He almost killed her dog, but didn't offer to pay the vet bill. Her money is still locked up in the house he lives in, while he tours with his cover band. Her money is subsidizing his pursuits. His ex-mistress is suing her. Colleagues are trying to force her to have contact with him. What if he'd agreed to sell the house, she had her investment back, he wasn't trying to get her to pay half the S&S loan, he hadn't created a situation that almost killed her dog or just offered to pay the vet bill. His sidekick, Jason, sits on a couch she paid for, in a home she co-owns (but doesn't live in), and criticizes her on her ex's podcast. All that is F'd Up!

Lala is bitter, jealous and unhappy that she did get what Ariana got because I feel she thought she was more important than everyone else. And why is it that Ariana's healing process is on everyone else's timeliness!

Bingo! It also has to do with her ego imo. She’s giving ‘how dare *she* get all these opportunities’. It makes no sense as a viewer. She had no problem capitalizing off of scandoval when she was pretending to be friends with Ariana.

I always felt he was douchy but because Ariana stayed with him, I thought maybe I had him wrong. Ariana was always my favorite. This is what made Scandoval so jarring for me. Her walk off was such a boss move.

I agree that all relationships are a dynamic. However, when someone is abusive to you you did nothing to create that. Bullshit new age garbage!

Both parties pick the abusive relationship and create the shared fantasy together that there ever was a healthy relationship. Watch season 3 Ariana ignored him doing the same thing to her and Kristen and then stayed for 9 years. The only way to heal and not continue to pick unhealthy relationships is to take responsibility for why you picked it originally and then heal the grief and introjects that make you feel unworthy of healthy connection.

By “co-created” I meant that she choose to continue to be in the relationship after seeing many red flags and experiencing forms of abuse because she wanted the relationship to work. She does have a part in it. And now she empowered herself to be in a healthier place.

You can see pretty clearly how transactional Scheana’s sense of friendship is and it’s pretty gross. She just lit up when Sandoval showed her the gold mic and Ariana’s loyalty is meaningless in comparison.

My question for the doctor would be...why was Lala able to extend her new found softness to everyone but Ariana. It seemed like vitriol when it came to that friendship. That is really where Lala lost me...made me feel it was performative. You can give Sandoval grace...but you can't do the same for your "friend."

This is a common dynamic. It seems Lala is less soft with Ariana because Ariana it’s going through the same thing that Lala went through however Lala didn’t have the same amount of support. There wasn’t really a string “team Lala”. Lala was called a homewrecker and she didn’t receive any lucrative deals from her break up. So perhaps Lala feels like she should toughen up because she had to go through more; PLUS she has a child with here ex. Also, Lala doesn’t like being told what to do, so it’s not going to go well when Ariana initially tells everyone that they essentially have to pick a side.

Um… Layla also said the same with Randal and continues to communicate through an app. She set boundaries as you do when you’ve been deeply hurt by someone. She also does not associate with him in the house and is probably not often there, as she has a lot of projects. She was in scenes with him. That is enough.

Just because Tom and Ariana live in the same place, does not mean that they have contact with each other. That point is so hurtful because everybody's trying to make her move out and pay all this money to live somewhere. So those are her only options? and she didn't have the money. Obviously Tom has money to move out, why didn't people put that pressure on him? I would desperately love to know the answer. So Ariana's basically just screwed is what im hearing. Even when she stands her ground she's called a lazy jerk.

I completely agree. It wasn’t long ago that Ariana was in a deep depression and talked about suicidal thoughts and no one rallied around her. But with Tom it’s all the more important. Ariana’s mental issues were weaponised and used against her to defend Tom’s actions, not one person has asked how Ariana is feeling and why she needs to set boundaries. As you say as soon as she does speak up she’s bitter, mean, crazy scorned woman. It’s disgusting. Ariana should walk away because it’ll only put her back to that dark place 😢

THIS They live in a 4500 sft home. That’s big enough for two people to live in and not interact. So many couples break up and still live together. I feel like Ariana focused on doing what’s best for her and that includes her financial stability. Schwartz is complaining about paying 100k in rent the past two years.

Completely agree also! Ariana showed when she was filming with Tom how she just ignores him & how no contact can work when they are around each other. It seemed to me like Ariana had to remind everyone around her about her no contact boundary. She was handling herself just fine sitting on her side of the beach & such - kind of a tangent - totally agree

Fabulous podcast and interview I too was losing my mind with all of this Im also a narcistic abuse survivor so ot kicked mmy shit up big time She's brought me back to a calmer more sensible understandimg of all of their behaviors. Ive been recovered for over 20 years and in a loving safe 22 yr marriage now but I really lost my mind with this season and the finale Going into the reunion enlightened Thanks again Ryan You both made it make sense for me and will be recommending this podcast to all my VPR viewing friends 😊❤

I think that Ariana wanted her friends to be telling Tom anything and with this group they're all talking sh!t about each other! Lala made the same demand when she left Randall that no one hanging out with him is in her world! Lala never had to speak to or see her ex again. They communicate through an app. Like she's really processed anything, I don't think so. She is just avoiding the issues then making comments to Ariana to face her issues with Tom? Come on, you all need more therapy that is not shown on TV ( a good therapist's wouldn't televise a patients therapy session)

Brittany has continuously said that “Jax needs to make her feel sexy”. Just as Dr. Pat Alan and many other relationship experts say, no one can make you feel sexy; AND The feminine energy in a relationship should bring the fun and sensuality in the relationship; or at least do that for the most part. It’s a lot of pressure to put on a man, that is immature like Jax, to suddenly be the main breadwinner and constantly make his wife feel sexy. Also, Brittany talks about how her body has changed as if Jax is supposed to do something about it. I would advise her to be healthy and confident about her body instead of complaining to Jax about it. It’s a relationship killer.

I completely agree. People have to stop signing off on abusive assholes because it cannot exist without a victim usually a wounded codependent person. However, that in no way makes it a two way street. It’s like saying a person asked for it because of the way they were. Do you blame the murder victim because they crossed paths with a serial killer? There are bad people out there and they will hurt you ! And it’s not your damn fault !

It’s not victim-blaming. When we are defenseless children, we are victims. When we don’t heal from that abuse, we find people to repeat those toxic patterns with in our adulthood. The difference is unless we are incapacitated in some way, we do have a choice whether or not we want to stay in abusive relationship. However, unresolved childhood trauma makes us want to stay in abusive relationships, and ignore the red flags, which is an unconscious attempt to fix or heal the past.

Not a fan of this woman’s insinuations that people with BPD are “crazy.” I have a close family member who struggles with BPD, and he is so ashamed of it. It has such a bad stigma already. It is also irresponsible to essentially diagnose Kristen with BPD as well.

I never said problem with BPD (borderline personality disorder) are “crazy”. I only use the word crazy in reference to vernacular that people often use. BDP is a fairly common defense structure that’s very treatable if the client is willing to be treated and have more adaptive social functioning.
