If I ever could afford or want a trailer YOUR VIDS WOULD BE THE ONES TO WATCH. APPRECIATE YOUR INSIGHT AND HONESTY. hope your legs getting better. Looking foward to your dyi vids. Hopefully some fishing / boating vids. Thanks for sharing enjoy your guys channel.
You definitely do your homework & like you said built poorly to keep weight down. Floor plan not that bad lack of table relieing on the bar to eat not a great option. All The Best! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
Great walkthrough! Honest insights, not just sugarcoating. 👍 BTW, I seen one YTer that interviewed an RV Inspector (after they bought a new one with several defects). People hire him to inspect new and used RVs.
You could do all kinds of upgrading in there but everything you bring in is gonna add weight. My Rockwood has this same Floor plan but is a lot heavier due to some of the extras
This Week, on the further adventures of Gimpman, and Hotgirl. We find our Dynamic Duo staying in budget, without going too insane! Seriously though you two would make a great inspector #7 at an RV manufacturing shop. Everyone there would hate you, but the RVs would be dope! lol! That bar area is an easy fix. Measure from the chair backs (pushed in), to where you're still comfortable in the work area. Like Angie said a slab of Butcher, and a strong jigsaw, and you've got a one of a kind soft cornered, eat on counter top. Good to see you up, and moving Mike. Always a good day seeing Angie smiling. Now Off to the Gimp Cave!
New 5th wheels, 30-40 ft long, 9000-11,000 lbs, 50-65K. New Ford F-250, 65K. 130K less the trade in on the Dodge, that you’re already not happy with, and you’re looking at around, 115K. If you plan on spending lots of time in it, you’ll be happier. If it’s just for a week, here and there, rent one. $4000 here and there, is better than purchase price, insurance, maintenance, storage, up grades, plus all of the headaches you know will come with it.
We have have a 2021 202RBLE and are about to start are third season with it. Very few issues with it so far(ceiling trim bulging out , and a leak in the sink drain, fixed both myself). We have just under 5000 miles on it, and so far that is all the issues we have had. We use the breakfast bar top all the time, not big enough for food prep, but with care plenty big enough to eat meals on.
Previous TT was a Surveyor and did not have any issues living here in Miami, FL and taking it up to Tennessee & NC…never an issue with the counter top. I own a Grand Design now but has a dated TPO Roof whereas my Surveyor had a PVC roof which was strong and easy to clean. TPO feels like it will rip on you easily. Now why you’re not looking at Airstreams or at least Grand Design, Delta (Alliance) I have followed you when you had the high end Class A … Regardless you’ll notice way better fit & finishes when you do a walk through Grand Design and of course a 70% jump if you get into an Airstream. And yes the WinGuard is bad ass! Oh and the Sport Treks across from where you’re viewing the Surveyor; they’re really nice and fit & finish
Have you considered a Lance travel trailer? We own one and love it. We researched for 2years and I found all the same problems you have mentioned in other trailers. So happy with ours. 2020 1985. Happy hunting for the right one.
The spot on the tongue is for mounting a dog lead to and what I liked on the grand Surveyor frame is that they didn’t notch the frame for the slide like on the cougar you videoed how notched the bottom half of the frame for the slide rails the Grand Surveyor frame I have more confidence in that you wouldn’t be stranded like the cougar
We keep our outdoor fridge running while travelling by plugging it into a small solar generator that always goes with us anyway. We use a Bluetti EB3a and it keeps our fridge running for about 4 hours of travel. Quality and travel trailer really don't go together. Rockwood/Flagstaff seem to be good quality but are heavy and pricey. This floorplan isn't good if you occasionally have guests because of the bathroom situation. Let me know if you find any RV theater seats that don't cut across my calves. I'm only 6'1" and ours are awful. The best quality I've seen is Northwood out of Oregon. High priced and heavy, but their quality is good.
There’s not very many of them out there, but you need to look at the Brinkley travel trailer saw one at the Portland Metro RV show amazing trailer and quality.
We have looked at them and yes, the quality is a little better than most. Problem is that it's way too heavy for our truck to tow. By the time we buy a new 3/4 ton truck we have 175k invested - that is class A and super C territory which allows us to go into many more RV resorts. Problem is, we don't want to spend 200K!
We have have a Forest River ( 44ft fifth wheel). As we all know ALL trailers simply cheap materials and poorly manufactured. As you stated in this review… change out all things you dislike AS SOON as you get home. Then you get to meet a more usable standards that NEVER exist in all trailer manufacturing . A few cheap upgrades and you have got it :) 1- Kitchen counter…. 400$ 2- Overhead lighting exchange 200!$ 3- New mattress 600$ 4- Bathroom exhaust fan 350$ 5- Bathroom faucets (remove the plastic crap) 150$ 6- Remove the outside speakers early, before they damage the wall ! We use the simple bluetooth speakers. Can move them around as needed. With both of your great building skills, you could make this a fun livable space for your event trips.
I love how all these items you hated in other trailers, but in this RV and you can change things out, tear it out, switch it out, etc. Why not spend more money on a better quality trailer….
I owned a Thor class C. Had problems with it from day one. Before every trip, something new would go wrong. Sold it to an Army Chaplain. Within a week, he called and asked if we'd had any problems with the A/C. It broke on him right after the sale!
We have the sound off on this episode. Just looks like a better fit for you guys. We were like..forget ever getting one. But… couple minutes in.. this seems different. All the best to the both of you. Hate the stupid distance with the recliners. Be different it you didn’t like each other.
Stay away from spring suspension. Anything with schwintech. Look for 12 volt fridges. That’s the main things. We had a Surveyor. They dumbed it down. Not made the same. Industry has changed. But just our recommendations. I’m just saying from our experience.
You talked a lot about replacing this, or wallboard for the shower. I doubt you can, because I doubt if the surveyor has enough payload capacity to put higher end finishes in.
I see the plumbing getting ripped off the underneath being that far back, the first time you drag the back end getting gas or something. Shit all over and have to pay for a clean up lol
Noticed that the trailer with the "bar" didn't have any other table for you to sit at to eat or work. So unless you like sitting on a bar stool that blocks the entrance in and out you would need to eat while in the couch or the bed. And as I said, if someone was sitting at that bar, they would be blocking the entrance in and out of the trailer for anyone else. I'm also not a fan of the huge number of stickers the trailer has on it around the outside.
Whatever you get ,before you hand over the money ,get the dealer to go an get it weighed with any options you purchase. Look at independent suspension and better braking . Check the warranty wording for detail ,see where you really stand and who is responsible for warranty repair. Seeing the problems that many are seeing with new RVs ,gett a full check that everything works after a good teat run ,all this just from watching people with all the issues that tou wouldn't think a new eig would have . Ask if the rig ahould be driven off road or gravel roads ,rhe answer may leave you thinking what the !
@@irritatedtraveler7885 no sir I dont at the moment but life is full of opportunities, so I may one day. for the time being I love the videos as my fiancé and I are looking into traveling the US. were currently in Vermont and dont see much light at the end of the tunnel here. I wish you and the wife luck on your search for your dream RV.
You really need to look at Tiny homes .. You would be better off unless it's the room you want .. Slides are great if your in them all the time . I wouldn't be in it all the time so slides aren't necessary.. When you want room to roam you go outside
Connecting the sewer hose really isn't a problem, it's dumping it when the slide is out that's the problem! I suppose you could retract the slide every time you dump the gray tank but that doesn't seem very efficient when staying somewhere for days at a time.
We have 2 hoses. If we are going to be stationary for more than 5 days, we hook up both hoses. For shorter stays we don't worry about the kitchen hose until we are breaking down and the slides are in.
I got a 2024 Jayco Whitehawk 29RL 6 weeks ago. Im happy with it. Roof structure is unmatched Like the triple Theatre, seating 10.7 12v fridge 👍 60btu instant water heater is very nice 15BTU bedroom, AC fan does not cycle, so fan on all night 👎
@@irritatedtraveler7885we heard they’re updating their next models? They’re a quality build, better than most. We currently live most time in a 35ft Alliance Paradigm 310, but also just purchased a Lance 2085. We are excited to be able to take it into more places and they also have a reputation for quality. 🤞🏻 Good luck!
"I've seen how these things are assembled" and you still what one of those? Looks like you are buying a headache. Should make for plenty of fun videos though, that's for sure. Good luck. P.S. Angie's red boots look great!
Went to the Dallas RV show a couple weeks back just browsing and noticed how bad the new RVs are built. And tons of people lining up to buy them. I have a park model at a local lake but bought it used already on the lot and only paid $9500 and feel like I overpaid lol. Can’t believe the prices of new and the shoddy build quality. And I believe it’s time to STOP the MSRP madness of RVs. We all know they discount by 22-33% so dang it just lower the MSRP. It’s madness you are already planning on upgrading a new trailer SMH. Good luck with whatever you get.
Everything you have looked at is a total downgrade and poorer quality than what you had. You two are not TT people based on your overall tastes. Forest River is not one of your better product lines.
Every RV is junk. I have been RVing for over 40 some years and the last RV I purchased was a Sunnybrrook back in 2002 and that was a quality built product built by a family run business. Back then all the manufactures that you are looking at were still building junk with lots of problem. New news is still old news. I would buy a good tent and maybe a Toyota to haul the tent.
It’s really hard to find any that are made very good, you might consider these trailers which are made from a composite plastic not wood so you will never get wood rot. In fact, these trailers are so durable they do not chip, scratch, dent or fade ever. www.youtube.com/@LIVRVlife/featured
