that final line in the trailer, “there are no hero’s here. just a few men and women running around in the dark… with half empty magazines” that goes hard.
@@cloudcity4194 i mean people have played Beta truthfully its good but does have few issues been told it does need optimization yes, it is rough around the edges with some bugs (flying tanks and shit) but it is early access and its a TRUE EA its not a hey its a finished EA just to promote the game, the devs looking for people to find bugs and help them fix their product. Also this studio is a collab of veterans who worked on the some of the biggest games (Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3, Killzone, Doom and others). Now can the game fail...course, any game can flop but this isn't "The Day Before", "Concord", and Dustborn. For 27$ tho...fuck that's going out for fast food nowadays for a family, i'll try it out for that cheap.
@@cloudcity4194for 27 bucks. Naw. These are the people who are on the side of gamers that need gamers support. Not some Star Wars Outlaw BS Edit: Outlaws is a scam
"That Nickel and Dime **** is for the birds" Pete Parsons: "And I took that personally...." I respect this guy's approach, this is a hell of a marketing pitch and I hope these big name guys take some notes. More than anything though I really hope these guys find HUGE success, this could literally create as much chaos and panic in the industry as BG3 did. Hope to see you out there folks!
It won't come anywhere close to matching BG3, the actual gameplay looks janky and setting isn't something that attracts huge amount of people. I'll be playing this when EA launches, but I'm keeping my expectations realistic based on what I've seen so far. Hope the dev team can positively surprise me.
@@brooksmanis7782 Yeah but this game heavily relies on immersion and the jank present takes away from it. I have no doubts they'll patch it out eventually but for the time being, character sliding around and gunplay looking off at least slightly takes away from it. Especially since it's shown in the trailer for the game. It's going to be cherry picked gameplay.
@@Krymms that is most daft statement ever, you do know that outside of BG3, the DnD wasnt as high of a up take to the mainstrain UNTIL BG3 came out. Also don't fucking say that people don't like grim dark, like uhh Space Marine 1/2, Vermintide 1/2 -- Dawn of War, GTFO... I beg your pardon? No people like that stuff, not everything needs to be cringe, OverWatch, copy/paste -- it's actually nice that we can somehow get a breath of fresh air and not the garbage live services that ironically die in 6 months to a year. For fuck sake at this point, I praice anyone that isn't bullshitting us with AAA garbage.
@@FriezaReturns00001 1) If you start your comment hurling insults maybe try calming down first 2) DnD is quite literally a generic fantasy setting 3) I said that the setting isn't hugely popular, not that no one likes it, learn to read 4) There's a reason why "cringe" like Overwatch was popular I want to see this game succeed as much as the next person, but let's be realistic, it is a niche game not aimed toward a huge audience so it'll have trouble reaching that. That doesn't mean it'll fail or be a bad game. It just won't be mainstream.
There's a smaller content creator who's been given inside access and covering this in depth. It looks wild as a concept. "Oh hey it's like an extraction shooter but everything in the game can and will shit on you if you don't approach this with care and thought." Edit: RU-vidr is Riloe.
Riloe isn't that small of a creator he's been doing RU-vid content for some bit but yeah this insider access and video he released gave him some uprising
You can bait the AI's into fighting each other and hide until they are done so you can scavenge the dead, The enemies don't see you as a threat unless you open fire to them because the other faction have huge mechs and tanks. There is weight class to any character in the scene (players or AI's) so if there is something more dangerous than you, they will attack them and leave you alone. Also the AI in the game doesn't see you as a special character, You are like any other AI in the scene so the war is not about you it's about them. "You are not this guy"
Started watching Riloe recently his production value is incredible imo He also covered Beautiful light... another game i think we should keep our eyes on!
Zdzisław Beksiński is one of my favourite artists and is a really clear inspiration for this games art style so that's a huge plus for me. I recommend checking it out it sounds really unique the whole idea is you aren't the main character, you're a scav trying to survive in the middle of a warzone by whatever means necessary.
It's only refreshing if it's not just empty promises lol. Like sure I want to believe that they're going to do all this awesome stuff they promised, but actually pulling through with that promise is not just a matter of willpower.
@@frankylampard3931 Baldur's Gate 3 sometime was borderline unplayable in Early Access, that's the perks with playing basically somewhat stable dev builds
"The year is 20XX." is the most nostalgic Megaman shit I've ever heard and I love it. If I had a PC good enough to play on I'd definitely be supporting this game and at least trying it out. That dev seriously knows how to talk to a gamer's soul man.
@@Sobergamer61 I have no way of knowing if that's accurate or not and it doesn't matter anyway. Even if it was someone from the dev team had to write the script.
I remember seeing stuff about this game a year ago. The concept is crazy " what if you weren't the main character?" The big pull of this game that doesn't get touched on is that you're in the middle of these warring factions. You don't matter. You lure them to eachother and they fight.
This is one of the big immersion breakers for me in any multiplayer game: "Only you can save the world; you are our singular salvation" and then seeing 50+ other people be exactly the same. How many 'The Guardians' are there (D2), who felled gods and despots, who were the sole wielder of the Light in the Red War; how many 'Commanders' does the Pact have (GW2); how many Tenno discovered the secrets of Luna, felled a Grineer Queen, unleashed Parvos Granum or thwarted Ballas (Warframe, and it's rare that I ever give that game anything other than praise). I am so over being the main character when there are other players who are clearly also the main character.
I love posters on steam page. "See this sick looking psycho in armor? Yeah, that's not you. You're this shithead with giant bag, go loot some crap and try not to die to first guy""
Dude, OMG, i cant believe that this dev studio just called out every dev studio out there to make games like they were in the past when the 360/PS3-PS4 days was the "golden years". That is amazing and what they said about everything in the beginning, well lets hope they can deliver on that. Every dec studio SHOULD be like this
Loving what I'm seeing! First dev vid absolutely nailed it with the current climate of the gaming as well as how players feel about all the monetization bs that's saturated the market while the second vid did a fantastic job of world building and laying out the foundation and philosophy of their game.
I bet if it gains enough traction and success with us PC players, they’ll probably see about coming to consoles as well. They’d be hard off to NOT do that if everything goes well and they have the ability to
It might. Just not to start with. They already stated that it will be on multiple outlets, Steam, Epic, GOG (if it does well at launch) and that you won't have to register different accounts in order for people to play with each other from different platforms. I know it is more complicated than that, but, to me, that sounds like a cross-platform spirit. We'll see. Just hope it does really well and then we will see what happens.
The art direction looks amazing. Just the type of gritty but surreal stuff we've lacked for a long time. If these guys make good on their word with how they'll take the game forward, i'm definetly going to end up supporting them.
@@lazyvoid7107 Metro Exodus has been out for a while and i can't think of any contemporary titles to it that share it's aesthetic, and Stalker 2 isn't even out yet. And besides, there's more to this game's looks than the usual bleak post-apocalypse. The mechs almost remind me of 40k Knights or Dreadnoughts, the city's infrastructure being destroyed and mostly composed of the metal foundations gives me heavy Armored Core 6 vibes, and the monster enemies seem like they would fit right in on the setting of Death Stranding.
literally the first thing you see when checking the steam page is a picture of a big soldier with an arrow pointing at him saying "you are not this guy" and then the next image is a frail old homeless guy with a big backpack saying "you are this guy". The whole style of the gameplay is built around the idea that you are the smallest fish in the ocean, you WILL get whats coming to you eventually if you dont get into that mentality. Playing around the enemy factions and making sure you arent the one they are mad at is key. If they think there is a bigger threat you nearly become invisible but all it takes is a nice shiny grenade launcher in your hand and you look pretty damn scary now
13:30 There's a very important reason why the game is in the third person. Because devs want the players to not go into every situation with guns blazing. And first person makes the player see the world "through the scope", when you would be in a situation where "to the hammer all problems look like nails".
Even if this game isn’t a smash hit on release I feel like this is probably the most passionate studio in the industry and could easily get this game a HUGE following.
Nahhhh this shit sounds dark as hell....and I love it. Also the early access vid was cool. Love the no bs approach, especially love the name drops got some balls on them
0:33 - 1:18 THIS should be the standard for the industry and how the consumer should be treated. All of you “it’s a business” and “the whole point is to make money” crowd can piss off too. You can be consumer friendly and ethical while raking in money for a quality product. Only losers defend corporations who take advantage of them
I've been following forever winter for a while it is quite literally my most anticipated game of the last decade the devs seems super down to earth. but i keep a cautious mind, you never know these days who's being real or a borderline sociopath
Considering, that they are implementing mechanic that makes your water storage drain in real time, which means that if you take a long enough break from the game you are going to loose you gear and upgrades for you base, I have a very big doubts about how "real" they actually are. They seem to have a very weird idea of how to implement "hardcore" into the game. Or, in this case, outside of the game.
@@БогуславПозняк I just watched the q&a they didnt mention anything about it being set in stone. In fact theyre facing quite a bit of back lash6 from the community right now for wanting to implement such a system. I dont think theyre going to go trough with it, nobody wants a tamagochy like experience
@@NakedAvanger yes, people are not okay with this system (I'm obviously one of those people), but so far everything indicates that they will implement it. They talking about how they will make water drains slower and obtaining water easier, but the tamagochy is still there. They dance around it, and basically looking for a way to bargain on what conditions we will accept this. I do hope that community will eventually convince them to drop this idea completely, because everything else about this game is almost perfect. But I saw too many cases, when developers ego stopped them from discarding bad ideas, so I'm not optimistic on this one.
I am so buying this when it comes out, but I'll probably wait until it's a bit better and patched before I jump in. Mad props for the devs going this route too, since publishers these days would have forced lots of bs into this.
Not gonna lie, never heard of this either, but yeah, that trailer made me instantly go wishlist it when the guy was talking so candidly, you could tell his love is video games and he wants to make the best one he can. Edit: Watching the gameplay trailer, this reminds me a TON of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly. Same premise of you being a regular person thrust into a living world of horrors and conflict, struggling to survive and make a name for yourself.
The game gives me VERY similar vibes like GTFO. Fantastic looking setting, unique lore and very gritty. Like you said, doesnt look like the game where you´d be running around like you do in most shooters nowadays. Similar to GTFO :> ALSO PVE CO-OP.
I wish I had something witty or insightful to say about The Forever Winter. But then that image of corpses being hung from an artillery cannon flashes back into my mind, and I feel like I don't need to say anything.
Can everyone support this game to maximum so they can add this game to other platforms and not just that I hope they even add a crossplay in it plz I want that game to make it to console even tho they didn't show any other platforms I think would do fantastic as 2024 game .
1. Glad to see this game getting traction, been hyped about it since Riloe made a vid on it 2. Please watch the Riloe covering the development of this 3. "Not FPS, no immersion" is some shit. Project Zomboid, an isometric game, is probably one of the most immersive games I've played
Finally a developer that speaks their mind how fucked the gaming industry is now n days and having a product to finally bring back the old days of a functional full game!
