Without regular fires, Oregon's dry, east-side forests have grown much thicker. The unnaturally dense forests that exist today are more susceptible to insect and disease outbreaks and are fueling bigger, more intense wildfires that put nearby communities in danger.
An area of land can only support a certain amount of vegetative growth due to limitations of water and nutrients. Thinning allows the trees that are left behind to grow bigger, healthier and more fire resilient.
Part of a three part series.

I think you might want to try to go to Baker County, there are lots of dead trees, first, do if you can, Anthony Lakes OR. Thanks!

The word "unnatural" is incomplete and a little misleading. An unnatural planting is when non native species are planted or/and when only few to several types of species are planted. What is natural, profitable and sustainable is when plantings are with native and rich biodiverse plantings in USA. Maximum growth occurs and is sustained when a planting is natural which must have native, 'indigenous' species of a huge variety. eg. at least 45 species of native Trees, plants, fungi, and soil microbiome. This native biodiversity will lead to a healthy, fast growing forest that is very low maintenance. Native biodiversity is natural and will help ensure optimum growth (as well as a return of native wildlife. These animals, birds, insects/pollinators help sustain the health of the forest as well) More profit will come.
