Indeed there are many festivals in the Philippines. I just included some of the famous festivals. All Souls Day is not a festival itself..it is more of remembering the soul of our deceased families...Hence, the Philippines has many holidays than other Asian countries...

The first time I’ve watch a Dinagyang Festival was with vlogger Gareth Leonard from his visit to the Philippines last year, now watching this vlogs again makes me want to do my vacation around January so I can take part of the Sinulog and Dinagyang Festival. It was such a great experienced seeing your excitement and enjoying it, it gaves me a strong urge to be part of it too.

Yes, there will always be comparisons from tourists , spectators and observers of these big Island Festivals in the Philippines... and the debate will be never-ending... and, just take things in the spirit of fun!! They are all unique!! BUT... there used to be, or still is (I'm no longer certain) an annual grand Festival Competitions, the ALIWAN, I think it is!! This was the National festivals competitions organized by the NCCA and Cultural Center of the Philippines... That should provide the criteria on which to judge these festivals... and teh Iloilo Dinagyang was the first Grand multiple-year WInner...very consistent, awe-inspiring, spectacular!! The first Hall of Famer of sorts!! So, there...

Loved it so much! But to clarify, the tribe that Nelly's telling "defending tribe" is actually not a competing tribe but just a special tribute for Tribu Bola-Bola who have won 8 times during the 90s and the dancers and drummers were actually their original members who are already in their 30s. 😊 So glad to share that info 😁

The Grandiest festival in the Phils is the ALIWAN FIESTA in Manila, Pasay Cit, this April.. A festival-cum-competition where dancers try to outperform one another in an attempt to claim the crown and the million peso grand prize. There are three categories: Street Dance, Float Parade, and the Reyna ng Aliwan (Queen of Entertainment) beauty pageant. The contestants are from all over the Philippines with each region allowed to put forward two representative teams, as well as one entry for the beauty pageant.

There's many scholarships given by previous alumni to young generations in that school. I still remember that old haunted white building in the middle. It has experience the 3 eras of Philippine History. My dad said many dead Japanese soldiers were placed in that old building in their time 1940's. festivals in the Philippines are year round and happening all over from the biggest towns to the smallest towns. each festival happening at a different time of the year. there are even occasions when festivals are held on the same day in several towns because the towns share the same patron saint. i suggest for tourists visiting the philippines, to research about the town they're going to because there just might be a fiesta there and they can plan and include it in their itinerary. Panagbenga (flower festival) in Baguio is the next big festival happening in February. it is the Filipino version to the Rose Parade in Pasadena California.

It is nice to see that you are experiencing Filipino festovals like Sinulog and now Dinagyang! I hope you guys can see Ati-atihan, Maskara, and Penagbenga festivals...Filipinos are very festive and cheerful people because of these fiestas. We inherit this during the Spanish Era in 1500s. I hope you enjoy and stay more in the Philippines...
