In this video we are looking at the amazing Timex Q chronograph on Jazz vibes. A quartz watch, made so well... that puts to shame the hyped Moonswatch. Let's see why!
@@nbcuni Why not if you like it? I own several expensive watches (Sea Dweller, a couple of Omegas, a vintage Longines) but also a Dan Henry, Steinhart, Hamilton, Seiko, etc. A few months ago, I was given some old watches (Timex, another Longines, an old Seiko, etc) I'm all about "If you like it, wear it" personally I don't care about brands and lately I have found better designs coming from microbrands.
Brilliant summary of the Q Chrono ! Thank you! - I ordered 2, one with the bracket and one with black leather, both reverse panda - also note some design elements which remind me not only of the Rolex Daytona but also of the Tudor Black Bay Chrono reverse panda. For me the design is a winner ( I already own an Omega Speedmaster but I still couldn't resist this Q Chrono !)
Yes sir it’s a more serious, versatile use than the MoonSwatch. Perfect value. Great starter watch. Doesn’t break the bank. Looks better than most chronographs that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars more.
Wow this watch looks way better than it’s priced. I like the texture on the small dials, that goes to show the value in detail your getting with this watch.
That watch is beautiful. I mostly wear Omega and Longines watches, but when I want to really have fun, I wear my Timex M79 Snoopy. This looks so good too!
I have the same watch, but with the panda dial, I love the vintage style that timex put on this model, it reminded me a lot of the Rolex 6241. I love that timex makes these classic designs at an excellent price. And yes, I will also buy the black dial and bracelet variant😁☘️
I like the Chrono! Simple, classy well executed. I picked up a Pan Am homage chrono when it was first released, reminds me of IWC Flieger, I really love it, the presentation box and goodies that came with it were a nice surprise.
Think it's ankh Time that a chronograph like this came along... Great job Timex... A handsome watch, at a handsomely affordable price too... U gave the big boys no more excuses... Thanks Timex. 😁 💖 🤗 💯
Its a good looking timepiece. Timex was my first watch, I was 8 lol. My big brother.got the watch I wanted. The huge digital with a red Glass, and massive bracelet. The timex Lasted a lot longer. Great review. 👍
I was swithering between the Timex and the new "Origins" chronograph from Accurist which has the integrated bracelet and some good looking colour combos🧐 but they use a movement with the chrono second hand in the 6 o'clock sub dial making the chrono function almost useless.😱 so, informative as you vid was, I will have to see both watches in hand to decide, then again at £200 I could have both😁
Great review.. Absolutely love this timepiece and the retro vibe it creates .It has had a lot of wrist time! Only negative I can think of, is no micro adjusts on the bracelet. That would have made this watch nearly perfect…
FIrst I thoroughly enjoy your review format, you get directly to the point and relay the information that watch collectors are searching. Like many, my first thought was "Ah, Rolex Daytona!". Though Timex has nailed this wristwatch almost perfectly, I can't get past that domed/bubble glass. TOO much unwanted reflections, which is why Rolex(and many others) are flat. The second item, though not that critical, but would make the watch truly stand out is the semi-tick sweeping movement of the seconds hand. Time would truly knock it out of the park if they could transition to a smooth quartz sweeping second hand movement. I don't know how difficult that is to insert, but I have a fairly inexpensive wall clock that has a smooth quartz sweeping second hand. I want to love this watch, truly I do, but I find myself looking back toward a Bulova Precisionist.
Hi , what a beautiful looking Timex. Thank you for analysing it for us. I enjoyed the video. We should get them imported to our country. Regards Mark Maddison, Durban, South Africa.
Just discovered these last night, we'll these were sold out but I got the waterbury chronograph. With 2 cupon codes it came out to 160 so I decided to get a year warranty. Hopefully I can find a bracelet or nice rubber strap to fit. I just love how the lugs arnt separate where the watch and bracelet come together seamlessly. Oh well I'm on the notification list and the waterbury will be the first to start my collection.
I got this watch after watching this video. Got it for £140. Saving £60 after timex had 30% off for a day. It's my favourite watch now. Can't stop looking at it. I was considering the prx but in person I was underwhelmed. I'm glad I walked past the moonswatch booth and got this timex instead
I like the moonswatch idea, but unfortunately whatever watch has not at least mineral glass as glass is a no go for me. If msw would have a mineral/sapphire crystal instead i would have probably bought one already (yes, i know the original mw has not sapphire either).
Nice. A little too thick, I agree. For me the pushers stick out too much. For the price a good looking, functional watch that will probably last years being a timex👍
Timex was sold out of these for a long time. The got more in stock yesterday or the day before and sold out again in a day. But I got to order one! Yesss!!!
I bought a reverse Panda for my kid for only 150.00. This watch is a steal. It looks and feels a lot like my very expensive watches. He loves it, and is wearing it all the time.
Great video! But READ THIS before you buy this watch. I really wanted to love this watch but the chronograph hand wasnt lined up, and I wore it outside in the cold one time and condensation formed under the glass. Apparently I'm not the only one this happened to. An autorized dealer in Demmark actually issues a warning with this watch: "Rapid changes in temperature can cause condensation inside the watch. If you notice moisture beneath the glass, you should immediately go to a watchmaker, who can open and dry the watch. If condensation occurs, it very rarely (if ever) depends on manufacturing, so if your watch is damaged by moisture, warranty will probably not cover it." I returned it and bought a True North Vintage Rally Timer. It looks almost exactly the same but better. Its 38mm, has normal lugs, and no giant Q on the dial. I now have 2 different ones and I enjoy them so much that I quit wearing my Rolex Sub. Check my channel for an unboxing. Also give this guy props for the hard work he put into this phenomenal video!
Looks great, i like the color of the sub dials and everything else in this watch. I've been wondering do i buy the MoonSwatch is it worth it? and i found this watch. I want to buy my first watch. Should it be this one?
dang, i had this in hand and returned it. I returned it for the Waterbury Chronograph, I dont regreat it. But now seeing this review I noticed a few things i missed. I also had the leather strap model. hmm. awesome.
Finishing looks really tight for the money, Timex is a brand I remember from being a child (I'm in my 40s now) so it triggers some real nostalgia for me. Great vid my friend.
Love this design! However it’s too similar to my Lorier Gemini and I already have a Tissot Seastar quartz chrono so I won’t be adding one to my collection.
Timex, excellent watches. I have a vintage reef gear 200m diver perpetual. Fantastic bang for buck. Vintage well made and accurate. Why pay Swiss watch prices.
A really good looking chronograph watch! Looking at your world map, if you bought this in Melbourne, Australia, I may have saved you some postage!🤣 For some reason I’ve found Timex prices here are well above overseas prices.😡😔🇦🇺👍🏼
love the watch! is it a meccaquartz? as it seems to have a sweeping seconds hand in the video. also, does anyone know how this compares to the Waterbury panda?
It's not mecha-quartz. The chrono seconds hand is a quartz movement that sweeps at 1/5 second movement, so it looks mechanical. But unlike a mechanical or mecha-quartz movement, the hand does not reset by immediately snapping back to zero counter-clockwise. Instead, it resets by rotating clockwise, just like all other quartz chronos.
Can somebody say from experience, how the acrylic lens is holding up? I am a bit concerned. Other companies sometimes even offer sapphire crystals at this price point. Great video and really nice looking watch though!
Quite an impressive watch and great deal. Perfect size, nice ergonomics, fantastic price. It blows the MoonSwatch (total waste of money) away on all fronts. There's only one thing that turns me off to considering it as an additional to my collection. That's the 24H sundial. Such a useless complication. So, almost perfect, but I can't compromise on my dislike of the 24H sundial. So unfortunate Timex didn't consider using that space to put a 1/10 sec sundial as in their Waterbury collection.
@@BraveBeaters if you think about it, it's actually not so useless 1. It points towards the racing heritage they allude to here, where there are occasions where a 24 Hour measurement comes into play (think 24h of Le Mans) 2. It is a day/night display: If you are in cave etc. it can be useful to know if it is pm or am (think Rolex Explorers).
Not useless at all. When you're working 18 hour shifts in places with no windows and no cell service and you want to know if it's 5am or pm when you wake up from a nap it's incredibly useful.
It's not that Timex didn't consider the 1/10 subdial. At this price point, Timex isn't spending money making their own movements so that they can specify exactly which subdials they want. So they can only include the subdials for whichever off-the-shelf movements they pick for their watches. In this case, the Epson chronograph movement provided the desired 1/5 second sweeping hand, but it has a 24 hr subdial instead of a 1/10 second subdial.
I get why, but I personally love it. My name starts with a Q and it makes me feel more connected with the watch. Plus I just think it looks unique, I may not have money for a Daytona yet but I sure as hell can buy a watch with a big ass Q on it!
