When Rishi Sunak walked out of Number 10 Downing Street and into the pouring rain to call an early election, Rory Stewart could hardly believe what he was seeing. "It is complete insanity and it makes zero sense," he said. Stewart is the co-host of the UK's hit political podcast The Rest is Politics, which he hosts with former Labour communications guru Alastair Campbell. Stewart was a British MP and a minister in Theresa May's government. He ran for the leadership against Boris Johnson and quit the party in 2019. He's coming to Australia later this year for a speaking tour.
