Hey everybody! I made this to help my fellow foreigners out. If you disagree with anything feel free to give your opinion here. I'm just saying how I personally use Hindi. Jai Bhole Ki!
Aur Bhai? I thought I wanted to go and experience India because of Karl. But after watching Bald's videos... I'm more eager to go and try out my new Hindi!!! Dhanyavaad 🙏🏻😊
I fascinated my indian taxi driver recently by saying, "namashkar bhaisaab" as a completely white Canadian 😂 maybe butchered it a little but his reaction was priceless. Edit: he gave me a $3 discount!
Wouldn't $3 be just about the price of a normal taxi ride? Maybe less. I usually see Bald pay like 100 or 200 rupees for a ride, give or take 50. At least for a tuktuk anyways. Maybe real taxis are more.
I went to my gf's house when she was home alone.. suddenly her parents arrived and i said "ye mera pehli baar yaha pe nahi hai".. Now i am updating from hospitals 😓😓😢
His suggestion for Russian is to not worry about grammar. And that the best way to learn it is learn the main words and even if you speak with broken grammar, that you will learn the correct grammar through conversation.
@@acorntree404 means in south india you will feel like you are in another country, In South India Noone know or speak hindi they oftnely speak tamil, telugu etc. But they are well familiar to English so as a foreigner you will not face any problems.. Sorry for my bad English..
The way you're so respectful to all the cultures in India and trying to learn all the major sayings and greetings in the different languages is admirable. I've watched a handful of India series from White tourists in the last year, you are the only one that's brave enough to venture on your own and show us how culturally unique India is. Thank you sir, I salute your hard work and diversity, from a Sikh in USA... Sat Sri akal bhaji.
This has to be the best channel on RU-vid. It's entertaining and packed full of interesting info. This bald guy is a fantastic presenter. You've earned a subscriber
I started watching Mr Bald's channel due to my fascination with Russia and Russian people.. truthfully I was not very interested in learning more about or visiting India.. now after watching many awesome "bald and bankrupt" video's, I am very interested in learning all I can about India! I see a visit in my future. What a great ambassador for human understanding and friendship! Peace!
Speaking of India.Check out Aishwarya Rai ;) She will knock your socks off and youll get even more interested in India ;) India is not only dirty streets and beggars ;)
Finally you chose a profession for which U were born ;a Reporter ,You ve natural flair for ground reporting ..mixing with locals with ur pleasant words !give respect and take back respects
I am really amazed by your skills of handling the touts and all those hassles. Your Hindi, presentation skills, the presence of mind too is exceptional, especially the pronunciation. Please visit other parts of India like Uttarakhand and of course the North-East of India. Wish you all the best.
As an Indian I have to say, this spot on!! Really commendable work . All the people wanting to visit India, follow this guy ! This is as good as it gets.
@@Donglyinvestingtips9113 I. Business person and have several client dont know hindi in south india and some dont even know english, ask me how much problem i face to talk with them at last no deal.
Also check out the vlogs of his friend Harald Baldr. These guys are amazing and much better than Indian Vloggers like Mumibiker Nikhil. MN content is so shit and he is literally dog of shanice
They don't always like that one. I had an Indian lady spitefully respond to namashkar with namashkar, but then scowled at me when I said, jai bhole ki.
@@baldandbankrupt when you speak hindi...it is much more fun to watch & Indians can relate it their daily life, reason why Indians are more in comment box🤣
Ben is tailing off a lot of his greetings with "Sab Theek Hai!" which literally means... "All is well..." All's well..." We're good..." Very good stuff - In my IT division at the University of Victoria, I have 6 Indian colleagues who are astounded by my instantaneous knowledge of Hindi and its usage... I have numerous neighbours who are Indo-Canadian and they are largely refreshed when I address them in their mother tongue. Once again, I owe "Bald" a couple of bucks for the lesson... Sir - you need a Patreon link in. Believe it or not, you are actually helping the people of the Planet understand each other a bit better. Several months ago, it would be incomprehensible to travel to somewhere as "foreign" as India... and it doesn't feel like that at all! Job well done! अच्छा!
I think I have watched this video like 10 times already in preparation of my own travels throughout India! Would absolutely love a part 2! (Preferably with all Hindi phrases texted) Keep up the excellent work. Huge fan, form the land of the Baldr! 🇳🇴
👔👕👖You are not like Google Translator😊 You have proper sense when to use the right word and apply the expression of situation accordingly Great Sir💛 This makes you an Indian like us
Mr. Bald, I discovered your channel about a month ago, and you are the best travel RU-vidr hands down! I watched Anthony Bourdain from the EARLY days of No Reservations, and was devastated when he passed. I never thought anyone would be able to show other cultures in the unique fashion that he did. Well, I was wrong and you have filled the vacuum he left for for people who have a love and fascination for what lies beyond our own borders. I lived in Costa Rica for 2 years, and just like you, I wanted it to be as authentic as possible. I rode the bus to work everyday, ate my lunch at sodas (Costa Rican diners) and rarely spoke English when I left the house. I have to say that I not only love, but also appreciate and respect the content you put out. You serve an important purpose my friend. Jai bhole ki!
Only started watching within the last week but have been binging your videos ever since. You've got a flair that not many travellers have in going into the deep and unknown with confidence. It inspires me to take my love for travel to a knew level. Be kind and respectful and you'll get it back. Keep putting out great content. Jai bhole ki!
I just practiced these phrases with my local shop keeper who is from India and he was very shocked and impressed to hear a white man in a small town speak hindi. Thank you teacher Bald
@@baldandbankrupt No worries. I am basically from Punjab but now live in Aus. I liked u r Turban when u were in Amritsar. You looked smarter than many Sikhs. I am a Sikh. You gonna be a celebrity in India soon, I believe.
Great lesson. When I first got to Japan, many years ago, I learned a lot of phrases - like where is it? How much? etc. Problem then becomes understanding the answer!
That's exactly the problem with just knowing the phrases, especially questions ... if you can't understand the numerous ways people will answer then you're no better off.
wow thank you for sharing, you have no idea how thankful the Indian people to you especailly my Indian buddies here in Artesia California they are the once who alerted me of your youtube channel, you are God send, goodluck and keep the videos coming.
Namashkar BhaiSahab, you will never know how much this video has helped me during my stay in India last month. It made me feel really different from the rest of the tourists people when i spoke in indie. Not many people take care of local idioms and the indians feel so gratefull when you try it. Thanks a lot brother for all you do for travellers. My name is Cesar from Argentina and I still feel as a backpacker even though I'am 58 years old. I do the same of you usually do, never book a room, not many sightseeings but enjoy the local life. Live free, I hope I will meet you in somewhere. Kal Milengue
Why does he says "Mein dekhu? Koi baat nahi" ? "May I look, Never mind"? What is the purpose of someone to say "never mind" right after he asks something? Is there any different meaning of this? Thanks.
@@Lior_Haliva mai dekhu? Koi baat nahi.. Meaning is...can i see? Will you mind? 99percentage of people will say no, please see or nahi..or koi baat nahi dekho.. But if you dont say "koi baat nahi" then some can totally start saying things to you that can be abusive....if you can understand though. Jay boley ki...
Hey Mr Bald. My Hindi is not that good since I’m from the Netherlands. But I can give you two small corrections to clean up the phrases :) It’s not “Are Yaa” but “Are Yaar” Yaar means friend. And it’s like “Oh come on buddy/pal. You can use Yaar also to say that someone is your friend. “Yeh mere yaar hai” You say, Main England se which literally roughly translated to ‘I from England’ try to add “hoon” (pronounce as hoo) afterwards. “Main England se hoon” so it’s I am from England.
@@vats4684 Okay, now I watched almost all of Bald`s vids and I enjoyed most of them. They are more entertaining than Karl Rock`s vids. But I don`t get the beef between them.
Because of you, I have taken to learning Hindi, meeting new people in my area, and making new friends. If you ever want to walk in a neighborhood and hear Swahili, Arabic, Hindu, Punjabi, French, Farsi, and more, you can find all sorts in parts of Canada. I just walked to my corner store to greet the owner in Hindi, bought vegetables from the Arabic store next to it, and used your Sikh greeting to someone outside. It's fantastic! We also have Ukrainian and Russians here. They were so happy to hear me speak to them. Can you do a similar video for Russian?
Hey Just discovered your channel and it's such amazing. I'm from Kolkata (Calcutta) Suburbs. Just wanted to point out, Bhaishab (Shab is a word for respect too, just like JI) A few more things: 1) "Kaisa Chal Raha Hai" or "Kyaa Haal chaal" means "What's up ?" or "How's everything going ?" 2) "Mai Baad me aaunga", means "I will come back later." 3) It's "Arre Yaaar !!", not "Are ya" (Yaar means buddy, so it's like saying Hey Dude, (in a negative sense) you are charging too much !!) 4) "Kitne ka diya ?", means "How much are you selling it for ?" 5) It's "Chaalo", not "Chelo". (Saying stuff just in a different way can mean entirely different things, so watch out) That's it for now. Cheers !!
I am a indian and I know hindi very well... Still I watched this video till end because it's very interesting to watch you teaching hindi. I must say that your hindi speaking skills will impress indians. Great job... Lots of love.
I am Indian and speaking Hindi from childhood. But being really honest, even I improved my Hindi communication skills and mannerisms by watching this video.
Thank you for the language lesson. I hope you do more videos like this. This is not only good for people visiting India, but also those of us foreigners watching your videos. We will be able to follow along with your conversations better. :)
Hindi usage seems quite low, but may grow in future. I think Indian takeaways / restaurants are more likely to use Panjabi,Urdu,Bengali. I suppose it could be useful if Urdu is closest to it with similar or shared words, as with Irish / Gaelic ...edit: Punjabi not Panjabi MC
The difference between Namaskar and Namaste is that Namaste is used when greeting the elders and requesting for their *Ashirwad* , while Namaskar is what you say to wish someone a good day. Theek hai? Samjh aa gaya, bhai?
Me: oh! Came across this wonderful video. Lets Learn some hindi! It might come in handy with my indian friends or if i ever visit India *watches video 10 times slowly repeating everything again and again* *4 hours into the video* Me- Realises i am an indian -_-
@@soundscapeswithswarit Yes he's clearly an asshole!.. But he's been already reported by a few people do to his stupid offensive comments everywhere, including myself, so he won't last long don't worry! ;)
Mr B & B, that was one of the most useful videos I have watched! I'm trying to learn some Hindi for an up and coming trip and have been watching all sorts of tutorials, but it has all been fairly formal language. Getting my notebook out and going to watch the video again! If you get the urge to do some more ....... :-)
This is the best tutorial video to start a conversation in Hindi if you're a tourist. If you're saying it to a person walking by on the street you might not get a response and that's fine because Indians don't usually greet each other on the street unless they know each other but if it's a shop owner or someone hanging around, you'll definitely get a response. Much love and please visit India if you can! ❤
Just wanted to add this comment now before you hit 1 million subs and possibly won’t see this comment 😂 - Your videos are amazing. I’m born In USA but but my parents were born in India. Watching your videos makes me kinda want to visit India haha. But honestly man your a great guy. I love your open minded and positive attitude and how you give India its good sides too in your videos. I wish you all the success. Thanks for making these videos
Rajeevraj1995 pretty good! My city is very diverse so it doesn’t feel like I’m the only desi (there’s tons over here haha). I haven’t asked but I’m guessing my parents would like to visit India to see family!
Ikram, why not? If the lady is old enough to be your mother, why not? I do that most of the times, even in Mumbai, though the word would be in Marathi for Mummy.
"ye mera pehli bar yahan pe nahi hai" ALTERNATE " pehli bar nahi aya hu" means I am not coming for the firsht time. Or " Naya samjha hai kya" do you think I am new
This was great!!! I'm going to try these phrases out on my Indian co-workers. I'm in US in IT, but (tele) meet with people in Pune, Delhi, and Hyderabad on a daily basis. Thank you so much!
Today I was at the casino and I seen a sihk and thought about saying namaska but I still didn't feel comfortable enough yet so I'm here watching the video again. Greetings from California 👋👍💕
May I ask for any of your opinions....how accurate is mr. Bald's information and his accent when speaking hindi? I'd love to hear anything you particularly agreed/disagreed with....I'm not expecting perfection from Mr. Bald, so I do not ask this in a negative way....I am just very interested in hearing different perspectives and how much you dis/agreed with his tips and logic behind them!!!
Easy and simple. I was thinking about useful phrases to know 4 my trip earlier. Awesome to have u post this, wouldn’t wanna get the advice anywhere else
Success... I've used your teachings in my travels as well, and they work like a charm, its more interpersonal communication skills adapted for every location... helps to have conversational skills anywhere you go.... Thank you Bald... You Da Man.....
you know all the trick to not someone to scam you for anything. I can see the difference between kitna rupya and kitna paisa. Gr8 Job well done. You are in the kashi my friend. People go there if they are destine to go there. Very Holy and sacred place. I believe you were Indian in past birth, may be before 1947. you are paying back by being born in England haha😂
just one thing, when a muslim greets you with "as salam aleikum" the correct answer is "ua aleikum salam" do not repeat the same, but turn it around. The literal meaning is "may peace be with you". greetings from Dubai, great video bro.
