Great Video!!! I went to a Green Day Concert at Saltair in 1994 and it was NOT like you saw it. It smelled like...The Carnival of Souls, or like dead fish and rotting Salt Lake. In the 80s it was flooded. GREAT concert, though. So glad you and Sean got to visit!!! THANKS!!!
I was in that area last week, saw Salt Lake city from the interstate, caught a glimps of the Great Salt Lake from the same interstate highway,I traveled west to see the Bonneville Salt flats, and Race track.
Hi from Australia! How interesting this video was, as are all your videos. The bowling alley was right out of Happy Days. Enjoyed having Sean along. I'm watching this late at night and after seeing your food I'm hungry !! Never fails !
I remember stumbling across Carnival of Souls on Amazon late one night, years ago. I had no idea what it was. But the name intrigued me and I was in the mood for something ’old’. It’s now one of my favorites. Visually unique and creepy. Love it. I remember thinking, ‘that looks like Salt Lake.’ Also, FRY SAUCE is a Utah/Idaho thing. And delicious.
Great to see you both! Wish you could of seen the lake in it's glory! Where you were walking was once filled with water. The Great Salt Lake is just a mere memory of what she once was. Thank you both for giving me a look at what once was a beautiful, large lake.
Your videos always cheer me up no matter the subject matter and I needed it today. Death in the family gives ya a wide range of emotions and I needed to find things to make me smile.~~ SLC is a pretty place. The bowling alley is cute and definitely retro. I loved the horse in the video coming over to ya. Cute horsey.
So glad you got to Midway. We drove through there in August and when I saw the Fill er up station, I thought you’d like it. I suggested you go to Midway in an earlier video. Whether it was coincidence or because of my recommendation, I don’t care. Just glad you got to see it.
Carnival of Souls is an awesome movie. I highly recommend a good, high quality version (which is out there - but even the cheaper versions are good, too). Really well shot and produced for those types of movies back in the early 60s. Too bad none of the original buildings remain, but cool to see they've tried to keep something going there. Great history to that location. I believe it was abandoned even back then when they did the film. But still - a really cool film. Thanx for showing these locations. Take care, bud.
Adam, I just watched Carnival of Souls this afternoon. Wow. It's a shame that original (second building I know) doesn't exist anymore. But you did an amazing job documenting it's existence and showing its remains.
Very interesting day Glad you & friend had a nice day exploring areas most of us would just drive by. When we travel my husband would say we’ll stop on the way back. Thanks for finding all these places for us to see. Till next time!
Heber valley is known for it's railroad train called the Heber creeper. It was used to transport cattle back in the late 1800's. They nicknamed the train in 1970 when they started giving tours of the valley to people. They still have them going to this day. That's why there is so much train stuff all around.
I have seen some awesome Concerts at Saltair. The craziest one was Beastie Boys on the Ill Communication tour. Kids were jumping off the balcony onto the stage.
Didn't know about that restaurant up in Heber. I shall have to check it out! Looks great. Heber Valley is soo pretty! Fry sauce is big throughout Utah in general.
OMG, Carnival of Souls is one of my favorite horror films! Not long ago I researched the filming locations & you must of read my mind! Thanks for featuring it!
Great video, dudes!!! Very interesting and multi-faceted. You ran the gamut of all different attractions and rolled with it beautifully!!!! From the great Salt Lake, to the cult classic location for Carnival of Soul's, to old architecture from I believe the 1950's at the iconic Bowling Alley, which was very cool, though I had the movie Truth or Consequences with Keifer Sutherland, but don't remember the bowling alley at all, but I am very old(65) to the old 🏠 stiric gallows buildings area, to animals n nice farms, the classic phone booth, the scenic sight of the Salt Lake City Capital Bldg, you two showed it all, and it was very entertaining Attaboy, Adam the Woo n Sean Clark,!!!! Best one I Ve seen of yours in a while. Love the roadside attraction videos,!!!!👏🌠🌟
Watched a trailer of this film before watching the vlog, definitely one I'll watch, can't beat an old black and white horror, not into blood and gorr, enjoyed the vlog Adam, how random was that fella and the old lawn mower, and what exactly was he mowing enjoyed seeing Sean in the vlog, yep good vlog
So much driving in ONE DAY!! People don’t realize that Saltair is about a 90 minute drive to Heber City and then another 60 minute drive back down to the Salt Lake City Fairgrounds. Impressive day!
Hey Adam, those deer were mule deer, very different from the common Whitetail deer found in the East. I noticed the ears are huge compared to whitetail deer. Another great video Thanks !
HEY ATW...YOUR RANDOM DAY TURNED OUT TO BE ONE OF YOUR most interesting vlogs. What is it with Sean Clark and you? You guys show up at places where no one can get in, then suddenly you guys are inside!?!! Of all the collabs you do, Sean is the best. He is an encyclopedia of horror and sci-fi, plus you both are like a comedy team.
appreciate Adam Adam omg❤ I bowled in the 60’s in an exact same bowling alley Just awesome Adam love this video cuz yu showed us everything in one video. Wild turkeys like awesome
The videos where you just do random things are my favorite. That restaurant looked amazing! I don't know what my favorite part is but that phone booth was incredible.
It's crazy to see how much the great salt lake has receded. I went to a Get Lucky concert (I believe 2011) with Calvin Harris here and went up the steps around @4:00 (you could see a bar at the top level) and you'd get drinks there with a balcony outside. The water of the Salt lake way maybe 100 yards from that balcony. Now it looks like a mile or two away
I went to my Junior prom at Saltair in 1984, it’s not as fabulous looking as it used to be and the lake used to come right up to it as well, a great ghost town to visit is Grafton in southern Utah, just outside of Zion national park in Rockville, and fry sauce is a must in Utah, I love all your videos.
@30:50,need one of those time period phone booths ,got the phones, got all the switches to make everything functional including the inside light, but sold the ones I got decades ago when my pops worked for the telephone company 📞 had one of the NYC Chinatown phones back from the 70's & 80's, but that one went overseas...should have kept it
Also, I have this movie and it is considered a cult classic, as is the actress who played in it. Very cool that you decided to show us this classic n iconic movie setting!! Attaboy, Adam n Sean!!! Attaboy plus to "Carnival of Souls"!!!
So crazy to see the lake this empty. In the early 80s we passed by Salt Lake and it was completely flooded. That is my only memory of the place. We didn't get to go to any of the beaches because it was flooded.
Also the old resort Saltair had the tallest wooden rollercoaster in the world at the time before the fire. And after they remade it they brought in and made a new roller coaster
