@hangguy209 Yeah! The SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS have to show more hunger on the football field more than the Detroit's Lions Kings and slaughter the beast's den.
That’s was great!!! I remember him being asked that back in 2011 or 2012. He said something like “well I keep managing to get wins, so sure I’m a game manager” he’s subtlety funny
Alex Smith explains this too well. He knows his analysis well. Thanks Alex, saying something that makes sense. Nick Wright needs to watch this because he doesn't know what he is talking about.
From a Seahawks fan, anybody calling Brock a dink and dunk guy, simply isn't watching him. 9ers fans have their franchise QB and i can admit im a little jealous lol, good luck to the Faithful.
Thanks brother! Hopefully your seahawks will have a better season this coming season. We may be rivals but I went to the game on December 10th in Santa Clara and you hawks fans were easy to get along with, I had many sitting around me and we all had a good time even though my noners won everybody was professional about it and we all enjoyed ourselves! I'd root for you guys too if it were the other way around right now.
@@JP12Ninersfaithful my family and I was at the game. Our house is split niners/Seahawks. Realistically we are probably 2 years away from being really competitive, assuming we make all the right moves....
Been a 9ers fan for years. There have been some amazing games between hawks and 9ers I never count you guys out; you guys have found too many ways to break some 9er hearts. My best friend is a Seahawks fan, and there’s a ton respect for the hawks and your 12th man.
Glad to see Alex involved in football. Always felt bad for him while on the 9ers, never surrounded him with enough competent coaches and players until the end of his tenure.
Having to learn 7 different offenses in 7 years messed up his development but I wish wed at least gotten him a ring then Mahomes came and took his team when Alex wasn't the problem
@@DanielGonzalez-vo5nino doubt. He balled out in that playoff game against the colts and Andrew luck . Like his best game of his career. Then got screwed. And Mahomes thanks Smith for being a huge reason he was successful in the nfl.
Alex Smith was labeled a game manager during the Harbaugh era with the Niners and never got the credit for the progress he made with those great teams. Alex always been a stand up guy and love him for backing Purdy. Always a Niner in our hearts ❤
The dink-and-dunk gripe is especially nonsensical. Both the film and his stats prove without a doubt that isn't true. He goes downfield more than ANY QB in the league. Much love to Alex.
To have the 3rd highest A/YPA ever recorded disproves that narrative. He also beat Jeff Garcia's franchise record for passing yards on over 100 less pass attempts, and he put up the highest deep throw completion % ever recorded this season. I mean this kid is insane.
Dink & dunk guys don't lead the league in YPA while throwing the fewest attempts in the league. Dink & dunk guys don't run up the 5th most yards in the league while sitting one game, and having zero receivers on the leader list for YAC on the season. It don't happen like that. Honestly I use to root for Alex back when he was playing, even when he got traded to Washington. So to see him on TV as an analyst and spitting facts like this, makes me respect him more.
Watched this this morning. Alex smith is great. He wasn’t the best and he knew but he knew how to manage teams to lots of wins. came back from a ripped in half leg. He knows what good qb play is and bad qb play. He was the master dink and dunk game manager. Love Alex!!! Let’s go 49ers!!
Alex Smith has a bright career in sports commentary because that was the most concise, well thought out piece of analysis I have seen in a long time. He knows his stuff.
He got done so wrong here in SF. I truly believe that Harbaugh lost the respect of most of the veterans in the locker room when he refused to put Alex back in as the starter in 2012. I'm still pissed at Harbaugh for losing the Super Bowl that season too. Alex is a class act, so glad he survived his health scare when he got his leg broke in Washington.
Really appreciate Alex smith. Talk about a guy with intangibles. Almost died several times after his leg got chewed up to be able to return to the NFL a few games. Such a strong willed guy
There are many in the National Media seem to *_WANT_* Purdy to fail. Why they do is beyond me. They just don't like an underdog story that *_THEY THEMSELVES_* didn't invent to draw attention to themselves. They compare him to players that have been picked in the first round and/or been in the league for multiple years. They ignore the fact that Brock Purdy has only been in the league for 2 seasons and has only had significant playing time since December 4, 2022, which was only 1 year, 1 month and 24 days ago. - They're judging him as if he's played in the league for a decade. - They judge him by the support he gets from his fans (based on his efficiency statistics, historic numbers and the fact that, until he had a bad game against Baltimore, he was *_THE_* leading MVP candidate). - No *_TRUE_* 49ers fan believes that his career has been better than Mahomes, Jackson or Allen in totality. - However, he has helped take his team to the NFC Championship Game 1-1/6 years in a row (you can't say 2 years, because he hasn't been under center as the starter that long). -They're judging him based on 2 or 3 bad games as if all other QBs in the league essentially have 17 perfect games each year. And don't forget that he was also coming off *_MAJOR ELBOW SURGERY_* that only *_TWO_* other QBs in the history of the NFL have also had (neither of them starters). *_AND_* most people expected him to be out for the first month of the 2023 season, yet, although he missed OTAs, he showed up ready to go for Training Camp *_WAY AHEAD_* of schedule.
All you said, absolutely true. The objective of this game IS to stack up your team with the best talent possible to achieve the end goal, the Lombardi trophy. Stafford didn't have much in Detroit. He had to come to the Rams, they had to stack the roster with OBJ, Leonard Floyd, Von Miller, etc to get a ring. Tom Brady had good surroundings, Russell Wilson, Troy Aikman, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Patrick Mahomes, etc. But the media thrives on making Purdy a victim of his circumstance.
@@jesusquiroz2449 That's so true... Brock Purdy isn't the only MVP Finalist to have great players surround him. Here are a few examples of MVP QBs who had a GREAT supporting cast (in no particular order): 1. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, John Taylor, Brent Jones and Tom Rathman. 2. Steve Young had Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Ricky Watters, Brent Jones and William Floyd. 3. Tom Brady had Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Kevin Faulk and Ben Watson. 4. Peyton Manning had Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, Reggie Wayne and Marcus Pollard. 5. Kurt Warner had Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. 6. Aaron Rodgers had Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver and Jermichael Finley. 7. Patrick Mahomes had Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Kareem Hunt, Sammy Watkins and Chris Conley. 8. Brett Farve had Antonio Freeman, Edgar Bennett, Robert Brooks, Mark Chmura and William Henderson. 9. Dan Marino had Mark Clayton, Mark Duper, Tony Nathan, Dan Johnson and Woody Bennett. 10. John Elway had Terrell Davis, Ed McCaffrey (CMC's dad), Shannon Sharpe, Rod Smith and Howard Griffith. I could go on and on and list MVP QBs like Johnny Unitas, John Brodie, Ken Stabler, Fran Tarkenton, Terry Bradshaw, Ken Anderson, Joe Theismann, Boomer Esiason and Steve McNair as well.
Lamar is black. Purdy is white. "Football world" = Media black hype train. The media ALWAYS praises blacks. The media ALWAYS downplays whites. That's their central rule.
Unofficial president of game managers had me rolling🤣🤣. Alex bro wish Harbaugh would of stuck with you i believe we could of won with you. You were play good ball. Glad to see you on TV. You will always be 49er in my opinion. #11💪👊
As a Niners fan, I always felt bad for Alex Smith. Just when the Niners were getting in their groove, they abandoned him for a flashy QB that turned out to be a one season wonder. Glad he is where he is, and most importantly, I'm glad he's alive. Truly one of the best journeymen and THE greatest Comeback Player of all time.
Alex Smith is my fav QB player. It's awesome him giving props to the first QB I've liked since Alex Smith which is Purdy. Both 49ers legends imo. P.S Alex you weren't bad yourself, I still remember your 380 yards 4TD playoff game
It’s interesting seeing that Purdy actually directed Aiyuk on that deep pass. I thought he just escaped the pocket and bought time to find an open Aiyuk, and in reality he communicated with BA to make him get open in the first place.
This aged really well. Excellent work Alex explaining it with facts unlike most talking heads with questionable sports background spouting lazy takes dissing on Brock's accomplishments.
Got to love Brock Purdy as the 49ers done a fantastic job to bring such talent and how great this kid is right now as a game changer for a QB.:)🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Grant Cohn was the one that started the dink and dunk narrative. All training camp and practices he said "Brock dinked here and dunked there" calling him a dink and dunk.
He's snuck into my feed I knew to avoid where he wrote previously but started hearing takes that were awfully familiar and when I saw his name on the article I knew why
This is like saying Floy Mayweather isn't one of the greats because he doesn't have knockout power, isn't 6"10 285lbs, and everything is a system of his dad and late uncle.
Good to see Alex animated. As a guy who watched his whole Niner career, the emotion and animation didn't come out of him until Mike Singletary "disrespected" him on the sideline in a game and Vernon Davis had his back and told him stand up for himself
Guys who actually played the position like Montana, Young, Warner, Hasselbeck and Smith (among others) have all lauded Purdy for his QB play. They're the ones we should listen to and not the media guys.
I remember when they accused Alex Smith of being a game manager. What did Andy Reid say? "What quarterback isn't a game manager?" Being a game manager is the primary responsibility of the quarterback.
As a 49ers fan, we had some bad days with Alex Smith running the show, it took him 9 games to get his first passing TD. It took some good coaching to get him up to par. All that saying, He’s a great analyst!
I always respected Alex Smith, so I’m not so surprised that he sees this issue clearly, just more grateful to see someone talking sense about Purdy on this network of “experts”
As a long time 49er faithful thank you very much Alex. I always wish that the 9ers had held onto you instead of acquiring Colin Caepernick, but I am glad you got to go play for the Chiefs and Andy Reid. Its good to see you on your feet, you have always been a class act.
As a Niner fan for decades of "Capt Checkdown" says he's not a game manager, then I believe him... Lol I love Alex Smith I think he was in a bad situation when he got to the Niners then when Harbaugh came in you got to see a glimpse of what he could have been, and if Harbaugh had his way and Alex Smith had started after his injury in the SB they Niners would have won that one.
I am glad the whole load of “experts” and “analysts” think so lowly of Brock Purdy. When he leads the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, that victory will make it that much sweeter.
Thank you Alex , lots of respect to you, and calling yurself Prexy of game management label that you had to live with all those years. We'll see the later on today..
7 coordinators in his first 7 years with the Niners. I was ALWAYS a fan of Smith. Shoot, I went on an eBay buying spree grabbing every Alex Smith card I could get my hands on. Same thing with Frank Gore and then Patrick Willis. The dude had one of the worst opportunities to start his NFL career. Management in shambles, high player for around percentage for a while, spotty O-Line, THROWN INTO THE FIRE FROM THE GET! But they were like "but here's Frank Gore.....GOOD LUCK BUDDY!". I'm not gonna lie, I thought benching Smith after he recovered from injury was the worst decision Harbaugh ever made for the Niners. Smith finally had a good team and stability and has a career year and has to sit the last half of the season and watch Kap come up short. Then Smith tears it up in KC just like Cool Joe did! I rooted for Smith till the end of his career. Now to see him say this about Purdy reinforces my admiration and respect for #11. YOU'RE THE MAN ALEX! Ok the Smith benching and the 3 straight passes to Crabtree at the opponents 2 effing yard line when you have one of the best runningbacks to ever play the game chillin in the backfield waiting to block. And shit the bed with crapernick. That was one of those "what the hell did I just see" moments. But that said I think Alex Smith would have gotten it done with 3 straight pass calls at the 2.
