@C R Bueno, en eso tienes razón, quizás su ropa no sea la más común aquí xd Pero por lo demás es un tipo bastante normal, podría ser alguien un poco más alto de lo normal que viene de hacer deporte (por lo de la camiseta). Y a lo mejor recuerdo mal, pero no me pareció que la gente fuese muy diferente en Santiago de Compostela, cuando estuve el año pasado. Me despediría en galego pero no sé :(

Hola Carla. Please do something similar to this again, but also ask them how they learned Spanish as well. Would have been great if you included that somewhere in the questions. It was fascinating seeing persons from different parts of the world speaking so fluently, wow. It would be so informative and a good motivator hearing their learning journey in a summarized form within the other questions. This video was great. 👍🏾

I learnt from Netflix (hearing - understanding) but when I came to Granada... I have noticed the accent is completely different. It was hard in the beginning, but it's possible cause poeple in the South are extremely open and helpful. The funny thing is every city or a village has its own accent so... the best is to learn with people ❤️❤️

As a spaniard, i totally agree XD We're similar. We're not part of that 'imperial" europe. We have our ancestral strong history and culture but we go more by our own with humour and naturality (sorry my english xd) Mediterranean sea gives us some chills, hi five!

El canadiense habla un español prácticamente perfecto, no solo las expresiones y las palabras, sino como articula las frases y las pausas. Ha pillado completamente la sonoridad del español.

Hay muchos latinoamericanos en Canadá.. Soy canadiense también y hay muchos de ellos en cada ciudad aquí.. Por esa razón aprendo español.. El hombre del video es más probablemente un hijo de padres hispanohablantes canadienses.

Me pregunto si tiene pareja de España, Me he dado cuenta de que a las personas que consiguen una pareja extranjera y la conversación constante que implica esto les lleva a un nivel mucho más cerca a una hablante nativo que alguien que trata de mejorar buscando conversaciones casuales en la calle.

@@adios04 My tips are: don't learn isolated words, learn full expressions. Practice reductions (example: 'la salsa argentina' becomes 'lasalsargentina'). Get used to the pronunciation of real T versus flap T.

Minuto 7:18 : Esta muchacha expica que en Ucrania , las mujeres son ( En su mayoría - yo creo - no todas ) muy materialistas y superficiales. Yo soy chileno , y , en mi país , la mujer también lo es , aparte de ser muy interesada y calculadora. Yo creo que , tanto la chilena , la mujer árabe , la china , la india , la mexicana y la ucraniana , son las más materialistas del mundo. En una inmensa mayoría , solo piensan en el dinero y procurarse un tipo que sea un cajero automático con patas , nada más. Solamente éso les importa.

I think you have noticed that when woman is trying to be independent she is told that she has to find a husband that will take care of her. But when is following a traditions and is looking for man that will take of her she is called gold digger, calculative etc.

I'm from Spain myself but I have seen this in most countries. If you, as a foreigner, make an effort to speak the local language, even if at the beginning it's just a "good morning, thanks, good bye", most locals really value this. They see that you are trying. Don't be shy just because your language is not perfect, because most people will not scold you but feel honored that you are trying. Of course there could be some silly people but in my experience it's the exception of the exception.

Estuve viviendo en España desde los 16 años hasta los 27 años. Estoy echando de menos España me encanta la comida, la gente, el pays.... no tengo palabras para decir que maravilloso es todo en España la verdad es solo en España donde me siento en casa, espero poder regresar y volver vivir de nuevo en España posiblemente para el resto de mi vida. What makes me so happy about the people in this video is how they speak with their hands. I do that too, especially when I'm very passionate about a certain topic. But I've been a little self-conscious about it ever since my sibling said it's annoying. So it's comforting to see that other people have a similar way of expressing their thoughts and feelings.

Un pequeño apunte: caluroso es más para cuando el tiempo es de calor, como un verano de altas temperaturas. Cuando la gente te hace sentir querido, te acompaña y te habla con cercanía, más que calorosos son cálidos.

Os tengo que contar mi historia: Los españoles están locos por el aire acondicionado (a veces necesitas un jersey en una aula solo para dentro por ello), pero ahorran en gastos de calefacción. Sin embargo, los alemanes no son mejores. Están locos por las calefacciones (en invierno siempre puesto por todas partes, a veces demasiado, así que mejor tener una camiseta en tu bolsa cuando estás allí). Desgraciadamente, casi nadie tiene aire acondicionado en casa. Esto condujo a la extraña impresión de que el invierno en España es mucho más frío que en Alemania, bueno, al menos por la noche en casa. Por eso tengo una pregunta, ¿qué tal si empezamos un nuevo proyecto de construcción juntos, donde combinamos vuestros estupendos aires acondicionados con nuestras maravillosas radiadores con regulador en cada habitación? P.D. Me encanta la cultura de terrazas, incluso vuestros radiadores para fuera. Aquí solo contamos con mantas.

En el norte de España usamos calefacción y no aire acondicionado, los veranos en la zona noroeste son frescos y los inviernos frios-moderados. En toda la meseta verás inviernos muuuuy frios donde hace falta calefacción y veranos muuuuy calurosos donde necesitas aire acondicionado. Lo que describes parece ser más aplicable al sur de España, donde necesitan aire acondicionado pero no radiadores. Así que tu idea de negocio no triunfaría mucho jajajaja

Harry wanted to meet his Sally. Spain is different in so many ways. The warm nature of Spanish people makes you feel so much closer then your being. If you learn more about the culture Spanish appreciates your efforts. My advice don't get caught in foreign circles for to long explore and communication is crucial don't live in a bubble. I love this country with all its flaws. Viva España.

Spanish can be pretty unfriendly and rude when you come across them in bars, restaurants and attending shops, bit like the French but when you get to know them a bit yes they're generally warm but a lot of the time it's a superficial warmth. Kissing to say hello is not a show of warmth it's a custom and relationship-wise I find British people may take a bit longer to know but have deeper friendships.

@@aldozilli1293 Spain is a social country, people in Spain like to participate and interact in public spaces in their daily routine, much more than most of the countries where people is lacking social skills and emotional intelligence, you can't be liked for everyone and you can not like everyone, that's it, but at least you have education for those you don't like and you greet them. After all you choose for friends the ones you really like. Spanish culture is incomparable with other cultures in terms of human quality, Spain is a positive, supportive and empathetic society, open to the world and devoid of the stupid arrogance you find in other parts of Europe and the world.

Back in late 1980's, It was extremely difficult for a Japanese like me to learn Spanish by myself due to poor educational materials. Thanks to the RU-vid, We can easily get access to the sophisticated materials like this for free!

They actually speak very decent spanish, and what they say is true, spain has flaws and great things like any country, but that charm, happiness, wellcome feelling, tho is similar in other latin american countries, i havent found it in any other country and its what makes me stay in my country instead of living elsewhere even if i could live better economically.

Very true. I live in Finland. People say it's the best place to live on earth. Is it really? People over here are dull, never talk and are always so negative. But hey, you are well of economically... You have a home, car, food, water, free education, free healthcare and your job. You don't need anything else because everything's so fucking expensive except the basic needs and that's what you're limited to for the rest of your life. So welcome to Finland. The paradise on earth... Yeah right..you live here but won't LIVE. And why are Finns always so "happy"? They don't know what it actually means

Hace 20 años, de camino a Londres, hice una visita a mi hermano, en Granada. Me encantó tanto, que decidí quedarme un poco más. Empecé a trabajar, pero siempre decía que dentro de unos meses iría a mi trabajo de Londres. Después de más de un año, mi hermano me dijo: "Para de decir que estás de visita. Ya da vergüenza ajena." Y así... veinte años. Todavía "de visita" en España.

Soy ucraniano y lo que me sorprende mucho en Espana es que en las colas en cajas muchas personas te ofrezcan ir adelante de ellos si tienes pocas compras. De hecho los espnoles son muy carinosos!

Las persianas son el mejor invento del mundo mundial. Una de las cosas a las que más me costó acostumbrarme cuando viví en UK fue la falta de ellas. Protegen del frío y calor, y en verano cuando amanece a las 5 de la mañana (en UK) para mí eran estrictamente necesarias .

Hola : En Chile , por ejemplo , la inmensa mayoría de chicas que han vivido en hogares de acogida o internadas - cuando salen - al cumplir la mayoría de edad , solo buscan a los hombres por su dinero , nada más. Son frías , superficiales , interesadas y materialistas que , cuando ya gozan de buen pasar junto a su marido , miran en menos a medio mundo. I'm from the Philippines. I'm now currently learning Spanish. FYI Philippines was a Spanish colony before. They colonized us for more than 300 years so there are so many influences that they left in our country especially the Catholicism. Also Spanish is a mandatory subject in our country before and it is a official language in our country before along with English and Filpino. But in 1970s, our government removed it in our constitution. Right now, there's about 0.5% part of our population who speak it. Also some words in Spanish is used in our daily conversation.

Gabs it’s not being polite, it’s just true that catalans aren’t so “happy”, effusive or carefree as the andalusian, it happens the same if you compare the south with the north. It doesn’t mean something negative. Catalans are know by their kindness, long-term friendship and reliability.

En líneas generales, todos hablan bien el español, unos mejores que otros. No obstante,el canadiense suena muy nativo- usa muletillas, habla con soltura, se expresa con mucha fluidez. Hace las típicas pausas eh, no sé,es que, como los nativos. Usa un lenguaje más bien coloquial. Cuando un extranjero habla usando un registro formal se nota que ha estudiado mucho el idioma, y se ha relacionado poco con los nativos de la calle que no usan un lenguaje muy sofisticado.

Lo mejor es tener persianas y cortinas a la vez, así que durante el día puedes usar las cortinas y antes de que te vas a dormir puedes enrollar la persiana para que el sol no te despierte. Pero estoy de acuerdo con la chica ucraniana, en los pisos compartidos en Barcelona hay muchas habitaciones que no hay cortinas, hay que instalarlas tu mismo.

Soy español y también odio las persianas, arruina la estética de los edificios y empeora el aislamiento de la vivienda. Para evitar el sol solo es necesario tener una cortina opaca, no hace falta tanta parafernalia que empeora otros aspectos clave de la casa.

@@-jec-6334 Estas equivocado. En paises con mucho sol la persiana hace que el calor desprendido del impacto del sol quede fuera del edificio. Cosa que no hace una cortina opaca. Por eso es utilizada en paises con fuerte radiación solar.

El problema es la falta de aislamiento al haber un mayor contacto térmico con el exterior mediante el cajón y las cavidades del propia persiana, sobretodo el invierno en España en las casas es letal, de pasar mucho frio debido a esa estupidez, cuando en latitudes mas norteñas usan menor calefacción debido a que oh, sorpresa, no utilizan persianas.

@@-jec-6334 El problema de España no es de bajas temperaturas precisamente. La persiana actual está mal implementada por culpa de los arquitectos y fabricantes de ventanas de aluminio. El invento original tiene su origen en Persia, de ahí su nombre. y se fija del marco de la ventana por el exterior. Todavia existen en los edificios antiguos. se enrollan con una cuerda en la parte exterior de la ventana y no afectan a la estanqueidad de la misma.

Indeed I agree. For Latin Americans Spain feels like Germany I heard. Despite the bad burocracy in Spain, wait until you complain too much, in Latin America it is much worse. I heard. Spain burocracy I have experienced. It varies. Everything is highly automated so that is making it bearable but compared to US things take a ridiculously long time. But they do get done. Example: getting a new mobile phone number + phone in the USA takes 20 minutes. In Spain it took 5 weeks.

The best tip I can give you is to listen everytime spanish. That’s how I learned english ( not perfect, not even good, but enough to survive on the internet🤣🤣). Movies, series, tv shows, documentary... your brain and your ears will get used to the phonetics and you will be able to recognize easily that grammar and vocabulary you studied before on the books. Try to listen different accents of spanish and try to tell the difference between them, the bigger is your global vision of the language, the better will be your understanding. Oh! And the most important thing, never give up, you will feel stuck a lot of times, but keep working and eventually you will see the results

as Mentolado says, music is a great entry way. I'd say tv shows too but the quality is very very lacking compared with US or UK shows. But, music, we got that covered. Whatever genre you like you'll find good spanish artists.

haha there are no tips. Well maybe one. When starting, immediately memorize some full sentences and expressions to use in daily life. Then follow any method. Second tip is to focus on the verbs. If you get the verbs right, you are in good shape.

As many have commented it would be interesting, for fellow language learners, to know the speakers journey to fluency. I think Benny Lewis joked that he had hoped on one of his first trips to Spain he would "breathe in the Spanish air, and out would tumble fluent Spanish" (or words to that effect..). But that betrays the truth that there tends to be a lot of work/pain/fun involved to achieve such fluency. Wonder what it was for these excellent speakers!

It is normal and expected in England (in the North anyway) that you pay in turn. It's called getting a round in. Or to be in a round is to be part of a group taking turns to buy everyone a drink at a bar.

In my experience people in Spain are always wanting to pay for just their own stuff. However I hang around with a lot of South Americans in Spain, so maybe it is more of a South American thing! In England we would always just split the bill equally (and leave a tip!). Likewise if we are being served at the bar, as is the norm in the UK, it is customary to take turns buying everyone a drink.

I was laughing when the Ucranian lady said she was used to the "each pays for himself". In Ucraine I have never experienced that. Maybe the younger generation has adopted this. Being a man, I was supposed to pay always and the ladies in the group never paid. In Netherlands, where I am from, it has been 'pay for yourself' for as long as I can remember (which is long, 1970's)

Yo vivo en salamanca hace ocho meses, soy de China. Lo más sorprendido es que la hora de comer, no puedo acostumbrarme hasta ahora, así que sólo como dos veces un día. Una entre las 9-10, y otra entre las 3-5 por la tarde. También hay una cosa que me da cuenta mucho, es que las tiendas no abren los domingos, en China, es imposible.

Por regla general, con sus excepciones, claro esta. hay 5 comidas. Desayuno, primera hora de la mañana. Almuerzo a media mañana. Comida , final de la mañana principio de la tarde. Merienda, por la tarde y cena por la noche

También depende de la zona de España... en Catalunya los horarios son diferentes por ejemplo, nos levantamos temprano, comemos temprano (margen de 13h a 15h como mucho), cenamos (margen 20h a 22h como muy tarde, yo ceno a las 19:30 por ejemplo). Todo depende de tu horario laboral o entorno, pero suele ser así en Cat.

Can´t understand why today many americans and other "white countries", confuse Mexico with Spain, think is the same thing, same people, wich is completely absurd.......I´m from Mexico and remember my first trip to Spain in 1993, it was so amazing, a very different and exciting world for me.....the only similar aspect was the language, what by the way their spanish (castillian) is more pure, different pronunciation and tone.....and regarding the spaniards they all looked completely "white caucasians" for me.

We don't confuse them, but we like to compare them. And of course that's because of the language. That's why we always like to compare the UK with the USA or Australia. But we don't mix up those countries either. Saludos desde el norte "blanco" de Europa.

Qué malinchista hablar del español de España como más puro. Qué es la pureza en un lenguaje policéntrico dónde cada geografía tiene su propia identidad y por ende su propio lenguaje? El español de Guinea Ecuatorial es tan puro como el Español de España.

@@luisfer9361 Cual malinchista?? Es la verdad, el castellano se originó tal cual en la península ibérica, estoy diciendo lo que es...….Como el inglés de Gran Bretaña al llegar a Norteamérica, cambio su modulación y dicción, a como originalmente se comenzó a hablar en su "madre patria".

@@gerardovillalobossosa9366 original no significa puro. El tren se inventó en Reino Unido, sin embargo al día de hoy seguramente es Japón el país que construye los más avanzados. Sin embargo te puedes subir a cualquier tren y te lleva de A a B, no? Un tren en Zimbabwe es más puro que un tren en Polonia? El vino no tiene su origen en España, pero es indudable la calidad, originalidad e identidade de un riojano. Acaso, entonces, el vino de La Rioja es impuro o inferior a un vino francés o italiano? Te das cuenta ya de que eres un malinchista eurocentrico? Tus argumentos son ilógicos

@@gerardovillalobossosa9366 Pero si el idioma siguió cambiando en ambos lugares, ninguno es el "original". Son ambos descendientes de un español antiguo que ahora está semi-muerto. Igual sólo pasaron 200 años, así que exagero.

Love Spanish people, language, culture. Coming from India and lived in north Europe for couple years coming to Barcelona completely changed my mind. People are happy, the city, the whole vibe of Barcelona just wow. I felt like home 🏡 instant connection

Algo que me sorprendió mucho es que el mes de agosto es vacaciones por casi todo el país. Casi todos las tiendas cerca de mi están cerradas durante el agosto, y también solo inmigrantes trabajan en mi oficina durante el mes de agosto. No he visto algo así en los estados unidos.
