The picture you have with the wall fallen down, was the 1984 League Cup Semi-final 2nd leg at Fellows Park...the wall came down when Liverpool scored (I was there)... the only time supporting Liverpool... been to see Tranmere Rovers play there a few more times.
As a Walsall Fan Since 1998 (Never lived in the area till then) ive never witnessed Fellows park, So thank you for a great video of what it was like UTS
Im a Walsall season ticket holder and this brings back so many fond memories of going to Fellows Park with my Dad through the 80’s. I was at the Liverpool game when the wall wall fell down. Hopefully under our new ownership, we can get back to the Championship. Keep up the good work, UTS.
Oh how this made the memories come flooding back from my first match in 1962/63 season onwards. Took my son at the same age (8) as mine did me, and he is still an avid supporter/season ticket holder today. Unfortunately dodgy painful 70 yr old knees prevent me from going now. Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to put this together.
American here. I just wanted to say I really enjoy your channel. I've always been fascinated by old football (soccer) stadiums, and really stadiums in general. Keep up the great work.
@@indiekiddrugpatrol3117 Already watched it lol. If you're a stadium aficionado, check out The Polo Grounds, former home to the Major League's New York Giants, now San Francisco Giants.
Wonderful stuff - thanks for doing it. Both my granddads were at the Walsall v Arsenal FA Cup match in the 1930's - the Saddlers most famous win. One of my granddads had his wallet pinched at the game...probably a cockney 'dipper' up for the day. I was there for the Liverpool match in 1984 - League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg (2-2 at Anfield) - we had them on the run in the first half but then Souness took over and Liverpool won 2-0. This was the match when the wall collapsed behind the goal. There was definitely more than 19,000 there that night ! Cheers again.
Great memories, spent many a happy hour at Fellows Pk. Was there for the final game, as well as some great cup ties knocking Man. Utd and Newcastle out of FA cup.
Many happy memories of supporting Walsall FC at Fellows Park from the early 80s to its closure. However, as you show in the pictures, it was ramshackle and not fit for purpose. Regrettably, its replacement, The Bescot Stadium, though an improvement, isn't as good as it should have been - it was built on the cheap with too many pillars obstructing views of the goals - unforgivable for a modern stadium.
Very good video and great to see. Have you noticed at 03.31 that in the view is what appears to be a young girl in a dress when the rest of the ground is deserted. Spooky!! Spent so many happy hours in this ground shouting the Saddlers on and was there for the last ever game played, Peter Hart’s testimonial.
No problem ar kid ,.. never knew this channel existed ,I do now , been looking g at the old grounds you been talking about ,been on a few of them ,again thank you , keep safe 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴
Another ground I never went to, but I've eaten in the cafe in the Morrison's supermarket that's there now before going to support Rovers away at The Bescot. Last season, however, I went to a nearby chippy for lunch. As I sat on a bench in a nearby park eating it, a guy walked by with a tame crow (or a rook, or a raven - I can't tell the difference) sat on his shoulder! The Bescot was built to the same design as Scunthorpe's Glanford Park, although they've increased the height of one of the stands since. You an see it very clearly as you drive by on the M6. Up The Gas!
Another great video. 👏🏻 How about White City Stadium? QPR played there for two spells & it held the Uruguay v France game in the 1966 World Cup. It might be a tough task to find a lot of info on it though. Great work & a great look back on football history.
Was the first ground I ever watched a professional match at! Was visiting my uncle who was a Walsall season ticket holder it was Walsall v Gillingham around 1986 can’t remember the score!
Do one remember when fellows park had new lights installed.all so some pictures of the floodlight pylons.which I have to build a scale model of one of the pylons thank you
