Brush has taken over the farm. I clear land to rebuild the pasture but find a sink hole which sucks the ASV in. This is trouble. The weight of the head keeps pulling the machine in.
The ASV 75 is a beast! I haven't run one with a mulcher head but definitely on my list. How did it do on fuel? If you can get ahold of some knives for that loftness you would be surprised how much faster it will eat material.
You guys have such cool videos! Thanks for the visit. We put on carbide teeth because we are going to be mulching up my cabin, doors, windows, sink and all.
My Grandad was always close to me, we would do literally anything together, from playing chess to landscaping. The past few years have been quite tough, he was diagnosed with dementia. Things are the same anymore, so I come here to watch Stanley, reminds me of the good times I had with my Grandad. Thanks, Mate :)
Man I'm right there with you. my grandparents have been in assisted living and since cov we haven't been able to go see them. I was set to go see my grandmother when her organs started failing almost 3 weeks ago Well hospice gave her cov and they stopped visitors. We buried her yesterday. My grandfather looked like a broken man they were married over 75 years. It pisses me off her last year here I couldn't even spend time with her. I know my grandfather won't be far behind. Cherish your time brother.
He hasn't passed away thankfully, just isn't the "Full Shell" as they would say, makes me cry to see him like this. It was only a few years ago where he would teach me maths, do basically anything with me, wish I had made the most of those times. Sad to see him slowly go like this. This is probably one of the biggest lessons for me that I will ever learn, don't understand why it happened to him out of all people. Love him lots :(
Nice save in the sinkhole, and I totally understand getting carried away when your brush cutting especially when you get a new toy like that thanks for a good show
I run them in my business best thing I ever got. Other than the stump Grindr .they keep coming up with so much useful stuff for us. I run my all year round I used to use a wood chipper did away with that I am interested in the mulcher. Now I get alot more jobs for it.glad to see you enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.god bless
Stanley. Love you show. But I have to tell you I am a GC in three states. My family owns Six Falcon machines. They're owned by my nephews and cousins. I carry all their insurance on my company. They do not cut down any trees over 3 inches with the chipper. They have learned lay them down flat with chainsaws. Then they cut out the stumps, and then grind everything to mulch. They have converted weed wackers with saw blades tooth in the brush out, or take hanging tree limbs out. They have found the same about half of the fuel on a skid steers and by having somebody walking through the brush they have less garbage or cables that ruin the heads. And I do believe you're going to have to go over that again because you're sitting
Agreed 100%. Depending on terrain, (maintenance vs. reclamation,) one good sawhand, with an hour’s headstart, can “Lay Out” in front of a machine, to the point where the machine is just mowing and mulching. These machines can certainly fell trees, but just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Once you’ve paid for a set of bearings, maybe a set of teeth, and a re-balance, you will understand what these machines are meant to do.
@@Dirtmonkey the relationship you have with your employees is one of my favorite things about your channel. It just makes the work you guys do all that much more enjoyable to watch.
Bought a set of ramps today from Top notch Equip got a friend down here in Madison has a freight comp going to bring them back for $100 way cheaper then UPS ground Nate hooked me up you saved me 15% putting them on my Lowboy for side loading and unloading my Bobcat track and wheel loaders thanks Stan !
That's different than most forestry mulchers I've seen, the ones I've seen look like a giant mowing deck with a giant triple ended blade sorta like a fan blade but obviously straight cut like mower blades. Those things legit cut even 3" thick trees down in seconds and work either way you do it like the top and work your way down method like you were doing or the mower like action you were also doing. I've yet to see one of the mulchers like that till now, reminds me of like a wicked intense Harley rake. Awesome video as always Stan.
Great video! Mulching heads definitely take some getting used to. Personally, hawthorn trees tend to plug up my CAT mulcher like what was happening to you guys. Keep up the good work!
Mow it keeping your forestry mulcher head close to the ground is the most efficient & safe. The brush grows back. That is why John of Upstate Brush Control recommends to pull the brush out by the roots first with the excavator. Pile in rows & then forestry mulch the brush. There is still a lot of work to be done to get this back to pasture.
Loved running a forestry head. We had a JD skid steer with a Fecon head, also a beast of a machine was their 290 Fecon. Nice digital display of PSI other gauges and backup camera.
I will say I was a land clearing for a damn and laying in the brush was farmers wire and man let me tell you it’s a fun time getting that out of the head 😂
Hi Stan. i run a Cat 259d3 with a Blue Diamond brush cutter . i have done quite a bit of clearing of the brush in this video. i call it swamp willow here and it doesn't seem to matter what time of year that i mulch it ,it seems to be quite stringy and occasionally wraps up around the disc. persistence seems to prevail with that stuff. great video.
Well all i can say is i looked after a 2012 model pt100g with a fecon mulching head on it for 8yrs & i hated the thing. It was the highest maintenance thing ive ever worked on.
That's the plan! kind of. I am only borrowing it short term but Ive got 3 videos ready to go ending next week at the cabin-doors, windows -even the toilet gets mulched up.
What I learned from other channels: steady wins the race. Let the flail do its work and follow it, instead of smashing it forward at the speed you want to drive. Plus they go back and forth, back and forth and work in straight lines.
I saw this on your instagram. It looked really cool Stan.i enjoy all of our videos. And for diner tonight we had homemade burger, fries and fresh cu strawberry’s. I hope your meal is a good as what i had. Hey Stan. I am hearing all the rumors that Lowe’s is coming out with a new power tool lineup and its called “flex” and it sounds pretty good. It’s supposedly;y gonna be if not better than the kobalt lineup. Bu its gonna be really hard to compare tp the dewalt and Milwaukee and bosh brands. My uncle swears up and down by ryobie. Never understood that man lol. Oh Stan,as it stands, i have 2 A’s and 1 B so i am doing good. Next week is my last week before spring break so it’s gonna be light. I get 12 days off.bu today i got the weed whacker out and the leaf blower, edged the sidewalks, then blew them off. Then i went no blew all the small sticks and acorns off the lawn, don’t want to hurt my mower. Then i came in side doing some research on the Edison lightbulbs that are solar powered for outdoors. They have a 27ft one that lasts all night and is on $40. Not bad. What do you think. Well Stan, you have a great rest of your night and weekend, reeder, don’t sleep on the competition, hey will sneak up out of no where. I had that happen once. But I learned from my intake and now i have picked up 2 customers learning. All while using electric Ego power plus equipment, mower, blower, and wheed whacker. Anyway, you have a goodnight my friend. Warmest regards Alexander costa😉👊🏼🙏🏼
Alexander- can you promise to keep a secret? Their is a new line of tools coming out on April 12th called Flex. Next week I go to Illinios to film 21 different tools in head to head competitons against many of the titans in the industry. it will be interesting to see how they do. I haven't seen them in person but Have heard a lot about them.Keep up the good grades and I bet your parents really appreciate all the work you do around the house. thats really awesome! have a great weekend bud. your friend Stan
Great to hear! Glad these vids have helped you. have you heard my new podcast? Thats where I have more new content that can help a person with their business. Its called landscape disruptors.
Holy cow Stan that is my dream skid steer setup. Once I got into the machine you could get me out of it. I would probably sleep in it lol. Saw you Instagram post about the cat tractor. Those never came with a blade if you didn’t see all the comments about it. Except I have seen one with a forestry cage and straight push blade. Can’t wait till you destroy that cabin. Have a great weekend
Great video as always here in ireland we would have the mulcher on the back of a 200hp tractor we use valtra tractors there swedish but u can get them rear wheel steer for these jobs
you know cleaner it is logger it will last for one you will see problems faster and be fix before other problems become big problems and cost more $$$$$ Thanks for the video that's funny the dog turns around to tell you off an runs off to the dog buddy's that's just so funny lol after you git it all clean up an if you plowed an cultivator then plat grass in at lest some of it the hay an straw the cows will love you .
You are sitting above grade whatever the snowpack is. And you might want to just turn over some of that stuff with a plow because most of that will grow right back within a month. Again great show
You were not afraid of that by any means lol it took me about 3 days of running a forestry mulcher on a kubota svl pushing an FAE mulcher head and it works great for right of way clearing .. I upgraded to a PTO tractor 3 point with 240 horse on it i can take down anything in my path lol i have taken down buildings with the tractor driven and it takes some major power .. ASV i think is the only Skid Steer that offers a forestry special option for that application
That attachment works awesome on the small stuff, could be a bit heavy for the loader, especially since ASV deleted the counter weights, put it on a RT120 and it would shine. But very informative show thanks.
With willows you have to take your time and let them feed in more slowly and make sure they clear the head before taking another bite. They break up much nicer when its cold out around -20 degrees celsius, then they really crackle. I frequently run a Promac disc mulcher on a Hitachi ZX160LC excavator and one of my least favorite things to mulch up is green stringy willows.
The part where you about buried it, I've got about 20 acres of land like that full of the same type brush. I had my T190 wide track with a heavy brush deck in it and almost had it stuck a few times. Finally gave up before I would have ended up with a heafty recovery bill to get it out! For that area I'm probably stuck with a chainsaw and a chipper. Still would like to try a mulcher head through it though! Lol
👍👍 Yes it did hit 80° 3/26/20 so I used the a/c for the first time this year. Left it in cool mode, fell asleep, woke up at 5am it was 62° and I'm in shorts. Now you have to work the soil or it all grows back.
It wraps up next Friday with the cabin with one break inbetween on Wednesday when we launch a Massive giveaway with Ballard inc. hes giving away a $19,000 plug and play lawn care setup.
@@Dirtmonkey WOW. That’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to start a lawn care business. Idk if the equipment he’s giving away would be THAT type of equipment... but that’s what I would use it for. I’m so tired of being stuck working at the same factory. I wish I could start my own business and escape this life. Maybe some day. Thanks for all you do bud. 🙏
Thanks Larry. On a different note I found out that Cotton wood is in the aspen family. I think you said those big logs we were splitting were Aspen- you were right. 👊
That's what we call Dirt Monkey action Thanks ta for putting together this video. From Maryam and SAQIB From SILVER ROSS GROUP INC the LANDSCAPING and construction experts Waiting for an SHOUT out from Stan We support you from TORONTO Canada
@@Dirtmonkey about a week probably, with a 870 or 299 or 120. Check out Cimaf with teeth, that's the real deal, especially if they're no rocks. High, high maintenance costs.. very high.
Might want to borrow that mulcher again after the snow melts to get rid of the little stumps left because of the snow. Plus if you do get stuck you can then get a machine down there to help winch you out.
Interested in our thoughts on that ASV with that large of an attachment. I have not operated one, have you put the mulcher on anything else to compare it to? Would be interested in your opinion.
If you like this stuff and think you want to give it a go, search for Cat 299 burning .. there should be a few mulchers in flames out there somewhere. Carry a few fire extinguishers (Halon) and keep her cleaned and blown out and pray for no hydro leaks and that you can lower the mulcher and escape when the time comes. Counterweights on this machine to keep the nose down and help it not get stuck so easily and to lessen wear on the undercarriage components. And teeth not carbides on a mulcher are the trick to getting a lot more work done, and a lot cleaner finish.
Hey in the middle of watching your video you should check out Upstate brush control and the belt and son they do forestry mulching you might get some pointers they're watching their videos I've run front end loaders backhoes products like your ASV but nothing with the forestry mulching head on it yet like to give it a try one day great job good videos
Man, all I can think is that it would be cool to have one of those. There are millions upon millions of acres of the west that need treatment like this, so as to reduce fire risk. I'd personally like to see, as a start, every forest road have something like this done for 50' on either side - that way every road is a decent fire break, hopefully slowing and / or limiting the spread of wild fire until such time as the rest of the forest can get treated. Question for ya: So, now that you ground it all down, would you burn off those areas as well, at least once its safe and able to do so, then re-seed? Or will the pasture come back of it's own? "How Farms Work" has a vid every year it seems where they're knocking back the brush on the edges of their pastures to either keep it in check, or reclaim additional area for forage for their cattle.
Being able to watch this in 4k is so much different than staring at your cell phone. Wow ! huge difference Where can I send a bottle of that whip for the battery terminals?
I have found that it works best when things are well frozen. At least with using my Stihl FS saw with a saw blade. Black Berry at colder than 20 degrees is easily cut with polyline.
I run a fecon on a older T-320 bobcat, I find it faster to eat into the trees, drop them forward, drop the head down and eat forward and then tip it down and pull backwards.
