Kumusta RU-vid Fam,
Welcome to a new episode here in the Philippines. Ever since we arrived in the Philippines in Novemeber 2022, we have fallen in love with filipino food because of its huge variety of dishes, tastes and affordability.
In this episode, we embarked on a food adventure in the Philippines in a local area that I have never previously explored in the city of Taguig. Prior to coming to Taguig local area, I never realised Taguig is this big and that BGC is only a small part of this city. Upon arriving in the area, I was already shocked by how chaotic the roads were, with jeepneys, and tricycles horning everywhere, but regardless we had 2 missions. The first is to collect an international parcel from America, and the second is to grab a delicious Filipino breakfast in the area. After collecting the parcel and walking around the streets for a while on the hunt for delicious yet safe food options, I finally found a local restaurant on the side of the road that looks seemingly safe. I ended up ordering the sizzling liempo which tasted absolutely amazing.

liempo is pork belly. basically bacon. it's most common cut because it's juicy because of the layered fat and meat. if you like dry meat, you can go with pork chop. other parts of the parts of the pig that's also famous in the Philippines is pata, pork hock. but those are usually cooked as crispy pata. the pata is boiled until the tendons and fats melt, air dried, and then, deep fried.

justin, since you're genuinely curious about the karenderia name, I'll try to explain. the tagalog word is "pakboyz". it's an adopted word from the english word f*ckboys. the russian letters are just stand-ins that looks like the english alphabet. it's a common filipino practice, the use letters from other languages to represent english alphabets. but we don't really use the letters as used in their original language. we just use it to represent the letter in the alphabet that looks like it. if that makes sense. lol

Would love to bump into you guys during your stay 🤣. There are actually some new places here other than having beaches here in Bohol. Thank you, Justin, for supporting a local eatery. I was getting hungry when you added fried garlic and calamansi to your liempo meal. It looks delicious! It looks like the place could use more business. I hope that by featuring Pakboyz, more locals will also patronize it. I noted that the dining area and the kitchen are clean. That's a good sign! And please exercise more patience with our crazy postal system. We are just as frustrated as you are. Enjoy the rest of your stay!

pakboys are players in Filipino slang. We use forks because we usually eat rice and it's easier to scoop rice with a spoon plus many Filipino dishes have broth so we need it to scoop it.

Justine, when you are cutting the liempo with the spoon don't slide the spoon like a knife. Imagine the rocking motion of the foot of a rocking chair. You do that rocking motion with the spoon's round edge while pressing down hard on the meat.😊👍 "Paalam" is the English of "goodbye" "Nice to meet you" in Tagalog it's long "masaya ("po") ako nakilala kita". With the "po" word is a sign of deep respect to the person you just met. Now, the word "opo" can be a replacement for the word for "yes", thats respectful instead of only "oo" which is "yes" in English. We use "opo" to say "yes" to elderly or people in authority. We also combine "yes po" meaning you are affirming or agreeing in a respectful way. Example an elderly or a person in authority asked you "have you claim your package in the post office already?" You can answer: "yes "po" i had it claimed yesterday morning "po". You can add another "po" for another much deeper respect to the person. The word "po" can be used after word like "paalam po". Again a respecfful way of saying "goodbye" "hello po" "Kamusta po" "Saan po" : "Saan" in English is "where"

Hey bro Justin..You really nailed it how the local community live their day to day lives. Pretty simple and people are most of the time happy.. Just be careful in some remote areas it's like anywhere in the world that there always be that small dangerous area of the hood that you can't show luxury things. It happens everywhere and even locals are victims too. But just in case it happens just calm down and don't fight back, these people just want something because they live a hard life. Enjoy strolling those areas and have fun!.

a lot of Filipino phrases combine English and Tagalog words. If the Tagalos phrase is "deep" or "old fashioned" Pinoys switch to English instead. We also have slang phrases to make it easier -- for example when saying goodbye we just say "sige na" (see-geh) or bye or see you.... instead of "paalam" which sounds like you don't plan to return anymore lol. A common respond to a thank you (salamat) is "walang anuman" (nothing to it) or "OK lang, walang anuman"

Watching this vlog. Filipino language has a lot of Spanish words mixed in because of the Spanish colonization for almost 400 years until the Americans came. Like in sinigang using Sibuyas (onion) is actually cebullas in Spanish. The double letter LL is pronounced like letter Y. SILOG is short or slang for SInangag (fried or garlic rice) and itLOG (egg). Just add another meat like TAPA (fried marinated dried beef). Hence, TAP SI LOG / LONGSILOG (longganiza which is of Spanish oriGin or sausage).

When we recite it it’s A BA KA DA E (as in egg) GA HA I (as in India) LA MA NA NG (as in sing - nasal) O (Oscar) PA RA SA TA U (OO) WA YA.

I am born and raised in Philippines but never been to any post office lmao. I'm also shocked that they are still traditional when transacting. I think the reason is because people prefer going to lbc, j&t, and other courier services instead of post office so they don't get enough funds to enhance their facility.

tbt it's usually the sender's fault why their packages get stuck in the office. not everytime, but it's a common mistake that there's something missing or wrong with the address. perhaps the brgy number, missing the actual street name etc. idk what happened why he wasn't contacted, but they usually contact you when that happens. at least in my case, they did.
