It's nearly been an entire year since the last update I've done for Forever. The project has still been firm in the works and this video previews some of its newest additions and changes up to now.
Past the new option that allows the player to skip cutscenes, the new Solar system was introduced, in which the player can collect mysterious particles scattered around the stages to gain extremely useful abilities once you've gathered a fair number of them. Essentially, the more Solar you grab, the more Panels/passives and related bonuses you'll unlock for your characters to utilize.
The second biggest change now makes it possible to cancel a Dash with a Normal attack. Alone, it might sound a bit underwhelming of a change, but it can significantly improve combo potential and defensive dashing. Most of the battle segments shown in this video demonstrates just how invaluable of a tool it can be.
A new character, Pow, has also been introduced as a playable fighter. With his trusty gun and a seemingly infinite supply of explosives, this hatted sharpshooter is heavily based on ranged combat and aims to overpower his foes at a safe distance.
As seen in several of the combos, it is now additionally possible to play solo, using only your main character for battles. You can toggle this feature on and off through the in-game menu.
Should developments continue to progress as smoothly as they are at this time, I should have a few more surprises to present as the year goes by. Even now, I'm still feeling rather determined to get this project completed.
