I don't know whether we can ever call Dmitry "the best". Comparing him to other makers is like comparing Rembrandt with Rubens, Hokusai with Utamaro, Dostoevskii with Turgenev. I have a couple of his harps, which are now practically unobtainable in Europe, and marvellous harps they are, too. I gave one away to a friend because he's a much better player than me, and I thought he deserved it.

Made my first vargan. Took 2 days. I now have a greater appreciation of the common jaw harp. It is now a favorite instrument. I have a total of 9. They each have their own unique sound.

The truth is babayev is in fact one of the best harp makers alive. His harps are truly something else. His munnharpe are better than some of the munnharpe iv played that were norwegian made. I hope this man is able to make harps long into his golden age .
