I basically use whichever books seem the most interesting to my kids and/or me. The CMEC has some more diverse/modern books this year that I definitely want to include, but AO has some great classics! (CMEC does too of course, just saying.) It’s really just a matter of cherry picking the resources that I think will be the best fit from each. Hopefully this makes any sense! 😂
I’m hoping to combine Memoria with CM types. Do you use Memoria more for the phonics/language side and then do literature, history, etc with CM options? Just trying to figure out how to do it! Thanks!
So you can really use MP enrichment books which are literature, social studies, and science just how you’d use any other picture books. I then supplement with other CM providers (CMEC or AO) for things like more fairy tales, nature studies, geography, etc. MP uses the Blue Fairy book in older grades in a different way than CM curriculum does, so it depends on what your goals are. BUT to sum it all up, I think it works really well for a lot of the typical literature based reasons! (I hope this actually answers your question 😂 please let me know if it’s ambiguous!)
Okay I think I follow! Thank you! Obviously haven’t jumped in yet so I’m sure it will all come together when I do 😂. I guess I’m still worried about the reading/phonics side of things with CM. But I may just need to do more digging into her methods there! Thanks for your reply!
MP’s reading/phonics program is 🔥 I did have to slow it down for my kindergartener, but now that we’re in first grade she’s getting back up to their pace and reading fluently!
She LOVED East of the Sun, West of The Moon (the one she showed the illustration for). We’re currently nearing the finish of The White Cat and we really like that one as well!
