People should not be scared about this kind of add-ons. This kind of tools would help you with a specific kind of materials/models and would not take away your inner creativity and other stuff like keeping a good topology. Now you can worry about your specific creation, and if you just want to create a quick environment to display that model, you can just use these.

@deadsetanime7102 this is a rare comment. A good point well made honestly. In the future we will indeed get results from unskilled people who may not know the theory or fundamentals. So I think the skill cap will be even higher. These addons are great just as addons, the real product is the artistic value itself and how distinct it actually is. I found out that majority of 3D modellers misunderstand the artistic approach and how much of impact it has on the quality of their work. With that said, addons might be a decent way to start off and modify the generated objects, or add certain things onto an existing model. Modelling by hand is and it's still going to be a major desired skill.

0:44 You can create something far more impressive in one day. Procedural nodes of that level is only good at one thing, instancing the same 4 to 5 objects. It’s really useful when you need to instance thousands of objects for a shot far away but a tiny castle close up? It’s way better to do it by hand and no, it doesn’t take a week, you can even do it under an hour. What actually takes time is making the base objects which the creator of the nodes had to do as well. All your doing is buying pre made assets, procedural or not, purchasing pre made assets will obviously save time

This is really like shocking and it raises the question what happens to the artists job who it would be to make such things? If a lot of it can be done by a generator. Maybe use the generator then edit to taste? and then they'd be paying for the artist's taste?
@surajitsensharma5295
@surajitsensharma5295 Год назад
AI can generate and throw out alternatives. The artist first curates to choose which alternative is best fit for the context, and then modifies it to truly present the artist's perspective. The AI does the grunt work. The artist does the creative editing and modification. More often than not the process consumes more time. But the output is more considered and makes the artist more confident.
@zdenekburian1366
@zdenekburian1366 Год назад
@@surajitsensharma5295 yes but take into account the fact that there are going to be much more models on the market at much more lower price; i know well these phenomena, since 20 years ago i could sell an archviz 3ds max render starting from ten times the price it is today, mainly due to progress in lighting and material technologies (i foresaw this and quit th business in 2005 as soon as brazil and vray became popular). So to avoid an overproduction crisis and a fall of profit crisis in the sector, it will be needed a much broader market to sell all of these products and at least maintain the same profit rate. To make this happen, the exponential adoption of automated applications should absolutely not cause a decrease in the number of human worked hours, since real profits, on average in a a free market, come only if there is human work to exploit. Due to debt servicing and other financial factors, profits from human work should increase 1.5% yearly to avoid a crisis. You say this ai pipeline requires more work to the artist, but since we should consider the total models number increase and the total artists workforce, I'm not so sure that productivity increase Is going to match market absorption in the future.

Can we do the other way around, and have, like game mechanics or some of the more complicated animations auto generated and/ or bought? I'm personally in the market for a pause function that actually freezes everything moving and automatic timed camera reset. Next, instead of me and others interested in modelling, texturing, and simple animations slaving away in factories or doing stuff we hate, can we just kill the AI generated thing, and sell our wacky fun stuff we make? Asking for a friend. Thanks but no thanks to cutting all the fun out of everything I do for fun.

Tell me, who would commission you for generating generic stuff?

People who want/need things done quickly, and don’t need everything to be designed and built from scratch, which is a lot of people.

How practical is using generators in a professional setting? Say vfx?

very practical, vfx is alot of things , so you have to be specific

after reading all the comments, here is the reality, Artists who work for companies will use this, Artists who do this as a hobby or a passion will also use it for what ? to fine tune their own ideas.

Well the client won’t care if you worked hard on something it may feel better to you but he wants it done as soon as possible as long as it looks good to him

I'd rather model something from scratch than have it generated for me. Besides, all of these models were modeled by someone. Still, unique.

This stuff is great , but Castle generator at #1 is pretty bad if you want an actual authentic castle look, and I could take you up on that $100 in a week. Whoever made it needs to study castle anatomy than guessing. I'm making my own using geo nodes because I couldn't find anything decent out there.

Anatomy is a branch of biology. It's all about the structure of organisms. Castles don't have anatomy, so how can someone study it? Let's be honest, you're blowing smoke out of your butt and calling it perfume. Get the skills and knowledge to actually flex on people or don't flex.

first off... a generator is cool in a sense. make your own models for the generator to put together. it'll still be your work. but... if your telling me for a second that people are going to be using this and other peoples work, then calling it their own... that just don't fly... it's the same when people take an AI GEN art that's been Frankenstein'ed together, then modeling exact and calling it their own. truly most of this stuff kills imagination. and make lazy people, that I wouldn't call artists any more, tracing is for beginners and practice, and maybe close to trying to come to find your own form. but if everyone traces the same thing... or uses the same shit over and over and over. life becomes grey, I hope you guys try actually learning to model, as well as draw. And I'm not talking to everyone in this. I'm talking to those of you that are starting out.
