In Oz while we have good cyberstalking laws to protect people from O/S cyberstalking, it goes the other way, too. Cyberstalkers based in Oz are also covered by the laws; they can be charged by Australian courts for international cyberstalking.

I was warching a video that exposed a corrupt police department in California and apparently you don't need a reason to get your phone records. The whistleblower was discovered after the reporter used an anonymous source. I'm not sure if it's nationwided but they said it was passed during the pandemic in California at least.
