Fun fact: The teacher who told Marty that his band was too loud was actually played by Huey Lewis (the singer of the song "Power of Love" from the movie).
Back to the Future is, in my opinion, the ultimate feel-good movie. There's no way you watch this movie without even a smile. I saw this movie many times but it's always a fun ride to watch it again, always brings some joy to my heart, whatever the mood I'm in, this movie would make me happy.
One of the best trilogies ever made. Lots of Rewatchability, because of small little details that you do not notice the first time seeing it. like the very beginning Doc, has a clock with a man hanging from it. Which is not only a little ode to comedian Harold Lloyd, but ends up, being exactly what Doc does at the end of the movie.
18:28 Tab was a canned drink invented in the 1970s, I think. Pepsi Free was a short-lived version of Diet Pepsi. Marty is obviously not up on what drinks were invented in what year, as in 1955 neither yet existed.
1. Cranky principal Strickland/James Tolkan also played the ship's squadron leader in "Top Gun". 2. The teacher that tells Marty, "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud" is Huey Lewis himself. (Heart of rock and roll) 3. Eric Stoltz was first cast as Marty, but he didn't play well with others and was fired. Some of his long shots are still in the movie. 4. The flammable material set on fire with the model exercise had to have been put there on purpose. 5. It's always fun to see how people react to the Marty and his mom car scene. 🤣 6. George McFly/Crispin Glover didn't like that the story ended with the family being prosperous. 7. Twin Pines Mall becomes Lone Pine Mall when Marty takes one out when he goes back to 1955. 8. IMVHO part II is the best of the trifecta. 9. If you want a first time/share of an OUTSTANDING movie where Christopher Lloyd plays the heavy you must do "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".
(Edit: I see you've been told this a lot. I'll just leave it to help the algorithm) The teacher that told him they were too loud is Huey Lewis. He wrote and performed the song Power of Love specifically for Back to the Future. There were a few other original songs he did for the movie also. His band is Huey Lewis and the News.
The thing I love about the ending of this movie is that no one really loses. Yes, Biff works for George McFly in the new 1985. But it’s all part of a business he owns, Biff’s Auto Detailing. He has a business of his own that seems reasonably successful, and since he’s no longer trying to pass George’s work off as his own he doesn’t have to live with the fear of being found out and fired. Everything all the characters have now, they built on their own merit and achievements. Just something I often think about when I watch this film; just because things have changed doesn’t mean they’ve gotten worse for anyone.
There's also a part 2 and 3 for this movie. This is definitely 1 of the all time great American movie to watch and lots of people love the story for so many years. I hope you guys will be able to watch them.
I love that you both got almost all of the jokes and references in this movie, despite English not being your first language. Your reactions are so genuine and honest. That's why your channel is growing so well. Keep up the great reactions! Say hi to Hella!
An overlooked detail about George. He uses his right hand throughout the original 1985 and 1955 until he punches Biff in the face. There he uses his left hand. In the new 1985, he uses his left hand. In the 1950's left handed people were taught to use their right hand all the time even thought it was weaker.
I have watched this ding-dong movie innumerable times. Easily one of my favorite/sentimental movies. I have never caught this fact... so cool. Thanks for sharing this!
This makes a lot of sense. People who get forced to use the weak hand as main hand develop all sorts of confidence issues. Which apparently happened to George. He only got his confidence back after switching back to left hand.
yep, even the fairly young tyson fury was taught to use his right, it actually helped him with boxing, almost ambidextrous or maybe he actually is, even rafael nadal was taught to use his left, that guy has the best left hand forehand in the game and he's not even a lefty, he can't even write with that hand, it's pretty crazy, mike tyson is a lefty too but fights orthodox and that's why his left hook is so powerful, the japanese teach you write with your right hand as well..as well as many others, some of it has to do with how we write and some to do with superstition I guess
I’m so proud of you girls developing your English this way. I’m a former English teacher for foreign speakers, and I am encouraging you: Good work! I can clearly see progress in your pronunciation and comprehension from your older videos to now.
Michael J. Fox, who played Marty McFly was actually 24 when this movie came out. He is three years younger than Crispin Glover, who played his father, George McFly and a little over a week younger than Lea Thompson, who played his mother, Lorraine McFly. The song Marty' band is playing at the band competition is "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News. The judge who tells them "I'm afraid you're just too darned loud" is none other than Huey Lewis, himself. Thomas F. Wilson, who played the bully, Biff Tannen, is really a nice person in real life, and in fact used his experiences from being bullied himself in High School to help him with his performance in the movie
Hi girls, it's fantastic you've started this brilliant trilogy :) I love the Back To The Future movies :) they're such good fun, please react to parts 2 & 3 as soon as you can :)
@@TampaCEO And surprisingly, he was in marching band too. He did a GREAT comedy routine about it on Johnny Carson here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PR_hh8ong_k.html
Re: 14:14, You're hilarious! 🤣 That was *not* "the police" whom showed up in a Voltswagon Station Wagon with AK-47s! 🤣🤣 They were the Libyan Terrorists which Doc Brown had just explained he had defrauded in order to obtain the plutonium for the Time Machine Delorean😅
Great reaction, as always! I hope you watch the other two films, this really is one of the best movie trilogies of all time. A few fun facts and minor details: Pepsi Free was the first version of Diet Pepsi. "Make like a tree and leave" is a pun, referencing the fact that "leave" sounds like "leaf," however Biff is an idiot, so he always gets the saying wrong. Chuck Berry released Johnny B. Goode in 1958, so the 1955 kids were very receptive to the original sound of it, however when Marty started doing 1980s-style heavy metal soloing on the guitar, they became very confused and stopped dancing. Finally, Mr. Fusion is a reference to Mr. Coffee, a popular brand of coffeemaker in the 1980s.
Make like a tree and leave is not merely sounding like leaf, it is the action of producing a leaf. (3rd definition in my dictionary.) But you're correct about the rest. A lot of the context is lost on younger people. For instance any kid in the 80's would have known that skateboards didn't exist in the 50's, which makes the scene where he creates the skateboard a lot more impactful. I also don't think they really understood the whole Calvin Klein confusion.
Actually various forms of rock & roll were around since the 1940s. Swing, hip hop (the original), blues, and rockabilly were common. Little Richards Tutti Frutti came out in 1955. Hip hop & swing renditions of Rock Around the Clock were also common.
You girls are so amazing! Your reaction are fun and humorous! The 'Back to the Future' series are very well done and very funny! I hope you continue to watch the whole series! Where's Hella? We miss her laughter and contributions to the channel! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing the next movie! Movie Munchies ❤💛
Christopher Lloyd (the actor who played Doc) is still active. In 2021, he appeared in the action movie Nobody, where he got into a shoot-out with Russian gangsters.
The guy who said Marty was "just too darn loud" is actually Huey Lewis, who sang the song "Power of Love" in the opening. Marty has that one line at the very beginning, when he's talking to Strickland "yeah, well history is going to change" which tells you the plot of the whole rest of the movie.
Also, all the guitar playing you see Marty doing is actually him playing. There is a really cool behind the scenes interaction between Huey Lewis and Micheal J Fox.
@@shanester1832 Thing is, it was still a common expression even in the 1980s; at least where I lived. So it was probably thought that most movie-goers uin the 1980s would also be familiar enough with it to get how Biff says it wrong.
I'm so happy you got to see this, number 2 and 3 are as good if not better, you will really enjoy them. I can't wait to see your reactions to those. Anyway, loved the review, love you two, take care and stay safe ❤️ 😊
One thing that you might've missed cause they went over it pretty quickly at the start: the "terrorists" are after Doc because he actually stole the plutonium from them!
Maybe because they were driving a 2-tone , white + *_blue_* van , &/or because they had guns. ( a lot of countries don't allow their subjects to have the freedom of such ownership )
Marty's stage performance at the school dance was a cover of Johnny B. Good by Chuck Berry. The "duck walk" he did across the stage was paying homage to him.
Hi Ladies!😊 The whole Back to the Future trilogy is a great movie experience!!!🏆🏆🏆 The judge that said they were too loud is Huey Lewis who made the music for the film.😉 The three films in the trilogy are best viewed within a sort time of each other, as they are very interconnected. Great reactions to your very first Back to the Future film, Ladies!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
Another interesting thing is at the beginning of the movie, they meet at the twin pines mall. When Marty is leaving after crashing into barn, he hit and knocked down one of the 2 pine trees in the farmers entrance. When Marty arrives back in 1985, the mall is called lone pine mall.
The Back to the Future movies get better each time you watch them. You're going to love Back to the Future 2 and 3, they really did a good job with the continuity and all the little details 😉
This is a really fun franchise for time-travel. A very different style of time-travel movie that you may enjoy reacting to is The Time-Traveler's Wife (2009). I would say it is more in the romantic drama genre than comedy or science fiction.
Huey Lewis was a very popular musician at this time. His song "Power of Love" was a very big hit. He was a very nice person as well, and his amusing cameo appearance here is great. 🤙😎
Hi, when are you going to react to Back to the Future Part 2 & Part 3 ??? It's been over 8 months 😥 please --- You might have to go back in time to remember Part 1
5:15: The guy who said, "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud" is Huey Lewis, the guy who wrote the theme song Marty was playing which was the #1 hit on the day of release in July 1985, as well as "Back In Time" - the other song in the movie. You two are my "density!" :) GREAT REACTION!
There are a bunch of Easter eggs or hidden facts to look for in all 3 movies. There are yt videos about them and the IMDB page lists them in trivia section. For example when trying out for band the guy who says your too loud is the singer of the song he was playing. POWER OF LOVE
If you are interested in time travel movies, I would recommend checking out a great (but lesser remembered) film from the 1980s called “Time Bandits”. The Director of the film was a member of Monty Python and I know you enjoyed watching “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”….. the guys from Monty Python are not in the film, but it has the same kind of sensibility…. The codirector of the Holy Grail was the Director of Time Bandits.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Also, Chuck Berry did the duck walk September 1955 (2 months before he goes back in time) and the song Johnny B Goode was first performed in 1958. The writers put a lot of effort into making the movie including focusing on the details because the kids at the school dance wouldn't know this music but they may have heard from people about Chuck Berry doing the duck walk dance.
This is one of the best comfort movies. There is a lot of small details people don't catch the first time around but more you watch it the more appreciate how much they change the past and future based on how Marty might have affected it. I never get tired of watching Back to the Future.
If you decide to watch the rest of the trilogy of the Back To The Future movies you will enjoy them for sure. Great smiles you two. The world needs that these days.
Back then, when I was a kid, it seemed like such a long time between when this and part 2 came out. Just looking it up, it seems the movies were about 4 years apart (July 3, 1985 to 1989). Two of the toys I had in the 80s seemed to be inspired by this movie. M.A.S.K. Thunderhawk and Raven.
I watched the first movie on home video over and over as a little kid, well before the sequels came out. 4 years isn't long to an adult but if you're going from age 5 to age 9 it's forever!
Thanks for a great reaction, ladies. The other two films are just as good if not better. One thing most people don't realise: George McFly is left-handed, that's the hand he uses to punch Biff. This is important because back then children were forced to write with their right hands, and this could cause a lot of self-esteem issues. So using his left-hand was important.
I love this movie trilogy!! All 3 movies are amazing!! Great reaction and looking forward to you watching the other 2 movies!! Best wishes and much love always!!😍😍❤❤❤
Great Reaction Video as always!!! I love your Videos so much!!!! Please react also to Back to the Future part 2 and 3 They are also fantastic and timeless Movie Classics!!!!
Great video! Cant wait to see you react to Back to the Future 2 & 3!! 😊 Also can't wait til the final Harry Potter Reaction! Keep up the great work 😊👍👍
