Horrible failure!? Dude. That hammer looks awesome! Handles are easily replaced. I wish i could produce a hammer like that one. I, for one. Have been inspired to try this myself. Thank you!

Don’t worry about over tempering. I take all hammers i make for use with forging and temper to a blue purple. I’ve used a mild steel hammer for a while with very little damage. It’s for using with tools like punches and the hot cut hardy. When working hot iron even mild steel or annealed carbon steel is much harder than the hot iron
