Hey guys, just wanted to clarify something, In the video I mentioned that I believed photocopying any US government issued ID was against the law. I doubled checked and I was right. It is a violation of Federal Law to photocopy any US government issued ID. So please do not photocopy these for the supplemental documentation section. I dont recommend to photocopy it at all.
I just had my interview for my FFL last week and got approved for my 07, Im based in AZ, My IOI said I do need to photo copy the Govt issued ID's and also the CCW if they carry one to file with the 4473
@@TheLincolnRanch First of all thanks for the comment. Second, I got a bunch of info for you regarding this to try and help you out. So right off the bat your IOI is wrong. According to Title 18, US Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701 it is unlawful to Photocopy any US Government Issued ID. There are a couple of exceptions, example: medical insurance providers for insurance claims or Government agencies conducting standard operations. Also I contacted my Area Supervisor Linda Young (she covers all of Washington and Idaho), just to make sure I was not blowing smoke and she confirmed what I said before. It is unlawful to photocopy a Government Issued ID, also she stated that there is no Federal Regulation of any kind, that requires the photocopy of ANY supplemental documentation or Concealed Weapons License or Drivers License for the 4473, so long as the supplemental section is filled out properly . She suggested that you call your Area Supervisor (your IOI's boss) to confirm what your IOI told you (dont worry I dont name drop anyone, nor did I name drop you). She said that if you are unsure, that you should ALWAYS ask them to show you the Reg to prove what they tell you if you are unsure of what they are telling you. It is possible however that AZ law requires the photocopy of the Concealed Weapons License, BUT I highly doubt it, so double check your state regs. @@GardnerArsenalLLC Thanks for the Info, Once i receive the physical paper FFL in the mail i will contact my ioi, As i do need to go over a couple of things with him anyways, I had a question for him at the interview that he couldn't answer and he wanted to follow up after talking with his supervisor If your interested in what i asked him we can talk "off air" as they say
@@TheLincolnRanch Definitely! Very interested to know. It was not my intention to "call out" your IOI, but even they can make mistakes. Remember, you are ALWAYS allowed to ask them to show you the regs if your unsure of what they are saying is legit. Also, I hope that 4473 video you watched helped you out.
