Couldn't turn off phone because it was asking for pin # that I didn't know , however I could hit restart w/o pin # and for the brief period when the phone was off I could initiate recovery procedures .

what happens if it won't let you switch off the device because it requires a password??? i've been through 19 youtube videos, downloaded 5 different apps that say they can remove it and have punched at least 59 different objects.

Just let the battery drain fully. After that charge the phone without switching it on. Once charged, start from the step where phone restarts.

My S8 pattern pin stopped working 5 days ago. The dots would not connect for some reason. This happened out of the blue and I'm positive I was entering the correct pattern. I couldn't shut my phone down without the pin. I called Samsung and they were no help at all. I chatted with their customer service online and they basically told me that there was nothing they could do to help. Even though this is an issue with the phone, not a forgotten pass code. My local phone repair shop is charging $60 to do a factory reset !!! I eventually decided to do the factory reset and your video is the easiest to understand and most helpful. I let my battery die down by running the camera video and flash light. Then I followed your video step by step. Once I finished the reset I was able to keep a lot of my old data because it was saved to my Samsung and Google accounts. No more pattern codes for me Thanks for the video

you've explained everything right, but you didn't told about the factory reset protection( frp) lock, which will still ask the google account details which are configured on that device. this is simply misleading.

You can't turn off the security or change the PIN until you do not the current one. The best option is to just keep using as it is because you are fingerprint is working fine or take a backup of all your data and apps, after that perform a hard reset.

Click on restart device instead switch off... soon it switches off then use the 3 buttons it will still let you do factory reset.

Hi Kim, it happens sometimes due to Samsung's FRP and Android security. Are you trying to connect using the same old WiFi? If the SIM is inserted, mobile Internet is working and getting the option to skip WiFi setting?

I was so upset and I have really bad anxiety issues. Thankfully I had my old phone. Currently I am on my break at work and I found this video which helped greatly! Just leave the phone until it's battery is not drained fully. After that charge it without switching it on. Once battery is charged, start the process directly using the key combination.... Good luck :)

What if I bought a used phone and the owner and I deleted all of his stuff and have put my own google accounts, apps, etc. But I just went to do a reset many months later and noticed that the s8 still has HIS Samsung account on it. And I do not know the password or how to reach him and he has not responded to me emailing the email that shows up when it asks for the password to the samsung account. Is there anyway to remove his email and samsung account if everything else on the phone is mine? I know if I did a master reset like in your video it is not a way to get by google FRP but it's my google on the phone, could Samsung account also make it to I cannot do a full reset? Or just a way to remove his samsung account??

Just let the battery drain fully. Once the phone is off due to low battery, charge the phone but do not switch it on. Once it is charged fully, start the step from there directly.

I have no doubt this would work but my samsung requires me to input the swipe password (that i have forgotten, therefore can't get into the phone) to turn the device off to reset it. Is there any steps i can take that'll go around this?

Jsut let the battery die fully, then charge it without switching it on. Once charge start from the stpe where the phone is turned off

I’m stuck with this too. I can’t even shut down my phone as it’s asking me the pattern to shut down the phone too. If I knew the pattern why would I factory reset my phone lol! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

hi Shaan, thx for the tutorial, the Factory Reset and Reboot was successful. Then the S8 mobile asked to enter Google acct. (as the data was wipied), i entered same google acct multiple times, it was not getting Logged in completely, kept giving errors, i Reset device again, same way tried enter via Google acct , still its not giving me access, what could be a Solution?

Hey when I try to power off the phone it asks for the password, what I noticed when u were turning off ur phone it was already opened with the password 😐...

If completely locked out (can't turn phone off) keep holding the 3 buttons and restart(not power-off) until android logo.

I would suggest to wait a bit, maybe the owner will call on this phone and you will be able to return the device to him/her. If not, device is yours anyway.
