest, no one told the cast what was going to happen. So their reaction was totally real.
I saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters, and I thought it was going to be a fun, enjoyable, sci-fi film like Star Wars. It didn't take long for me to realize that "Alien" is a sci-if horror movie. I was alone in the dark theater, so it was extra scary. 😨
Yes, it was my first true horror movie, so I was pretty freaked out, especially since you don't actually get a good look at the Alien until the very end. I wasn't checking the empty seats behind me, but for most of the movie, the feelings of horror and dread were constantly trying to overwhelm my sense of reason. And it didn't end when I left the theater. By the time I got to my car, it was late at night and very dark outside. When I got inside the car and started to turn on the ignition, I suddenly had a terrible sensation that something was on my backseat, so I jerked around in terror that I was about to be attacked by something horrible.@@zacharyjoy8724
When I saw the movie at the theater I, and some other people in the audience laughed our asses off when the alien jumped out of the stomach. That was a crazy scene. No, I am not a sicko, but I could not stop laughing for awhile. The look on the crew's faces when the thing ran off the table just prolonged my laughing.
@@Joskemom So, are you aware that Ridley Scott didn’t tell the actors how explosive the “birth” would be, in order to get a better reaction out of them?
I have not enjoyed watching someone react to a movie this much EVER! You 2 young, beautiful, ladies made my day! Love your channel and content! I’m still smiling! Thank you 😊
I simply couldn't stop myself from busting out laughing when the alien breaks out of John Hurt's chest at 16:25, Chi is screaming and Hella yells "Goddamn, you suck!" You ladies really are the best. ❤
"Oh, this is going to be a good one!" was my first thought when I saw the thumbnail, and you two did not disappoint. You're both so adorable with how animated you are usually, but you went above and beyond in this one. This is one of my favourite movies ever, and the icing on the cake is that the sequel, "Aliens", is just as good, but they are very different movies. I hope you two watch that one soon, but please, look for the directors cut! It adds a few scenes and some extra details that really bring something to the experience over the theatrical release.
I was 11 years old when this came out back in '79. It as rated 'R' so my parents took me to see it twice. The advertisement line was 'In space, no one can hear you scream.' It was billed as a horror movie and not 'sci-fi'.
@@jasontodd6779 Yes. I remember it well. My parents took me to quite a few 'R' rated movies. It was rated 'R' for 'restricted' meaning that a parent or guardian was required for admission of individuals under 17 years old.
@@jasontodd6779 I'm sorry but you are wrong. PG is just as it says: Parental guidance is SUGGESTED (not mandatory). 'R' (restricted) means you cannot get into the theater to see the movie if you are under 17 years old without a parent or guardian present. Later, the movie ratings changed to include the age at which you had to have a parent or guardian (PG-13) and even NC-17 which means no children under 17 are admitted; meaning that parents cannot bring a child under 17 to see the movie at all.
@@warriorpitbull1170 I'm not saying that you are wrong. I'm just saying that i alway thought that how R and PG mean. And it is supire to know that i have been wrong for so long. But still, it cool to know something new.
9:29 "If we let it in, the _ship_ could be infected." 🤔 It has occurred to me that maybe the ship should've been designed with _twin_ medical facilities; one you can only access from _inside_ the ship and one can access from _outside._
The sequel, Aliens, is more than worth watching! It’s similar to the Terminator 2 as it’s at least as good as the original. Not as much horror, but more action. Love your reactions. (You two look great in red!)
16:57 "Is that they way of _burying_ people, like that?" If, at some point, humanity successfully becomes interstellar, we will have to see. I can tell you, in the days of wooden sailing ships, the "burial at sea" became a tradition.
Movies like this and Jaws discovered that the monsters were more scary if they are barely seen at all. It's much more terrifying knowing a monster is lurking around unseen than if you saw it clearly entire time
When this movie came out I was 13 our 14. I was walking about town and suddenly there was this movie poster with the egg and the heading said "In space nobody can hear you scream". That stopped me in my tracks, I had never seen such an effective movie poster before. I was both attracted to and scared to death of it.
The count down was for a total of 10 mins before the ship explodes but they had 5 mins to shut it off after 5 mins they would be unable to turn it off. She was trying to shut it off because the alien was blocking her path to the escape shuttle
4:45 What doesn't quite get communicated in the film, but is in the book, is the ground they softly landed on was slightly hollow, and they then fell into a cave in. That's why there was an impact after landing.
The landing leg can be seen to jerk as if something broke under it, then the confusion in the cockpit ( shot-for-shot copied from Kubrick's film 'Dr. Strangelove, by the way ) sort of masks that happening.
The last thing I'm going to do when I have an eight-foot acid-spitting alien after me is go back for the ship's cat...Saying that this is the best Truckers In Space film. This film made Sigourney Weaver a star. For the sequel watch the director's cut as it gives more background details.
Lol even the cast was jump scared! Fun fact the dinner scene the actors were not informed of the chest bursting action! Lol those terrified faces were genuine.
Fun fact: all the actors except for the one that had the chest burster didn't know what was going to happen and that an alien would shoot out the guys chest, so their shock and fear was genuine.
the thing about the chest burster scene (the thing at 16:21) the actor knew they were in a horror movie and the like but they were just told the monster would appear in that scene but not how or why as such most the reactions of fear are genuine
As a boy this film (I saw it at the movies) shocked me to the core. I grew up on films where the captain lead the crew out of situations and this deals with the captain (Tom Skerritt as Dallas) so suddenly.
That was great, you can see why it's my favourite xD Fantastic cinematography, the sound, the alien and set designs. That "white thing" was the alien's 2nd mouth, it has one on it's tongue. The alien, egg and facehugger had a reproductive cycle like that of ants or bees. That's why at the end the alien was "sleeping" having completed it's job in infecting the captain it was now looking for somewhere to die. Probably the best film creature ever created, a lot of thought went into it. So now you'll have to watch Aliens the sequel, it's more of a sci-fi action movie than a horror one but a great movie... just not as good the first, tho many people disagree on that xD
The main ship is a cargo ship. Ash (the robot) overrode Ripley's stopping bringing the alien infected guy on board according to protocol. All of these people died because they didn't follow protocol, because Ash was instructed by Mother to bring back the alien - crew expendable, all other mission objectives rescinded (cancelled). As far as Ash was programmed, all other crew could be dead as long as the alien got back. You definitely need to watch Aliens (the sequel to this) to see the response to all this.
Forgot to mention it before, but when Kane is in the med lab and they are scanning him with the face hugger attached, you can actually see the Alien embryo enter his body on one of the screens. Dallas says something like "we've got to remove it" and Ash says "Just wait a minute..." making sure that the egg is implanted before they try to remove the face hugger ;)
As is the ship's cat. That's a tradition that goes back to the earliest sea faring cultures. There are a lot of interesting references to maritime tradition in this movie, including the officers ranks, Dallas being the Captain.
I subscribed to your channel because you are even better than “reactors” … you are OVER-reactors - and I love it ! Do not wait too long to react to the sequel “Aliens”; you will see that our heroine Ripley’s story is far from over !
Love your reaction to this classic sci fi movie. Glad to see you two liking the story of this movie. Keep watching these good action and sci fi movies! Have a great day, beautiful ladies!! :)
What a great reaction. I see u girls r wearing your red for Lunar New Year. My wife is Malaysian but Chinese. We will be celebrating too. I probably saw this film for the first time at the age of 8? When my parents were watching it. The next film is really good too!
Hella: "Or just put it in a cage and get it back to the Earth and then investigate it?" Weyland-Yutani HR: "Hi Hella. One of our recruiters will be reaching out to you ASAP."
Nice looks like you're watching the extended version, most people don't get to see the fate of Dallas, but this version they show you. Also this movie builds tension like no other, then when things finally go off, they just don't stop.
In the theatrical version, it's assumed that Dallas was simply killed. And that's what I prefer. His fate in this version just seems kind of strange to me. Plus it's not consistent with what happens to the other crew members who are victims. For example, it's clear that Parker and Lambert were killed. It's also not consistent with the fate of the victims in the sequel (not giving away spoilers.)
Alien is such a classic horror movie! Nice reaction! Can't wait for you two to see the sequel. It's not quite as scary as this movie, but it has much more action
Next movie "Aliens" in this series is really good. I saw this movie "Alien" at the weekend it released 1979 at a Drive-In movie. Scared me so bad, I looked under my bed, in my closet and behind everything for weeks. But, me 61 year old, loves watching the whole series of Alien and Predator movies. Funny how things change. I really enjoy watching you girls react to movies I saw in my younger days.
I really enjoyed your reactions and I'm glad you enjoyed it. You took me back to when I first saw Alien with a friend in a theatre in 1979. When we were leaving the theatre we discussed the alien and how we found the mouth with its dual jaws and teeth with all the slimy drool to be quite scary and disgusting. We continued talking when we got into the car and just as we backed out of the parking spot, we both screamed and jumped. It had showered lightly during the movie and we had left the sunroof open so that when we backed out, the water flowed into the cab and onto our shoulders. With alien drool on our minds it was just enough to scare the shit out of us. Of course we laughed at ourselves afterward but it capped our evening of scares perfectly.
I haven’t seen this movie but I had to at least watch the first 2 min to catch Chi and Hella’s preview reactions to what I figure is a SCARY and GROSS film.🤣 I’m surprised that Chi, the queen of jump scares, said she HOPES there are a lot of them!🤯 Don’t get a heart attack and I’ll see you in the sequel!😁
15:45 This scene is lampooned in the end of a movie called _Spaceballs._ By and large, _Spaceballs_ pokes fun at the _Star Wars_ franchise, but they take a shot at _this_ movie toward the very end. Now I note that you have not uploaded a reaction to either _Spaceballs_ or _Star Wars_ on your channel, so consider them both recommended.
This is a classic sci-fi-horror. It's a great one to react to. I like the second movie and I also like the newer movies, Prometheus and Alien Covenant. They are definitely movies that keep you on the edge of your seat.
First rule of space exploration - If you see anything unknown that might be biological, and if you are not trained and equipped to deal with biohazards, turn around and go back the way you came.
