Compare 7 different hair samples to the hair found at a scene to determine whose hair was at the scene. I'm using a Ward's kit for this video & it is for my PLTW PBS students for activity 1.1.3.

MY biomedical STEM science teacher gave us this for a forensics unit. It isn't medicine, but I honestly cannot complain. Amazing job making school fun for students.

What were the magnifications for each of the samples?

I discuss it in the video. When I say I'm using the 4x, it's 40 times magnified and when I say I'm using the 10x it's 100 times magnified.

Hello!! How Are you? I think this video is so great! your content in general! So interesting! I wanted to ask if I could use just a little part of this video since I am making an audiovisual project for a course I am taking right now and I decided to talk about a condition I struggle with since I'm 8years old called Trichotillomania, which consist in having an uncontrollable urge to pull your hair out. I want to talk about this condition since I never had the chance to talk about it and now, in my 30s I think is time and I think it could help people like me :) Thanks!

I can't seem to find it on their site. It may have been custom for PLTW Biomed. Maybe you could contact Ward's to ask about it.

Hallo! What is the liquid you placed on each hair sample? Is it just water or something else? Thank you in advance!

These were actually prepared slides, made by the company that I purchased from. But you can make slides of hair using water and a cover slip and it works great and lets you re-use the slide repeatedly. If you want to make it permanent, just add a drop or two of clear nail polish instead of water and press down on the cover slip (if doing that, let dry for a few hours or overnight before viewing).

I'd suggest contacting Ward's Science and asking for their recommendations. They have nice microscopes. Good luck!
