My son was recently taken to one of these horrible places in Mexico while on holiday with his Dad, as someone who adores Dolphins and Orcas, i cant even put into words how much it broke my heart that he had, had his head filled with nonsense about how this place saved their dolphins, they were sick and wouldnt survive in the wild. It's so sad that, that will always be his first encounter with them. It's always been my dream to see a dolphin, and one day i will take him to see them where they belong, in the ocean 💔

Ending these shows will help bring an end to animal suffering and help people gain a greater respect to nature. Thank you.

As always a masterful work by WAP. I’ll share immediately with all of my acquaintances, some of whom speak some English but good enough for the few narrations in that language.

The day these stupid tourists stop going and paying tickets to attend these shows, dolphins will never be in Peace. So learn your children to respect the feelings of animals instead of selfishly bringing them to see these barbaric shows

Gracias por compartir la realidad de esta industria horrible que miente a su público solamente para ganar dinero explotando a los animales. Generarando conciencia se va a caer la demanda, hasta que la última jaula esté vacia! Comparto!

Well the trainers force them to perfome otherwise they get punished most of the time with food. So the trainers are not innocent. Glad that some opened their eyes.

In Ukraine, cats that walk on the street (both homeless and domestic) do not live long and die in agony. They are poisoned by neighbors and public utilities with poisoned mice and haters purposefully. Farmers poison wild animals, birds. Bloggers, television and animal protection organizations do not discuss the problem. Help!

“Based on my personal experience with whales and dolphins in the wild and my observations of these magnificent animals in captivity, I believe there is no justification for allowing them to be used as performers in theme park shows and that breeding them in captivity to sustain a captive population solely for entertainment and profit is unacceptable. The concept of watching cetaceans perform tricks in theme parks is anti educational and is inhumane. These are animals that live in family pods for their whole lives with life spans similar to our own. Capturing whales and dolphins for entertainment and profit forces them to live in artificial families, in spaces that are insufficient, and rewards them with food for doing tricks they do not do in the wild. Today, we have the interactive film and video technology to show cetaceans in the wild to audiences around the world. For the amount of money a family spends to go to an animal park, they can have an on the water experience seeing whales in their natural environment. It is long past due for us as a thinking and caring human species to adopt and require practices that respect whales and respect their right to live in their natural wild environment. Anywhere on the planet we are connected to the ocean. We have the opportunity to do what needs to be done to protect our life support system and improve the quality of life not just of the marine environment - of the marine mammals -- but for ourselves. This is the choice we have. If we protect the ocean, we protect ourselves." ~ Jean-Michel Cousteau "There's about as much educational benefit studying dolphins [and whales] in captivity as there would be studying mankind by only observing prisoners held in solitary." ~ Jacques Cousteau "Whales and dolphins, like chimpanzees, are highly intelligent and intensely social creatures, forming close emotional bonds between family and group members. I have watched them leap in the freedom of the ocean and feel deeply saddened and angered to see them in cruel captivity, swimming endlessly and hopelessly around their sterile concrete prisons. As David Kirby so eloquently documents in this timely work, whale and dolphin captivity only benefits the captors. It is impossible to read “Death at SeaWorld “ and come to any other conclusion.” ~ Dr. Jane Goodall "A Fall From Freedom" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1URmIdiMc0E.html(the original "Blackfish") "Blackfish" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G93beiYiE74.html&feature=player_embedded "The tank is a bad thing." Even if everything she says is a lie, and captivity isn't as bad for dolphins as people say it is, think about it in another way... Where do you think YOU would really be happiest? Compare life in a tank or seapen to life in open ocean. Compare the dead fish to the abundance of live prey species. Compare the human companionship to that of their own pod. Compare the enrichment and mental stimulation in a tank or seapen to what they would get in the ocean. Compare the average lifespan of a wild dolphin to a captive one. Compare the work captive dolphins are told to do to the work they would be told to do in the wild. Compare being confined to a certain amount of square metres to having no confinement at all. Imagine what life YOU would choose. That's probably the life a dolphin would want for itself.

Such a cope. Everyone knows these animals live longer in the wild. And no, I would never choose to perform tricks in this circus environment for my meals. They belong in the wild and that’s where they should stay.

- Talks about chemicals used in the pool but shows multiple ocean facilities??? - Worked there for 10 years??? Why did it take that long for you to realise? - “its really tiring work” - obviously??? that’s not a shock - no education in water quality - that’s not the reality for western facilities and that’s more of a management issue which is what you will see in facilities with lower standards and countries with less worker protection and laws - WAP sprinkling their assertions about dolphin welfare without any welfare evidence aside from statistics about pool size and number of animals as if it makes it legit - very dramatic soundtrack for clips of dolphins that are not showing any concerning welfare issues - the size of tank/bathtub/bucket of water comparison is just *rolls eyes* because you can say the same thing about most animal species - including horses and dogs. They move to find food, avoid stressors ect. - Behaviours conditioned based on hunger - no, not in a well managed facility that feeds the dolphins appropriate base diets. Deprivation is an issue in less progressive facilities and it’s important that there are regulatory bodies to ensure dolphins are being fed properly. Also consider the many facilities that use secondary reinforcement and how there are many dolphins that prefer to work for toys, tactile ect. And that deprivation only causes aggression and frustration - Again the whole thing of being forced. Trust me, you cannot force these dolphins. I have seen what happens when people try and it results in dolphins that will go off and have sex with each other rather than interact with your guests. - Video of very chill slide out play when talking about stress and frustration lol - talking about compatibility issues - you were there for 10 years and you couldn’t figure out how to gate dolphins away from each other??? Why did you leave a dominant dolphin with a dolphin it bullied??? Fix your social! - Never even bothered to talk about how severity of raking is a good indication of welfare and just talked about how dolphins “can’t get away” - wild dolphins get severely raked and just because they have space to get away doesn’t mean that they want to move away from the safety of a pod. - Emotionally and physically not able to work? are you saying to deprive the dolphin of training and enrichment ??? - “reproducing animals in a very amoral way” seriously? if diversifying the gene pool with A.I and allowing females to raise a calf is amoral then what the hell is moral? - “it’s not a scientific question” I beg your pardon??? It is absolutely a scientific question. Your - -- Feelings should not dictate these animals lives. Welfare science exists for a reason. And to say this means they absolutely don’t care about what is actually good for welfare. Just what would make themselves feel better If you work in a zoological facility for 10 years you will see animals die. That’s the reality. They get sick, they can get injured, they get old. They’re targeting Dolphin Discovery a lot, which is funny because they actually are the ones getting accreditations from the AMMPA and American Humane. I’m willing to bet she didn’t work there. Oh geez of course they’re going to say that these facilities don’t contribute to conservation. Just brush over all the research, all the educational programs… it’s all a big lie is it? Only a very small portion huh? Based on what? They show absolutely no data they just say oh but its not true. Okay! Show me the evidence that it’s not! Oh cool just shit on dolphin trainers and ignore the fact that you need a degree or some sort of background in animal behaviour and training - and, by extension, welfare Mexico probably employs a lot of citizens as well, which is important. But AMMPA facilities do designate that trainers need a background in animal behaviour and science to be hired.

"It's about entertainment, it's about tourists,it's about profit" funny coming from an industry that profits off misinforming the public and making them feel guilty. When you properly look into it objectively a lot of arguments against keeping cetaceans in captivity completely falls apart. I'm not saying the industry isn't perfect and there is nothing to improve but I think we as humans should be focusing on improving their care using science in mind not personal beliefs.
