I completely relate in envying the way others react so positively to adhd meds! took me years to be able to see a psychiatrist, spent that entire time researching vyvanse and hearing peoples life changing experiences, it sounded perfect for me. i finally had my appointment and was so excited to start medication and feel the way it made others feel... but it has done absolutely nothing for me. i am only on day 7, but I've felt no effects of the medication besides maybe slight loss of appetite and on the first day I felt a little less dreadful at work. now I just feel so disappointed, and I feel silly for thinking meds would immediately work for me the way they work for others. hopefully a higher dose benefits the both of us 🤞 thank you for sharing your experience with concerta, looking forward to more updates ♡
Hi Sarah :) I'm so glad that I'm not the only one, although it's a bit of a pants situation for both of us. The treatment of ADHD and the associated mental health issues is really complicated and I think it's important that we remember that one little pill isn't going to sort out lives out. Unfortunately, it's difficult not to dream! I am trying my best to do things like exercise and socialising to complement the drug-treatment, but it's hard work. How are you getting on now? Did they increase your dose? I'm on 36mg now (see most my recent vlog!).
@ADHDEmily absolutely, you're so right! I need to keep reminding myself that medication isn't a miracle cure, just a tool to use alongside effort being put towards other areas to help ourselves. I wasn't able to get an appointment as soon as I hoped but managed to get one for tomorrow afternoon so hopefully that turns out positive :) I watched your recent vlog and I'm SO glad to see it's working better for you now! already looking forward to your next vlog/more updates 😊
It’s so reassuring hearing someone else that didn’t feel Concerta 18mg made a huge change I’m currently going through my titration and 18mg doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything and I was getting in my head that it was me. Thank you for sharing your experience it makes it so much easier for people going through it ❤
Hi Dylan - I'm so glad my videos have been reassuring for you! Everyone is different and I think sometimes we forget that 'comparison is the thief of joy'. I wish you all the best on your journey to health and happiness! :)
Thanks for sharing, these types of vlogs are really helpful. I have been diagnosed but not started medication yet, seeing the psychiatrist again next week. Can I ask how they came to the decision to try on extended release methylphenidate instead of ritalin? In your experience is it a two way discussion when you go the doc? I'm very nervous ha.
Hi there Rachel, Thank you for your comment :) I'm so glad the vlogs are helpful to you. So my doctor and I discussed the potential different forms of the medication I could take, and instant-release methylphenidate (Ritalin) was mentioned, however, we ultimately decided against it as you have to take several tablets over the course of a day and I felt like I would probably forget to take that many (classic ADHD behaviour). The slow-release one means that I just take one tablet in the morning and then my brain can forget about it! It was a two-way discussion, so I could express my preference. That is very much a personal thing though, and depends on the type of doctor you have. Please remember that I am not a medical professional so can only speak from my experience - your doctor will know what is best for you :) I hope your appointment went well and you got an outcome that feels suitable for you! Good luck with your medication journey :)
Hi! Recently diagnosed as well. If this helps, i took concerta 18mg for two weeks and felt nothing but sleepy. They bumped me up to 36 an first few days I felt a little axious and weird but felt the same to me. Then the 7th day of that first week on 36mg I woke up, took my meds and it finally hit me. It was an Eureka moment for me. Then I continued with 36mg for another week but literally the next days it didnt make much effect to me anymore, so this week ive been increased to 54mg. Lets see how it goes. So yeah, probably is a low dose for you. Keep your hopes up!
Hey there - thank you for commenting on my video! I'm on 36mg now (see my most recent vlog) and after 1 week I'm definitely feeling some sort of effect. I just hope it lasts and I don't become immune like you did. How is 54mg treating you?
@@adhdemily it's definitely better for me rn, the problem I have is that it's not working for executive function at all for me. More like an antianxiety pill. We'll see how it goes. Hugs!
Maybe it's two early to come up with a conclusion since it's only the next day on my concerta 18 my. But I definitely feel no difference between me on medication and me without it too.
I think this is good - in the sense that you know that your personality is the same, you just are more efficient and focused. I hope it continues to treat you well :) x
