Peening symmetrically is such an underappreciated skill. I love the tip about starting with your weaker technique. I always struggle with getting it even on both sides of the centerline.
Have you thought of doing a video on cold punching or making the tools for cold punching? It's not something I've tried yet and I haven't made the tools either. Just a thought. Great video sir I enjoy making that style handle, may have to try that bar size it looks much easier than starting with round or square.
@@AxeAndAnvil only videos I have seen so far is with bought cast tools where you pull a lever. Haven't looked deep for them yet but I'm interested, sounds easier and less stressful than trying to do it hot with something thin
Hauke, he's asking about the bottom swedge. Yes, I did make it. I simply forged and filed a piece mimicking what I wanted the handle to look like before bending, and then drove that master pattern down into the block of hot steel.
I thought that was how you made it just checking thought maybe someone out there sold them I’m thinking for production runs sometimes easier to purchase then to make thanks
Gotcha. Yeah, no one making them for sale that I know of. Though Sam Perakis @_scald on IG might make you one if you asked. I need to make myself several more of different sizes for my own use. I'll do a video when I do.
