Forgotten VW BUS Rescued Found Sitting 20 years - Yard Find 1969 Volkswagen Camper Van 

The sound of VW bus side door sliding shut. The sound of at least half my life.

After rebuilding my 1st vw engine back stock I always built them back for as much hp as possible without all the exotic machining and high dollar parts.. My buddy built all of his with the machine work and Uber expensive parts and his always broke or had issues,mine didn't.. After watching Darren and Jays videos so long it kinda makes me want to get back into the dubs again but today's prices,phew .

It's always a good feeling when your kids show superior judgement! Josh picked a great mom and an interesting father. He will do fine.

Looks like a tin-top Westy. Campmobile was just Volkswagen's official name for the Westfalia models sold in the US and Canada. Definitely have seen ones in worse condition then that on the road. Nice to see the '58 coming together. Maybe Josh would like to become a master welder and metalworker. Wouldn't that be cool to get the young generation into this sort of thing?

We've all seen worse! It's great to see another bus being rescued. Too bad about the window being open, it would have saved that floor. Another great video, Jason.

The bay window is a great thing. If Mustie1 is going to get it running I'm in for less than 1 hour total work time.

Why, I ask myself, do we take on these projects knowing full well it is going to take forever to finish? Because, I also tell myself, you gotta love the vision in your head when you start.

The residential light switch had me laughing. Hippies ruined a lot of old VW's back in the day. Campmobile is a Westfalia term, poptop or tin top. If that engine runs well, and is what it is thought to be, it was worth what you paid. Get a decent air cleaner on there, lose the "power Pulley" and find an original German doghouse fan shroud for it. Old buses need all the oil and air cooling they can get without being held back by crappy aftermarket parts. An early bay tin top Westy is a great weekend getaway rig, especially with a nice added boost of power for the highway. The floor repairs are pretty straightforward, the windshield frame rust is a little more involved but not too bad.

65' VW Bus/Van my favorite, because I had one. Miss it! Also had a 60' Bug that was a Frankenstein VW all fenders were from other bugs but it ran and ran and ran.

Here in Europe those Westfalia campers are very collectible (read; expensive), definitely not overpaid. I had a T2B camper with a 2 liter pancake engine, such fun little rides.

That’s actually not in bad shape for as long as it sat. I’d say you did good with this find. It’s definitely a shame that the window was left open. you can always weld in a piece to repair the floor.

that exhaust is from a shop in socal. proubly the same one that did the motor it was like the guys trade mark in the 90s !!cant remember the name of the shop but my brother used him a few times.prices of rigs any rig are crazy now!
