That yellow thing is not ginger. That's raw turmeric root. It is dried and crushed to make turmeric. The red vegetable is beet root. It is cut and fried like potato.

Like she said cucumber is Southekayi in Kannada. Nothing against Hindi I love Hindi too but your life will be easier if you learn kannada.
