I used to use only winchester, federal, and CCI. Times are different now, and those brands are almost or over double the cost of foreign primers. I have used a lot of the ginex small rifle primers in 223 without issue. They do seem softer on seating than CCI, but as far as performance - they shoot the same. I also bought some murom small rifle and pistol primers but have yet to load any. Thanks for your time and effort in testing these primers, it's appreciated.
I have used many thousands of the Russian "MUROM" primers, in small pistol, large pistol, small rifle and large rifle. They worked great, but I would note they seemed a little milder than American primers. They were sold up here by an outfit called "Canada Ammo" and were branded "Dominion, and cost $29/1000 back in 2015. I wish I had bought more than I did, Another proven European primer are the Sellier and Beillot brand, an excellent and consistent primer.'
i know youtube has been putting your channel through the ringer and it can be frustrating to justify continuing but i appreciate the consistency / variety of your content. nobody like seeing an upset person but sometimes you just have to be upset but i do enjoy these more matter of fact videos.
Going to watch the other videos. I’m mostly interested in how they seat. I loaded 900 Ginex and about 875 were successfully seated. All 875 fired perfectly. I’m shooting a Beretta PX4 and S&W 642 double action. BTW, a trigger job specifically won’t affect firing pin energy directly. But changing hammer spring will. At least on hammer fired guns.
I'm glad to see your hands aren't as shaky in this video! Are you taking different medication, or are you just feeling better? Feel free to ignore me if that's too personal.
I think it varies. I got my G3C a few weeks ago, had six or seven light strikes early on. BUT...that was from two boxes of Winchester (one box fmj and one box jhp). I believe three of them worked the second time I tried them, but the rest were duds. So I'm hesitant to blame the gun. I've gone through several boxes of various foreign ammo, as well as Federal, Remington, and my reloads with no failures.
Thanks for the review. I'll be interested to see your results. I can get Servicios and ZSR locally for about 70 bucks, but haven't bought any yet. I've had great luck with ZSR 9mm ammo (presumably the same primers?)
7:43 this may be a dumb question, but if you're getting light strikes, could you perhaps "dope" the primer with an additional impact sensitive explosive, or maybe even a catalyst?
In limited circumstances you could. The causes of light strikes are varied and depend on a number of factors. To be honest it would not be worth the effort.
