Something about this idea of cycles of civilisation, or the stacking on top of kingdoms over eachother across thousands of years is so captivating. I have alot of trouble with my worldbuilding, because everything i wanted my world to be forgotten realms already is, its basically my perfect fantasy setting
exactly!! when I first started getting into D&D, I tried to make my own fictional world for my groups adventures to take place, but the more I researched D&D, the more I found out that 'my' ideas were already in the forgotten realms. For example, I made a lich villain that ruled a decent city and had an army of undead, before I even knew about szazz tam
I have always felt there should be multiple myth for these things =in the books. That the fun thing about The Raven Queen. Currently there are three different myths about Who she is or her Origin in the 5e books.
I come here because I've played Civilization V with Faerun Mod which itself is awesome. I haven't played any Dungeons and Dragons game because no one know how to play it in my country. But damn, the myths and the lore are fascinating. Thanks for the video man.

The history of Forgotten realms is basically a mix of Mystra getting wrecked and reincarnating to get wrecked again and Ao being sick of everyones shit.

At the moment I don't find a corresponding playlist though, other than "D&D Adventures and Mechanics", but that one is not centered arout teaching how to play. I remember wishing there was a source of concise and thorough summaries of the world, histories, gods, etc. When I found this channel I was super happy, and still am. Please keep going. I know the work can be a lot at times and I sincerely appreciate that you do it so others can access this information more easily and conveniently.

Honestly, had shelved Faerun for some time, seeing as my groups don't like pre-built worlds (and tend to prefer Pathfinder or non-d20), but seeing afew of your videos has reignited my love of the Forgotten Realms.
Thank you so much for all of these videos and congrats on 100! One topic I would love to see you cover is "how to start learning about lore/dieties." I started with fifth edition and have the sword coast adventurer's guide. I appreciate that you put links to your sources in the videos but I'm still sort of overwhelmed with where to start finding stuff. Which books do you find yourself returning to the most? What is the preferred "reading order" of these books? Which books can you skip? Its super impressive how you know all of this stuff cold and I'd like to check out some primary sources. Thank you!
The forgotten realms wiki is really the place to start. There are loads of people that try to keep it as accurate as possible. As far as recommending books, it depends on the topic. For History I'd recommend "Grand History of the Realms." Although it's a bit dry on reading. For deities the AD&D book Faiths and Avatars is a great place to start.
I wonder how scrolls get their magic? I believe it would have origins with Mystra, although, it could go further back than that, which led up to the Sundering.
Congratz on the 100th video! I've just binge-watched the entire channel but I gotta say: After EVERYTHING covered... where are the videos on "Normal" gods? You know, Pelor, Cuthberd, Hextor etc... not to mention a nice series suggestion of "Lesser known dieties" like Afflux (from 3.5).
Hi! Thanks for watching! Pelor and others are gods from different pantheons. I kind of set myself up to be a Forgotten Realms youtuber but I have done some non-Forgotten Realms videos. Making just D&D Lore videos is appealing. Definitely keeping the idea open of covering deities and campaign settings.

The "Lore" of the forgotten realms is what happens when you give the task of writing it to 50 People and noone finish their works. Its a mayham beyond crazy
I heard a lore that Amadeus and the god of the Quadals where the creators by biting each others tails and swearing around creating the worlds and planes.
Hey man, I tried asking on an earlier vid... I have come across info stating IO and Asgorath are the same (Not AO though). If that is so, how did IO/Asgorath get split in two by the ax (into Bahamut and Tiamat?), only to later hurl eggs or whatever at Abeir-Toril right before AO split it?
You make solid points, and I wish I had a better answer. I think it was the confusion 4th edition brought with the realms. They wanted to incorporate Dragonborn into the Forgotten Realms so I think they rewrote Asgorath's part in the world. The timelines don't match up, but Asgorath did create dragons, he did hurl that ice moon at Abeir Toril and apparently he also got in a fight with another Primordial and lost.
@@Jorphdan It was about the different ways a powerful artifact was used to create the next evolution of a world that eventually in Forgotten Realms. I was to say at one point there were like these scrolls or something. After the artifact is used it becomes a different item. LOL I know I know, Too Much Content! JK But thank you for responding.
Short story it was an inside joke and became my twitter handle in 2011. Flash forward and I used it when starting my RU-vid channel. In hind sight it is kind of confusing, but I'm a bit stuck with it now unless I do some serious rebranding :)

I’m looking for novels on the gods interacting. Like the time of troubles for instance , is this story within a novel detailing what the gods did ?
@@Jorphdan Indeed... AFAIK, Lord AO is just one of many Over Deities in the Multiverses, all filled with millions of crystal spheres... I know only Realms Space, Gray Space, Krynn, and our own universe, but apparently any game setting out there are supposed to float in the Philongiston...
Maybe not because the remakes of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights were pretty popular. As well as games like Divinity Original sin. I too would like to see a new Neverwinter Nights style game.
I love your videos but some of your pronunciations have me gritting my teeth. 😅 Selunê is pronounced like seluna. The accent mark has a specific phonetic you should look them up when you come across them. ☺
