Thank the husband for his excellent instincts and quick reaction to call police… Thank the postman for his attention to his surroundings.. Thank the Police for their efforts in gathering much information in a timely fashion… Thank the responsible farmer who tends to his property … Thank the Judge for bringing a final decision to protect society…. Thank Forensic Files for giving viewers the opportunity to see what dangers we need to look out for…👍
There's a lot of whys, Why didn't the mail carrier yelled or squreemd or followed the car?, And Why didn't she raised hell in the supermarket to get a lot of peoples attentions?, In My opinion she would have been saved and the baby, Unbelievable.
@@GamalElbanna-v9y The kidnapper probably told Ginger to not raise any alarms or scream or her son would be harmed. Ginger didn't have any assurances that her son wouldn't have been harmed if she'd raised a ruckus, not to mention the fact that she was separated from him, so the abductor and his accomplices could or would have driven off with Nicholas, leaving his mother at the grocery store alive, and dumped her infant son somewhere & he'd have died. I'm the mother of two grown sons - if I had ever been in that situation, I'd have complied with my abductor in hopes that my son or sons wouldn't be harmed.
I knew Ginger Hayes before she got married. She dated my husband's nephew for a while. She stayed at our apartment for a few night. She was the sweetest, most loyal, loving person I'd ever met. Such a horrible loss. Rest in peace Ginger, Aunt Debbie loved you.❤😢😢🙏
That mail carrier was being cased but fortunately was continually aware of his surroundings. Mom Ginger had tunnel vision probably looking for problems on the baby and got jumped by someone who was a horrible person regardless of his fiending.
This is my hometown. My sister worked at this CVS. My husband was a mail carrier and his coworker is the one who notified Greenville PD. So heartbreaking when she was found deceased and the baby left to die. R.I.P Ginger... you didn't deserve this...
Did your sister work at this store when it was a REVCO (that drugstore chain was later bought by CVS)? Also, is there any reason why this show never specifies that the store was a CVS? I'm amazed they chose to show a store here (actually a DO IT BEST Hardware store) for the reenactment which is NOT a CVS or any other drugstore!
@@trentpettit6336 it was Hollowells before CVS too. Yes. My sister worked there as well. Another interesting part of this tragedy. My husband worked for the US Postal Service . He was to have been on this route that day. Last minute changes so he was not... stay safe everyone 🙏
I'm from Nash County (ugh can't believe I'm admitting that) and live in Watauga. I know exactly where all of this is and was very interested when I saw this took place in Greenville.
We had a guy in Baltimore that had a police report that was 84 feet long including multiple felonies. If police had shot these people nobody would care, instead they shoot 12 year old boys for fun.
My point exactly this could have been prevented if only the previous involved press charges. After each sentence i wish hearing without a chance of parole
What a horrific tragedy and miracle at the same time. He didn’t even say a word to potentially save the baby. This cannot be blamed on drugs - that man is fully guilty.
I'm a paralegal student. I'm also from the area this took place and know some of these criminal attorneys and I have to say I'm not at all surprised they used this defense bc that area has some real "winners". (I no longer reside there.)
Totally agree. I was a heroin cocaine and pain pill addict for a long time and never lost sight of what was right and wrong. I never stole or screw anybody over for a fix. If i didnt have it i just didnt have it. 10 years clean by the way.
@@Deborahtunes That's THEIR problem - not the problem of innocents. And he's going to enjoy those same drugs in prison plus meals, plus exercise, plus TV. He should have been executed 😡 Drugs are your own choice and the addict cannot be treated like a victim because he was drugged. He made CHOICES.
So are Tracie Hawlett and J.B. Beasley, little 12-year-old Dawn Renee Backes, Diane Maxwell, 14-year-old Melissa Bittler on her way to school, Julie Love, and Michelle Ansley. It never ends now.
This hits home for me. My mom is in a hospital in Greenville. I feel so bad for the family of the victim. That baby has to grow up without a mother now.
@@ams554 Haven't you heard?? ONLY single/widow MOTHERS can replace their children's daddy at their whim. If/when fathers try to move on from the death of their spouse and start a new life, then they're EVIL douches whose children should be taken away from and given to a real, "loving family". Oh, and the fathers DEFINITELY had something to do with their children's mother's demise so they deserve to rot in prison too. Some of the things these crazy feminazis come up with are as laughable as they are aggravating!💯💯🙄🤦♀️🤬🤬
I am so glad the baby was okay! I have a two month old son and I lost it when they found the mother and weren’t sure if the baby was alive yet. I’m still crying.
The mailman would be alert for potential mail thieves while on his routes, I am not surprised he took note of a guy acting fishy and following him for more than a block.
Im not victim blaming but if there was any point for the mother to have opened her mouth it should’ve been when she was withdrawing that money. That was the lord themselves giving her a opportunity to save her life. This whole situation is terrible.
I can only imagine the amount of relief that would flood through the body upon realizing that the baby is still alive like seeing a dead baby would just mentally break me.
I've seen so many of these, I don't often get emotional while watching these episodes, but this one got me. Sadness for the victims and much anger toward the awful perpetrator.
Delivering the same route everyday you get to know your customers, you know who walks everyday and you can't help but to pay attention to people & things you've never seen before. We all have stories!!!
Glad the child survived, but an 11 month old cannot remember things at so young an age, so clearly his 'memories' are from his father and family telling him about his ordeal.
Lessons Learned 1) If you see a kidnapping happening dial authorities straight away and let them know 2) You are not safe of kidnapping even if its a public space in broad day light, even if kidnapper saw you had people accompany you 3) Jason Hansen advised "once you get inside a vehicle with a kidnapper your chances of survival are very low" .. so try every attempt to break free.. even at slightest chance.
I just don’t understand why would a lawyer want to represent someone who is so heartless that killed a mother and left the baby to die under the burning sun !! So glad he survived and I hope that killer never finds peace
Easy, they don't get a choice. State appointed attorneys do not have any say in what cases they're given, and also cannot refuse them. They know their clients are probably guilty, their only job is to represent a client to the best of their ability and in accordance with their wishes (including if they wish to plead not guilty).
Far greater punishment to know you will sit behind bars for the rest of your life and never be free again in my opinion. Once death occurs that person is free.
@@hanzkafka5958 because of such an opinion, do u know that most crimes have to be overlooked because of the prisons being overcrowded? They let them off easy because it's overcrowded in there
Hanz Kafka once a persons dies he will stand before God and be judged. That includes you. If you don't know Christ when you die then Hell will be your eternal home.
So we know that an 11 month old child can have trauma memories. How sad that is, but how wonderful he could articulate it later and bring it out into the light. Poor little chap; hope he was able to process with love and help. Good job Greeneville NC investigators.
Drugs destroy any sense of decency in folks, but this guy may have already been a sociopath, to begin with. Mental health care (or lack of it) is the problem as well.
I CAN'T stop crying over this story!!! :-( I can't even IMAGINE what her last thoughts were before she died... PLEADING for her life and for the life of her new son!!! :-( Of course Forensic Files doesn't say it, but I would imagine that her face and shirt was covered in dried tears! That POOR little baby!!! Of course, he's like in his early 20's by now... but that poor baby... witnessing his mommy's murder and then being left to burn to death in the middle of some junk pile!!! He must've screamed his little lungs out and cried until he was too dehydrated and exhausted to keep fighting! I'm SOOOO upset over this case... I don't usually feel this connected to the victims in these videos, but I think it's because I'm a mom, myself! This was SO heartless and vicious!!! What kind of circumstances must've led to creating SUCH a monster in this man!?!?!? :-( ...Thank GOODNESS the other man was out walking with his dog!!! It makes me think it was meant to be, that he should find this child!!!
@@davidb2206 This ISN'T a 'black-white' thing... it's a 'MAN-woman' thing!!! Unfortunately, most of the world is still controlled by men, and most of them don't feel 'legitimized' unless they're inflicting violent and/or demeaning power over women, children, animals and/or the environment! Obviously drugs were a big factor in this case... and it seems like the perp was probably racist against white folks in general... but he's clearly a product of his surroundings! NO ONE is BORN racist! Racism (and the violence that erupts from it) is created through 'hand-me-down' ignorance!!! When both sides start to trust each other more, there WILL be more peace among all of us! ...And when women are FINALLY given an equal say in the way the world is run, there will be FAR LESS suffering on a GLOBAL scale! That all said, this was a horrific story... and I believe that the murdering rapist who destroyed these lives is far beyond intervention! I only hope that his crimes might serve to help prevent others in his community from choosing the same, disturbed path!!! :-/
Just sick sick sick. Ginger died so some drug addict could get money for a fix. Thank God at least Nicholas survived. He would be about 23, going on 24 now. Hope he is doing well now. Must have been awful when he was later told what had happened.
Blaming the drugs is too easy. I am a recovering addict both from crack and opiates. And there isn’t a single time when I would run out that I ever in my wildest dreams would kill someone for more, certainly NEVER do harm to an innocent child. Yes I’ve been desperate. Yes it changes the way you are thinking and behaving. But this was a violent man. The drugs maybe brought out more violence, but it certainly wasn’t the cause because then by that logic, every crack addict would be a murderer and that isn’t so. He could’ve let her go. He could’ve gotten the money and let her go. Because maybe he’d of been caught, but he would’ve done a lot less time in prison. And that defense that he was on drugs and didn’t realize what he was doing? Bullshit. The highest I have ever been in my life, I knew what was going on. I knew right from wrong. In fact, I’m gonna say I knew during those rough times my perception of right and wrong was even stronger cuz I knew what I was doing and how I was living was wrong and not God’s plan for my life. You are depressed and know you’re doing wrong. But you do drugs to rid yourself of that feeling but it keeps repeating in a horrible cycle until you decide to leave it alone. Glad the jury saw through that stupid defense. So happy the baby lived but so sad he lost his mother. What a horrible man he was. He’ll get what’s coming to him.
He was already committing crimes by using illegal drugs. So his attorney thought he should get away with other worse crimes, because of his drug use? What kind of twisted thinking is that? This is one of the very reasons why I am against legalizing any form of recreational drugs. People don't seem to grasp what addicts will do, in order to obtain money for another fix. Not to mention the things they do which turned into crimes...
I have memories of the floors from when I was crawling. My mother was amazed that I told her the cabinets were pink metal (I remember cold also) and the floor was speckled white. Then carpet, tan down stairs to a black and white tile pattern with a red pole, it was shinny. There are no pictures of this. I remember it.we moved from that house when I was 18 months.
Lesson here! Never leave your car running with key in ignition while driver seat is empty unless doors are locked and windows up even if someone is in the car. Im blind and whenever we go to gas stations i either lock all doors and windows up while the kids and i sit in the car, or let the windows down and put the keys in the door pocket. Things can still happen but small steps can make big differences
I always say - for people who commit crimes against innocent kids - they should have different legal procedures and different punishment. They should not keep walking amongst us after they hurt a child.
Very evil. Thanks for the mail man.and thanks for all of you guys. Doin a good job. The forensic work was amazing. Hope we have that all in my country 🙏 🙂
The fact that the car was a rental car , if the police had contacted the rented car agency to track the car , I think that they would've catch up on him quicker. Yet on the other hand the wicked bastard act so quickly, he wasted no time. R.I.P ginger ❤❤ fly high
that's assuming they had tracking in the car... course we'll never know either way. (Given the year, even less likely to have been a widely used feature)
This dude shouldn’t have been free in the first place to even commit this crime. People like him need to just be put down and thrown into a mass grave.
I'm surprised the baby has any memory of what happened and he was only 11 months old. I'm also surprised he could say all that his dad said he did at eleven months old. Poor kid. What a terrible thing to have to endure.
Well I have memory of climbing up 3 flights of apartment stairs when I was 6 months of age. My parents were moving and apparently left me alone, but I had other ideas. My uncle found me or so the story goes. I remember the sensation of crawling. This was in 1969 in Toronto. I also remember my first birthday and my first cake. Happy times!
As others have stated, an 11-month old could not retain memories. Children's memory is typically relegated to short-term until around the end of kindergarten. My degree is in early childhood education (birth-3rd), and I teach kindergarten, so I can state this as a professional. Some say the earliest a child can develop long-term memory is clearly after the age of one, around 17-24 months. Case in point: Have you ever interacted with a talking toddler or young child, told them your name, and in 2-5 minutes, they've already forgotten it? Or perhaps, they couldn't tell you what they had for lunch the day prior, or what they did after waking up? Neuron and synapse development, as well as pruning, is the primary goal of a very young brain, not memory retention.
The kid can't remember anything, he was too young at the time of the terrible event. All these horrors about monsters were told to him by his relatives, and he believed that he saw it himself.
Naw, it's the South. There was no accomplice. They just left that baby in the car and if it wasn't a hot day, nobody said or did a thing about it. In the South, child and animal welfare are not priorities.
i liked the female reporter she is well spoken and pointed on!!!she said there wasnt enough people in the world for it to possibly be another person and his dna ,,,shes right...tests dont lie,,
